Ash and co. are walking across town while discussing Ash's battle with Maylene and Maylene herself. Ash gives credit for Dawn for boosting Maylene's battle spirit again. Dawn blushes and then asks Reiji where they are going. Reiji tells her to relax and to wait and see. They walk up a flight of stairs. When they arrive at the top, Ash, Dawn, and Brock are astounded at the sight. Reiji explains that he wanted to show them Veilstone City's landmarks, since they are leaving tomorrow. Ash assumes that the landmarks that Reggie is referring to are rocks. Dawn says that the rocks happen to be meteorites, and Reiji confirms this. Ash and Brock are amazed since they never heard of it before. Dawn and Reiji explain that it is the meteorites that made Veilstone City popular. They glance at a nearby bulletin board that explains the history of the meteorites. Reiji explains that the meteorites served as guardians of the city. People from all around the world would visit, and that was how Veilstone City soon came to birth.
Meanwhile, a helicopter is seen flying in the sky. The helicopter belongs to Team Galactic, and they soon make their landing at their base. Commander Saturn walks out of the helicopter and is greeted by two Galactic members. One of the members offers to carry a box that the comamnder is holding, but the commander tells her that he is bringing it to their leader. At the Pokémon Center, Ash is polishing his gym badges. Dawn is excited that Ash already has three of the Sinnoh badges. Ash thanks Dawn for the compliment and remembers that he didn't win Maylene's battle fairly. Brock replies that Maylene recognized Ash's determination and strength, so he should still be proud. Next, Brock announces that they should try to figure out where the next gym is at. Nurse Joy tells them that the next gym is in Pastoria City, and the gym leader is an expert with Water-type Pokémon. This gets Ash excited, so he plans that to be his next stop.
At the Team Galactic base, Commander Saturn explains his next plan to his crew. They plan to head to the meteorites in Veilstone City to unlock some kind of mystery. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is at the meteorites. They can't believe that the meteorites are just sitting there waiting for them to steal it. Team Galactic have finally arrived at Veilstone City. Commander Saturn opens up the box he was carrying earlier, and a yellow cube is revealed. He takes it out, and the cube reacts to the meteorites. The cube and meteorites glow and give out a bright light. Ash, Dawn, Brock, Reiji, and Maylene all notice the light coming from the meteorites. The cube floats out of the commander's hand and transforms into a key. He then places the key in his bag. The light from the meteorites disappear. Team Rocket, who were scared stiff, finally have calm down. Ash and co. have also noticed that the light disappeared.
Suddenly, Reiji receives a call from Paul, who wants his Electabuzz back. Reiji tells Paul that he met Ash earlier in the day, and he won the badge. Paul isn't concerned about it since he thought winning the badge was easy. Suddenly, Team Galactic uses their computer to interfere with all communication devices. The police force have lost contact with the outside world. Officer Jenny orders her crew to find the source of the problem. At the Pokémon Center, all of the TVs have stopped working, and Nurse Joy tells Ash and co. that their medical equipment have been shut off. Maylene rushes into the center, sensing that something was wrong. She decides to find out what is causing the problem.
Team Galactic arrives at the meteorite scene. The crew begins to paste trackers on each meteorite. Then a metal claw drops down from a helicopter and grabs onto the meteorite. Team Galactic begins to steal them all. Maylene tells Ash and co. that the trouble is at the park where the meteorites are at. She explained that she sent a message to Officer Jenny about it. Jessie is angry that Team Galactic is stealing the meteorites. She thinks that they should get out there and mess with Team Galactic. A Galactic member notices Team Rocket hiding in the bushes. Team Rocket begins to say their motto to him. Commander Saturn sends out Toxicroak and tells it to use Sludge Bomb. The Sluge Bomb from Toxicroak knocks Team Rocket off their feet.
Ash and co. soon make it to the park. Ash first notices Team Rocket and then the Toxicroak from Team Galactic. He looks up the Pokémon in his Pokédex. They recognize Team Galactic back from Eterna City. Ash wonders what Team Galactic is up to. Commander Saturn responds by having Toxicroak use Dark Pulse. Maylene's Lucario counters with Aura Sphere, although it doesn't do anything. Commander Saturn then explains that he plans to use the meteorites to create a new world. Suddenly, Officer Jenny appears. She tells Team Galactic that their plan has interfered with all communication systems in Veilstone City, not just the Pokémon Center. Then she orders Commander Saturn to reveal his plan. Commander Saturn refuses to do so, and he tells Toxicroak to use Dark Pulse. Toxicroak fires the attack. Ash, Dawn, and Maylene all have their Pokémon counter it. The Dark Pulse attack redirects towards Brock, but Croagunk saves him.
Toxicroak slowly approaches Croagunk, and both Pokémon glare at each other. Meanwhile, Officer Jenny demands Team Galactic to surrender. Commander Saturn pays no attention to her warning. The crew sends out their Golbat, and the Golbat attack Ash and co. Brock orders Croagunk to use Brick Break. Croagunk attacks, but Toxicroak dodges and tackles Croagunk. Croagunk and Toxicroak face each other, with Team Rocket in the middle. Croagunk uses Poison Sting, and Toxicroak shoots out Sludge Bomb. Both attacks hit Team Rocket, and they blast off again.
The Golbat continue to surround Ash and co., preventing them from getting close to Team Galactic. One of the Golbat charges up an attack behind Pikachu and Piplup. Just before it can launch the attack, an electric shock knocks out the Golbat. The electric attack came from Electabuzz and Reiji. Reiji tells Ash and co. that they have to stop Team Galactic from getting away with the meteorites, but first they have to stop the Golbat. Dawn has her Piplup use Bubblebeam to stop some of the Golbat. With the pathway cleared, Ash and co. run towards Team Galactic. Commander Saturn orders Toxicroak to use Sludge Bomb. The Sludge Bomb knocks Ash and co. off their feet. Then a bunch of Golbat charge up a few attacks for Electabuzz. Pikachu, however, blasts the Golbat away to save Electabuzz. One Golbat still is conscious and fires an attack at Pikachu, but this time Electabuzz saves it. Then with the combined strength of Pikachu and Electabuzz, they finish off the rest of the Golbat.
With the Golbat destroyed, Ash and co. can now focus on destroying the cables that are holding up the meteorites to the helicopters. Pikachu uses Volt Tackle, and with a boost of electricity from Electabuzz, it destroys all the cables that are holding the two meteorites. The meteorites begin to fall. Lucario destroys the rest of the machinery surrounding the meteorites with Bone Rush, and the Whirlpool from Piplup ensures a safe landing for the meteorites. Commander Saturn realizes that he has no choice but to retreat. Him and his crew gather back into their helicopters and they make their escape. Pikachu and Lucario try to stop them, but Team Galactic are out of distance. Officer Jenny doesn't seem to mind though since they recovered both meteorites. However, she wished she knew more of Team Galactic's plans.
Team Rocket is slowing walking down an alley feeling disappointed that Team Galactic beat them. However, they promise not to give up. Meanwhile, Commander Saturn reports that they will be heading to the lake next because it goes along with their plan. He then has the Veilstone Base evacuated. Then Reiji and Maylene wish Ash and co. a safe journey. Reiji tells Ash that Paul's next gym battle is also in Pastoria City, so he wishes Ash the best of luck.
