Re: Re: 67: ダブルバトル!ピカチュウ・ワルビルVSペンドラー・ガマゲロゲ!!
This episode was pretty enjoyable comparable to the last one. It was interesting to see Satoshi take on the role of a mentor to Nick, and let him borrow his Pikachu.
I thought that Glen was a really funny character, as he looked and acted like a teenager when he was actually really young. The battle was enjoyable and seeing the Sunglasses Warubiru's sunglasses getting knocked off twice was also quite humorous. The animation for Drain Punch was strange since it was green. It would habe been cool to see the double battle being conducted by more experienced trainers, but I guess then it would not have been that unique. It's nice to see that children also take an interest in Pokémon battling, although I was disappointed that even the Shimama and Minezumi were borrowed. I felt sorry that there were no wild Pokémon at all in the city for the children to play with. I found it hard to believe that the Sunglasses Warubiru followed Pikachu for so long without being seen, although presumably it did before it appeared in previous episodes. It will be interesting to see what it adds to Satoshi's party. |

I thought this episode was just so-so. It was nice to hear about some mythology of the Isshu Region and the flashbacks were interesting, but aside from those nothing really stood out in this episode.
I liked the humor the elder Professor Araragi had when traversing the traps, and his voice just made it funnier. The "battles" weren't really spectacular though, and I was rather disappointed that most of the traps could simply be dealt with by one Pokémon, as well as the fact that Professor Araragi's father didn't appear to have any Pokémon. Looking at the preview for this episode, I had thought that it would be similar to the Desumasu episode, which was actually somewhat scary, but it wasn't. Before watching this episode, I had no idea that Desukaan walked on all fours. Since it appeared to be able to levitate, I thought it would just float like other Ghost Pokémon. |

This was a pretty decent episode. The battle was great and it was nice to see the teamwork among the Pokémon on both teams, although I thought it was pretty likely that the Rock Pokémon would defeat the Bug Pokémon. The preview made it seem like this episode would be focused on Shubargo not obeying Belle and not on any battles, so it was a nice surprise to see the battle. The graphics showing Shell Smash really impressed me.
It was interesting how Professor Araragi could use her computer to find out what moves a Pokémon knew. Also, I was intrigued as to why a machine was required to trade Pokémon. Maybe just swapping Pokémon isn't official enough. There was one thing that I found hard to believe about this episode, which was that Gantoru fainted after taking a resisted attack, while during the last gym battle it took countless super-effective attacks and still managed to prevail. |

Wow I actually guessed right, although it was more that I just picked my favorite Pokémon from the choices. I wished it could be distributed in the US as well.

After watching this episode, I couldn't help but recall the episode featuring Dangoro and Team Rocket a while back. There were many similarities between those two episodes. Come to think of it, I'm kind of surprised that Team Rocket didn't cause the Tsunbear problems by destroying their habitat or something.
This was an interesting episode, but I wished that it could have focused more on the stones Team Rocket was trying to steal from the cave, maybe with an investigation by Professor Araragi, like she did when she revived the Archen. It was really unexpected when the stones absorbed enough electricity and acted as magnets. Also I wonder why Team Rocket didn't try to take everything from the cave, seeing as how it was difficult (at least for me) to distinguish between the stones they were harvesting and the cave in general. That Satoshi and the others let Team Rocket get away with a sample of the stones was disheartening for me to see. I really felt disappointed that they allowed Team Rocket get away with anything, and I wonder why Satoshi didn't use his Hatobo or anything. Hopefully this isn't a trend that will continue in subsequent episodes. With that said, it also strikes me as curious that Belle didn't mention her plans to trade Choromaki for Professor Araragi's Kaburumo earlier. It would have been something to look forward to, instead of feeling forced coming all of a sudden. Nevertheless I look forward to watching a trade in the anime. |

Re: Re: BW 63: 地底のジム戦VSヤーコン!!/Chitei no gym sen VS Yacon!!
I liked this episode as well. It really showed how strong Mijumaru has become with Satoshi, surviving multiple hits from Warubiru and proving strong enough to defeat it in the end, even with the sandstorm raging for most of the battle.
I was struck by how different the three battles were. The first was really realistic and the way Satoshi managed to pull off a win at the end was what I expected to happen. The second was rather funny, with Tsutarja not even taking a hit from Gamagaru. I was surprised that Yacon didn't see what was coming until it was too late, although honestly I don't think Mero Mero has appeared much in the anime until this season. His reaction to it was pretty funny as well. I found the last part very hard to believe. I mean, how many (super-effective)hits did Dangoro take from Doryuzu before evolving? And even after that Gantoru took a few more hits before defeating Excadrill with two attacks, one of which should have been doubly-resisted. Not to mention that this was its first battle! Even if Doryuzu was unable to get its last attack in, Gantoru should have fainted long before that. And I can't understand Satoshi's reasoning behind using a never-before-used Pokémon as his last Pokémon in a gym battle against a Pokémon that doubly resists it. Even Kurimiru's evolution during his first gym battle pales in comparison to this. I guess the only explanation is that his Dangoro was at an incredibly high level when he captured it. On a different note, Mijumaru's and Doryuzu's spinning attacks (Rapid Spin?) looked really similar. I wondered if they were the same attack. Well, anyways I'm looking forward to the next episode. Pikachu and the other Pokémon looked pretty funny without electricity. |

Re: Re: BW 62: トルネロスVSボルトロスVSランドロス!(後編)/Tornelos VS Voltolos VS Landlos! (kōhen)
This was a pretty interesting episode, although it didn't really seem like Landorus was really the trio "master," since it wasn't able to persuade the other two to stop fighting until a fair amount of time later. It was pretty smart with its attacks though, and it seemed like it could predict what the other two were going to do. I wonder what happened to the stone tablets after the fight, and if there was a backstory connecting them to the respectible Pokémon. Otherwise it would be weird that they would fight over the tablets being broken.
The lasers Team Rocket used were pretty far-fetched, but nonetheless it was exciting to see Team Rocket's plans foiled again. I felt kind of disappointed that Satoshi only seems to be using Dangoro to help with problems and not for battling. He's used it to rescue the Tabunne, keep the train running again Team Rocket, and to destroy the laser machine in this episode. I'd really like to see it used in some battles, especially since it seemed a formidable opponent before Satoshi caught it. I hope they don't just make it evolve during its first battle like they did with Kurumiru. |

Re: Re: BW 61: トルネロスVSボルトロスVSランドロス!(前編)/Tornelos VS Voltolos VS Landlos! (zenpen)
This was a nice episode with a lot of action. I liked seeing Satoshi and the others try resisting the Tornerosu and Voltrosu. It was rather surprising that they seemed to be unfazed regardless of what attack they took, even when they were fighting each other. I wasn't sure what the "miko" that Iris was supposed to be was. The strategies that they came up with involving two Pokémon were really interesting.
The title was rather misleading since Landorosu didn't really make an appearance this episode, other than in Yuto's story. I was kind of surprised to find that the fukkatsusou was a real item. Also, I wonder why Yacon said he couldn't battle even though he didn't do anything to help the situation. I didn't really understand what happened to the Grass Pokémon as well. Hopefully the next episode will make things clearer. I'm really looking forward to it. |

Re: Re: BW 60: デントとポッド兄弟バトル!バオップVSヤナップ!!/Dent to Pod kyōdai battle! Baoppu VS Yanappu!!
This episode wsa pretty cool, although I can't help but think that it was a filler seeing as how Pod would have had to travel pretty far to catch up to Dent.
I really enjoyed Dent's talk on how it is important to not just have 4 moves of the same type on a Pokémon. It was pretty nice of the anime to mention strategy and also it really makes sense for Baoppu to learn Solarbeam because it hits all types that Baoppu is weak to for super-effective damage. It was also just cool to see a Gym leader appear again. I didn't really notice the difference between the eyes of Baoppu and Yanappu until this episode. I was surprised to hear Nurse Joy call Satoshi by name to tell him that Yakon was back. I guess I'd never heard Nurse Joy say a character's name before. It was also funny when Satoshi strayed away from officiating the match and had to be reminded to do so by Iris. As a side note, I wish Team Rocket had kept their outfits from the earlier episodes. I think it makes them look more capable and serious. |
