Climb to the Top in the Next Global Mission!

Get ready to put your battle skills to the ultimate test during the “Get BP at the Battle Tree!” global mission in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. During this challenge, the goal is to collect 2,000,000 Battle Points (BP) worldwide between May 1, 2018, at 00:00 (UTC) and May 14, 2018, at 23:59 (UTC). If this lofty goal is reached, every participant will receive 2,000 Festival Coins as a reward for their battle prowess.

Even if the goal isn’t reached, everyone will get a participation prize of 1,000 Festival Coins. Trainers who have registered their game at the Pokémon Global Link before the end of the global mission will receive double the number of Festival Coins—4,000 when the goal is reached, and 2,000 even if it isn’t. You’ll need a Pokémon Trainer Club account to register your game and collect the bonus Festival Coins, so be sure to sign up for a free account today.

In order to compete in the Battle Tree in Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon, you will need to play the game until you become Champion. The Battle Tree can then be accessed on Poni Island to the west of Poni Gauntlet. At the Battle Tree, Trainers will face a gauntlet of challengers. The goal is to defeat as many opponents in a row as possible without suffering a defeat. The more opponents you conquer, the more BP you earn.

So gather up a party of your most skilled Pokémon and prepare to battle your way to victory and glory! Together, we can make this global mission a success!

Nintendo and GAME FREAK applied for a Card Display Screen Apparatus patent in the United States and details of this patent were disclosed on April 26th, 2018 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Inventor of the device is Koji Kawada and it was filed on October 25th, 2017 but it appears that work on the device began at least a few years ago as the Japanese patent was filed on October 25th, 2016.

Image

The device seems to be intended for use in the Pokémon franchise as it is a joint patent between Nintendo and GAME FREAK and the patent indicates that: "In a game of this embodiment, the player can capture (collect) the character of wild monster by operating the player character and making it a fellow character. Moreover, the player can make the fellow character fight with the character of the monster owned by the enemy character. Furthermore, the player can train (raise) the fellow character and raise its level. For example, an offensive power or/and defensive power can be strengthened. However, the fellow character may evolve (deform) in some cases."

Patent Abstract:

A non-limiting example game apparatus includes a display device, and a card display screen including an image of a card object is displayed on the display device. The image of the card object is constituted by a character image arranged in the front most and a composite image that is arranged at a back thereof, and with the composite image is obtained by combining a color change image, a background image and a pattern image. The color change image includes a plurality of polygons, and a color of each of vertices is set so as to cyclically change according to an attitude of the game apparatus and respective vertices positions of the plurality of polygons. The color change image and the background image are combined with each other, so that brightness of the background image cyclically changes according to the color of the color change image that cyclically changes.

is a great battler as well, making use of the electric energy it has taken into its body.
We will now present Zeraora's newly discovered Ability, as well as the move "Plasma Fists", which only Zeraora can learn!

The mythical Pokémon
Zeraora
Species: Thunderclap Pokémon
Height: 1.5m
Weight: 44.5kg
Type: Electric
Ability: Volt Absorb

Unlike your average Electric type Pokémon, Zeraora doesn't have an internal organ that generates electricity.
It is, however, capable of stockpiling electric energy it takes in externally, then using this as its own electric energy.
When it uses high voltage electric energy, the fur all over its body bristles.
*Zeraora is a mythical Pokémon that can't be encountered during normal gameplay.

It nullifies damage with the Ability "Volt Absorb"!

Zeraora has the Ability "Volt Absorb",
which nullifies damage from Electric type moves and recovers one fourth of its HP!!
It's the perfect Ability for Zeraora, which is able to take energy into its body!

Pikachu uses Volt Tackle!
This is a powerful move where the user rushes at the opponent covered in electricity, however...

Thanks to Volt Absorb's effect, Zeraora recovers HP without taking any damage!

"Plasma Fists", the move only Zeraora can learn

During the turn Plasma Fists is used,
Normal type moves become Electric type!
This is a move only Zeraora can learn!
(Type: Electric Category: Physical)

Zeraora uses Plasma Fists! It attacks with fists covered in electricity!

Plasma Fists causes a shower of electrons to pour down, and...

Normal type moves become Electric type!
Tekkaguya's "Explosion" has its move type changed as well,
so Zeraora, which has the Ability "Volt Absorb", is able to recover HP instead of taking damage!

You try out battling against Zeraora too!
