PokéCon 2015 took place at Crowne Plaza Airport Expo Center in Louisville, KY on January 9-11, 2015. At this year's Pokécon (a Pokémon convention assembled together by Sukoshi Con), Tom Wayland was one of the featured guests. He held a panel giving a behind the scenes look at how he creates the voices of the Pokémon anime. In addition, Mr. Wayland also gives a back story on his career and offers helpful information on how the Pokémon anime is produced.

The panel took place at 3PM on Friday, January 9th, 2015 and our very own TSS_Killer was in attendance and recorded the panel.

  • Tom Wayland has directed the Pokémon anime for almost 8 years / 8 seasons as of this panel.
  • He saw an ad in the paper for a Producer at Central Park Media and worked there for 4 years.
  • Created his own company TripWire Productions and then began doing parts for various anime companies including 4Kids.
  • Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys was his first envolvement in the Pokémon franchise. When the The Pokémon Company's license with 4Kids ended, they decided to produce it on their own, they had problems with the company they were initially working for and Tom managed to get the production contract for the show. Since Movie 10/Season 11, he has been involved with all the episodes of the anime.
  • He has voiced many of the Pokémon in the English dub.
  • He also confirmed as of that panel (Friday, January 9th, 2015), the title of the second XY English dub series was NOT finalized and was still tentative.
  • His favorite Pokémon voice is Pikachu voiced by Ikue_Ōtani (大谷 育江)
