Aipom is jumping from tree to tree, and Ash and co. are trying to catch up with Aipom. Aipom then climbs a tree. A blob of honey sits on the tree, and Aipom and some other forest Pokémon begin eating it. Brock states that a lot of Pokémon are attracted to the smell of honey. Suddenly, a Burmy pops out of the bushes. Wanting some of the honey, Burmy jumps on top of the tree. However, Burmy falls off the tree and lands on the ground. The leaves on Burmy's head fall off. Burmy quickly notices this, and it gathers up the leaves.
A girl and her Chansey then walk out from behind the trees. The girl wants to capture the Burmy. She orders Chansey to use Attract. Chansey uses Attract, and Burmy immediately falls in love with Chansey. Brock falls in love with the girl right away, hoping the Attract will work on him. Dawn tells the girl that she has to hurry up and attack Burmy if she wants to capture it. The girl is grateful for Dawn's advice. She tells Chansey to use Doubleslap. Chansey begins slapping Burmy. Burmy, however, is able to tackle Chansey. Chansey is still standing. It uses Doubleslap again, but Burmy protects itself with its Protect attack. Finally, Chansey uses its Egg Bomb attack. Burmy isn't able to protect itself from the attack. It ends up getting his by the Egg Bomb. The girl then throws a Pokéball at the Burmy. The ball wiggles a few times, and Burmy is caught.
Ash and Dawn introduces themselves to the girl. Dawn assumes that she was the one who put the honey on the tree. The girl tells Dawn that she is correct, and she introduces herself as Sherol, a treasure hunter. Brock becomes crazy over Sherol. Croagunk pops out of its Pokéball. It is about to attack Brock when Sherol walks right past him. She says that when you catch a Bug type Pokémon, you can never hold hands with a man again, and a Spearow will bring you good luck.
Ash and co. sit down for a break. Sherol explains that she is trying to find enchanted honey, honey that is said to be a hundred times sweeter than regular honey. Sherol pulls out a map of the Eterna Forest. She points to a 'X' on the map. The 'X' is where Sherol is headed. She explains about the Amber Castle, a castle where the honey is held at. Ash and Dawn agree to help Sherol find the honey. Brock hopes that Sherol will change her mind about love. That time, Croagunk attacks Brock.
Team Rocket has been eavesdropping on Ash and co.'s conversation. They want to get the honey for themselves. Meowth wants to give the honey to the boss so that they can get rich quickly. Sherol sends out Burmy. She tells Burmy that she needs it to evolve into a Mothim so that it can help find the honey. Dawn wonders why Sherol couldn't just capture a Burmy. Sherol states that her grandpa used to always say that Mothims should always evolve from Burmy. Sherol has captured three Burmy before, but because they were female they evolved into Wormadam. She sends out her three Wormadam. Brock says that male Burmy evolve into Mothim, and female Burmy evolve into Wormadam. The three Wormadam that Sherol has are all different colors because they evolved in different parts of the area. Now that Sherol has caught a male Burmy, she can't wait to evolve it.
Ash sends out Turtwig. He states that Burmy will have to win some battles in order to evolve. He offers to help Burmy evolve by battling with Turtwig. Sherol accepts Ash's challenge. She has her Burmy use Tackle. Turtwig uses Tackle too. However, because Turtwig is a lot stronger, it is able to tackle Burmy hard on. Burmy recovers from the attack. It uses another Tackle, but while it is running towards Turtwig, Burmy trips and falls down. Two of Burmy's leaves gets caught in Turtwig's eyes. This scares Turtwig and it accidentally kicks Burmy. Dawn and Brock think that Turtwig may be a bit too much for Burmy. Ash thinks that they are right. He returns Turtwig back. Ash asks Pikachu to battle, but to let Burmy attack it. Pikachu agrees, and Ash sends Pikachu into battle.
Burmy uses Tackle again. Pikachu doesn't dodge the attack, and Burmy hits Pikachu. Acting, Pikachu falls over and falls to the ground. Burmy uses Tackle one more time, but a mechanical arm suddenly swipes Burmy. It's from Team Rocket. They say their motto. Team Rocket says that they are the evolution pros, and that they are going to evolve Burmy into Mothim. Sherol, not knowing who Team Rocket is, thanks them because they are going to try and evolve Burmy. Ash, Dawn, and Brock tell Sherol that Team Rocket is the bad guys. Jessie sends out Seviper. Seviper uses its Haze attack on Ash and co. to prevent them from getting closer.
Team Rocket lands somewhere in the mountains. They can't wait to evolve Burmy into Mothim and get that honey. Because Team Rocket is known for losing battles, it shouldn't be too hard for them to lose against Burmy too. Meowth translates that Burmy is hungry. Having no choice, Team Rocket lays out a bunch of food for Burmy to eat. Burmy eats everything. This gets Jessie and James angry. They are about to lose their temper, but Meowth stops them. Meowth tells Jessie and James that they want the honey, so they have to remain strong.
Sherol is pretty down about the whole situation now that her Burmy is gone. She explains about how her whole family are treasure hunters, and about how her grandpa was her hero. The reason why her first challenge was to find the enchanted honey was because her grandpa tried the challenge, and she wants to succeed him. Ash sends out Staravia to help search for Burmy.
Team Rocket sends Wobbuffet in to battle. Jessie tells Wobbuffet to make sure Burmy wins. Burmy uses its Tackle attack on Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet uses Counter, and Burmy falls to the ground. Jessie gets mad at Wobbuffet because it was suppose to let Burmy win. Jessie tells Meowth to get out there and lose. Meanwhile, high above is Staravia. It spots Team Rocket and flies back to tell Ash and co. Ash and co. understand what Staravia is trying to say and they follow it. Burmy uses Tackle on Meowth. Meowth gets hit but it is still standing. It tells Burmy to hit it harder than that. Jessie and James are impressed by Meowth's coaching. Suddenly, Meowth hits Burmy with its Fury Swipes attack. This knocks Burmy out. James wonders why Meowth always wins when it's suppose to lose.
Suddenly, Ash and co. find Team Rocket. They demand for Burmy back. Sherol pleas for Burmy back, but Jessie ignores her. They want to settle the whole situation with a Pokémon battle. Jessie sends out Seviper, and James sends out Carnivine. Dawn sends out Piplup who uses Bubblebeam on Seviper and Carnivine. Pikachu then uses Thunderbolt, but Seviper and Carnivine dodge the attack. Brock and Sherol decide to pick up Burmy. Meowth, however, blocks their path. Sherol sends out Chansey. Chansey uses Doubleslap on Meowth. Burmy tries to escape, but Wobbuffet is blocking its path. Burmy binds Wobbuffet, escapes, and finally tackles Meowth. Meowth gets back onto its feet. Meowth is very angry now. Burmy delivers one final attack at Meowth, Seviper, and Carnivine. Then it begins to evolve. Burmy has finally evolved into Mothim. Ash looks up Mothim in his Pokédex.
Team Rocket isn't about to give up yet. They all charge towards Ash and co. Chansey uses Egg Bomb, and Mothim uses Psybeam to weaken Team Rocket's Pokémon. Piplup then hits Seviper and Carnivine with Bubblebeam. The two Pokémon fall down onto Jessie, James, and Meowth. Finally, Pikachu uses Volt Tackle, and Team Rocket blasts off again.
Sherol is extremely happy that she got Burmy to evolve into Mothim. She sincerely thanks Ash and co. for helping her out. Brock tries to get Sherol to love him again, but she ignores him once again. She tells Brock that she should never touch the hands of a man the day when Burmy evolve. Mothim suddenly picks up the scent of the honey. Ash and co. begin to follow Mothim towards the treasure.
