Details about the upcoming Pocket Monsters XY Special: The Strongest Mega Evolution ~Act I~ (ポケットモンスター XY 特別編 最強メガシンカ　～Act I～) special were announced on the official Japanese Pokémon website. The first part of the special will air on April 3rd, 2014 from 19:00 to 19:30.

Story

"Mega Evolution": A new form of evolution first introduced in the Kalos region. However, is mega evolution something all Pokémon are capable of?
This story is centered around a young Trainer named Alan and his partner Lizardon. "To master Mega Evolution, to defeat all mega evolved Pokémon and stand on top as the strongest": That is the goa of Alan's journey.
As they travel around, Alan and Lizardon engage in a Mega Evolution Battle against a Mega Absol and a Mega Gablias. And then, they battle Zumi of the Elite Four. Does Zumi have a mega evolved Pokémon as well...? Why is Alan so obsessed with Mega Evolution? And what is the true purpose of Alan's journey?

	Alan (アラン): A Trainer who travels around to "master Mega Evolution and stand on the top as the strongest". Although he studied Mega Evolution with Professor Platane once, he... His partner Lizardon can mega evolve into Mega Lizardon X. 「メガシンカを極め、最強の頂点に立つ」ため、旅を続けるトレーナー。かつてはプラターヌ博士と共にメガシンカの研究を行っていたのだが…。パートナーのリザードンはメガリザードンＸにメガシンカする。
	Manon (マノン): A new Trainer just starting her journey. She refers to her partner Harimaron as "Hari-san", and always asks it for help. How does she get involved with Alan's journey? 旅を始めたばかりの初心者トレーナー。 パートナーのハリマロンを「ハリさん」と呼び、いつも助けてもらってばかり。アランの旅にどう関わっていくのか？
	Zumi (ズミ): A member of the Kalos region's Elite Four. In addition to being part of the Elite Four, he is also a chef. His partner Kamex can mega evolve into Mega Kamex, and gives Alan's Lizardon a real run for its money. カロス地方・四天王の一人。四天王でありながら、料理人（シェフ）としての一面を持つ。 パートナーのカメックスはメガカメックスにメガシンカをし、アランのメガリザードンと壮絶な展開に！？
	Ayaka (アヤカ): A girl who also gives Alan a tough battle. Her partner Absol can mega evolve into Mega Absol. Also, she will be battling Satoshi in this year's movie!? 彼女もアランと激しいバトルを展開する。 パートナーのアブソルはメガアブソルにメガシンカする。 実は今年の映画でサトシとバトルをすることに！？
	Louis (ルイ): His appearance is intense, and so is his battling skills. He has a fierce battle with Alan over a Mega Stone. His partner Gablias can mega evolve into a Mega Gablias. インパクト大の見た目が強烈だが、バトルの腕も強烈！ メガストーンを巡ってアランと激しいバトルを繰り広げる。パートナーのガブリアスはメガガブリアスにメガシンカする。
