Mythical Pokémon Meltan

The Pokémon Company International, Niantic, Inc., and Nintendo announced today that a new Mythical Pokémon has been discovered in the world of Pokémon GO: Meltan! Meltan had been appearing in Pokémon GO starting on September 22nd, 2018 during the Chikorita Community Day and then all through the weekend before the official announcement today. High resolution screenshots and artwork from the press release has been added to an Imageboard thread.

MYSTERIOUS NEW POKÉMON APPEARS IN POKÉMON GO

Reported Sightings of Ditto as New Mythical Pokémon, Meltan

Meltan

Meltan is a Steel-type Pokémon with a body made mostly of liquid metal, which makes its shape very fluid. This Pokémon can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its body. Meltan can generate electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and for an attack it fires from its eye.

Name: Meltan
Category: Hex Nut Pokémon
Height: 0'08"
Weight: 17.6 lbs.
Type: Steel

In Pokémon GO, sightings of Ditto that have transformed into Meltan have been reported. Professor Oak and Professor Willow have started research on Meltan. Professor Oak, one of the leading authorities in the field of Pokémon research, is based in the Kanto region’s Pallet Town. In Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, he gives a Pokédex to both you and your rival—entrusting you with his dream of completing it. Meanwhile, with the help of Pokémon GO players around the world, Professor Willow conducts his research in the field to fully understand the habitats and distribution of Pokémon. He was once an assistant to Professor Oak, and he talks to Oak, his mentor, whenever he runs into a hitch in his research.

It has been determined that Pokémon GO is somehow key to meeting Meltan in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Updates will be provided as more is discovered about this mysterious Mythical Pokémon.

Meltan

Pokémon GO, a mobile game that encourages fans to discover and catch Pokémon in the real world, is available for download both for iPhone in the App Store and for Android devices on Google Play.

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced new information about the highly anticipated Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! games, including Legendary Pokémon battles, GO Park information, a new Candy system and more! High resolution artwork and screenshots from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.

Exciting New Details Unveiled in Latest Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Trailer!

In Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, you’ll be able to use a Bluetooth connection to bring Pokémon you’ve caught in Pokémon GO into the Kanto region to join you on your adventures. Pokémon that are transferred from Pokémon GO will appear in a place called the GO Park complex, which is located in Fuchsia City. The GO Park complex is made up of 20 individual GO Parks, and you can keep up to 50 Pokémon in each one. To take Pokémon stored in the GO Park complex on your journey across the Kanto region, you will have to find and catch them within a GO Park first. You are not limited to connecting with just your own Pokémon GO account, though—there is no limit to the number of Pokémon GO accounts that can be tied to a single save file, so you can receive Pokémon from your friends and family, too. Once you have 25 of the same species of Pokémon in the GO Park complex, you will be able to play a special minigame to win Candies. By using the GO Park complex, you can even transfer Alolan form Pokémon into Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

By using Candies in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, players will be able to power up their Pokémon. Pokémon will grow stronger after taking part in battles, but by giving your Pokémon Candies, you will be able to raise the specific stats of that Pokémon. Different types of Candies will have different effects—for example, some can increase a Pokémon’s Attack and others can increase a Pokémon’s Speed or Defense. These Candies can be obtained in a variety of ways, including by transferring Pokémon to Professor Oak, by successfully completing games in the GO Park complex’s Play Yard or by taking your Pokémon for a stroll via the Poké Ball Plus* device. By collecting and utilizing these Candies, you can create a very strong Pokémon team.

In the Pokémon world, there are incredibly powerful Pokémon that are rarely seen but are spoken about in the region’s myths. These are known as Legendary Pokémon. In the Kanto region, players will be able to find several Legendary Pokémon, including the Legendary bird Pokémon—Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. The way to catch these Pokémon in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! is different from how you would catch most other Pokémon. You have to defeat these Pokémon in intense battle before you can have a chance to catch them. It won’t be easy, but once you manage to catch them, these Pokémon can follow you throughout your adventure.

PokéStop Nomination Beta Comes to Brazil and South Korea!

Trainers, Coming soon, we’ll be rolling out the first beta test of the new PokéStop nomination system! This will be the first time that Trainers will be able to submit locations in Pokémon GO. Submissions will be evaluated for future inclusion in the game.

This feature will initially be limited to level 40 Trainers (child accounts excluded) in Brazil and South Korea.

Trainers who meet these initial requirements will be able to nominate potential PokéStops by submitting photographs and descriptions of the locations. Submissions will be reviewed by experienced users in the Ingress Operation Portal Recon (OPR) project.

You can find rules and guidelines on how to submit a PokéStop in our Help Center. Stay tuned for more news as this program expands to other countries, and please accept our thanks for working to make Pokémon GO an even better experience!

Pokémon GO - New Ways for Trainers to Play Together Coming This Fall!

Niantic posted a Summer 2018 recap of the games they are working on and it seems as though it was a very successful summer of 2018 for Pokémon GO. From May 2018, the game saw an increase in active usage of 35%! Niantic also announced that in the fall, there will be new ways for Trainers to play Pokémon GO together.

Image

The Rise of AR, Summer Adventures and Updates for the Fall

It’s been an incredible summer for the team here at Niantic with a flurry of activity all around the globe. More than 400,000 Trainers joined our three global Pokémon GO events in Dortmund, Germany, Chicago, USA, and Yokosuka, Japan and millions more joined together to play with them in a series of global quests to unlock rewards for all players. There is nothing quite like strolling through a beautiful park catching Pokémon with thousands of other players on a gorgeous summer day.

Even more inspiring for us at Niantic was the site of people from all walks of life, all ages, families and friends coming together to enjoy these mega adventures together. And as many of you Trainers know, the fun of playing together wasn’t restricted to these mega events. Pokémon GO Community Days have become regular monthly celebrations organized locally by Trainers around the world.

Over the summer, tens of millions of Trainers around the world played Pokémon GO together every month, with a 35% increase in active usage since May. Since we introduced the new Social features at the end of June, more than 113 million Friend connections have been made and 2.2 billion Gifts have been sent to friends, showcasing how Trainers truly enjoy interacting with one another and playing together.

While the headlines are filled with examples of technology being used to divide us, our experiences this summer deepen our conviction that technology can be harnessed to enhance our lives in a positive way and bring us all closer together and strengthen our connection with the communities where we live and play.

To take that idea even further, we’ve been working with the Knight Foundation on a host of programs to tie AR games to civic engagement. We recently announced a new Fellowship program that will provide select community leaders the tools to integrate Pokémon GO into Open Street events in cities across the U.S. If you’re near Charlotte, North Carolina on September 30 or Macon, Georgia on October 7 make sure to check out these unique events that will take Trainers on a tour across these historic cities.

Meanwhile, back at Niantic HQ, we are eagerly planning even better events for next year!

Getting ready for an exciting Fall

Even as summer fades in the Northern Hemisphere, we are working on some surprises for Pokémon GO this Fall to give Trainers even more ways to play together.
