The original ANA Short "Pikachu's Exploration Club" shown in August 2007 on limited ANA domestic flights has been announced for release on DVD. The DVD will be released on April 25, 2008 for the suggested retail price of 2500 yen (including tax). The catalog number for the DVD is ZMBS-958 and has a total running time of about 45 minutes.

The short stars Pikachu, Pochama, Naetle and a few other familiar Pokemon characters as they go to a nearby river to swim. About the same time, Nyarth and Sonansu also arrive to swim in the river, but to their surprise, there is no water in a river. Can the group find the cause of the water loss and be able to swim in the river?

The DVD also includes Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl Episode 57 - Beadull Knew! It first aired in Japan on November 29, 2007 as part of a one-hour special alongside DP056.

Before an under-construction stone bridge, Satoshi and his friends meet the Breeder Ishisu, who is having a quarrel with the designer of the bridge. They are having sort of a headache because the "employee"-- Bibarel, who is supposed to do the quarrying, now doesn't work.

Anime Boston is an annual three-day Japanese animation convention held in Boston, Massachusetts. Anime Boston 2008 will be held Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23 at the Hynes Convention Center and Boston Marriott Copley Place. Anime Boston announced its second round of guests and surprisingly it was announced that Tom Wayland would be attending and that he's the new Voice Director for the English dub of Pokemon. Hopefully people in the Boston area will be able to ask him some questions about dubbing Pokemon. More information about Anime Boston can be found at http://www.animeboston.com.

IGN's reviews Pokemon: Indigo League Season 1, Volume 3 DVD Boxset, Rates the set 2/10 (Terrible)

Viz is now releasing the original anime series for Pokemon in DVD boxset format. The Pokemon: Indigo League DVD boxset features episodes 53-79, the final episodes for the first season of the original TV series before many others would later follow. The 27 episodes are split up onto three discs, and each disc has nine episodes.

IGN is a bit harsh in their review, but it's not far off. Amazon is currently pre-ordering the box set on their website for $27.99. This is a reasonable price for what they are offering in this box set. Viz made absolutely no effort on these DVD box sets. It would have been nice to see them make uncut boxsets similar to Naurto. #PocketMonsters will be posting our own review of these boxsets in the future when our new website launches. Below are excerpts from IGN's review.

Pokemon: Indigo League Season 1, Volume 3 DVD Review

by Jeffrey Harris, IGN
Video is presented in fullscreen format. At over ten years old, the series is definitely starting to show its age. The picture quality is starting to look grainy and there are some slight artifacts in the animation as well.

The Pokemon: Indigo League boxset comes in a paper case, with volumes 7, 8, and 9 of the series packaged in regular size plastic, clamshell DVD cases stored inside. Each case has an insert listing the number and episode titles included on the discs. There are no extras at all for this DVD set, but the packaging boasts, "Full-length Pikachu's Jukebox On Each DVD!" To the ignorant, the Pikachu's Jukebox was a music video segment at the end of each episode, prior to the credits with some lame, stupid song about Pokemon and their friendships with each other and their masters.

If you loved the original series, well here are 27 episodes of season one right here.
