Pokemon Manga sells on average over 24000 copies per volume during 2007

According to the BookScan Sales Numbers for 2007, seven manga series sold more than 24,000 copies of each volume on average. Pokemon was one of the seven series that sold 24,000+ on average per volume. Considering no new Pokemon manga's were released in English during 2007, this bodes well for the upcoming Pokemon manga's that were announced earlier this year.

JAKKS Pacific Press Release for Toy Fair 08 - No New Pokemon Toys Announced

JAKKS Pacific launched the first major Pokemon toy release for North American in more than four years in 2007 with action figures, plush, electronics and play sets. Pokemon merchandise from JAKKS Pacific's was a no show at this years Toy Fair 08 with no new Pokemon toys announced. Pokemon USA closed down their online store, Pokemoncenter.com last month in favor of selling Pokemon merchandise exclusively through its retail partners.

The American International Toy Fair is one of a few major toy industry trade shows held around the world. The Toy Fair features demonstrations and displays in an open trade show setting, while the toy district showrooms offer a chance for buyers to consult with sales representatives from the major toy manufacturers in a quieter setting. It's very odd that Pokemon USA and JAKKS Pacific would not announce any new Pokemon merchandise at such a large event. Hopefully we will see a press announcement from both these companies later this year.

The eighth annual T.O.T.Y. Awards were given out Saturday night. Women in Toys’ Wonder Women of Toys awards honored nearly a dozen women for excellence in their respective specialties. Pokemon USA’s Holly Rawlinson took home the Licensor award.

What appeared to be metal fragments were found in Valentine's Day lollipops at an elementary school, and the product has been pulled from the shelves of thousands of stores across the country.

At least 20 apparently tainted lollipops, from a bag of Pokemon Valentine Cards and Pops, were found at Kathleen Elementary School in Lakeland.

For the past week, most major news outlets have been reporting this story. Pokemon.com has also added a link on their website to the following FDA's Press Release.

Sherwood Brands Announces Nationwide Recall of Pokemon Branded “Valentine Cards and Pops” Because They May Contain Metal Fragments

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Rockville, MD -- February 14, 2008 - Sherwood Brands LLC is voluntarily recalling approximately 400,000 packages of Pokemon branded "Valentine Cards and Pops" (Item# 073964209109 and Item# 073964289804), because of reports that metal fragments were found in two lollipops purchased in Florida. There are no reports of injury. People who bite into or swallow a metal fragment could possibly be injured.

The products being recalled are packages of ten and thirty Pokemon branded Valentine cards and lollipops featuring a variety of characters.

Sherwood Brands is advising its distribution network to remove the Pokemon branded Valentine cards and lollipops from the shelves immediately. The product was sold at retailers nationwide.

"Our utmost concern is the safety of our customers. We took immediate action upon learning of this incident and Sherwood is working with the FDA to recall the products," said Amir Frydman, president of Sherwood Brands.

"Pokemon is committed to consumer safety and we’re working closely with our licensee, Sherwood Brands, to investigate this matter completely," said J.C. Smith, Pokemon USA’s director of marketing.

Consumers who have purchased the above products are advised not to consume them and to return them to Sherwood Brands for a full refund. Send affected products to:

The March issue of CoroCoro and the Official Japanese Movie 11 website officially unveiled Shaymin as well as a second form for Giratina. The full title of the next movie was also announced and as expected it is entitled, 'Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl - Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin'. Shaymin will make its anime debut in the 11th Pocket Monsters movie which will be released in Japanese theaters on July 19th, 2008.

Shaymin is a small, white hedgehog-like creature. It appears to have grass on its back instead of quills, as well as a pink flower by the side of its face. Shaymin is the shortest legendary Pokemon to date.

According to Japan's CoroCoro Magazine, Giratina has two forms. The first ("Another Form") is the form we see in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and the second is a new "Origin" form which will debut in Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin; it uses this form when travelling through different dimensions. The "Origin" form of Giratina is 6.9m and 650kg, while the"Another Form" is 4.5m and 750kg.
