The edit page for this episode took a lot of time a lot of different people helping, so I'd first like to thank them for all their assistance.

The English dub had so many complete rewrites in this episode that only a fragment of the original concept of this episode was left in the end. There was at least two running gags in this episode, one about Satoshi being 'fourth' and the other was the 'number' one. Kojiro's ochazuke (茶漬け) (rice and tea) was also referenced numerous times and that was cut out as well.

A lot of funny puns in the Japanese original, and with a bit of creative thinking, they were able to be translated while keeping the original spirit of the line intact. I like the translation we were able to get for Kojiro's line (http://www.pocketmonsters.net/episodes/31#Edits-edit1285): My advice is to not dice my rice; it is absolutely not nice! which keeps an almost literal translation intact while keeping the 'cha' (チャ) repetition and replacing it with 'ice'.

There has also been quite a discussion on the moral of this episode being the destruction of a dam for 'environmental' reasons. Hydroelectric power is a renewable energy source and has little pollution compared to other electrical generating methods. Most modern dams take into consideration the large reservoirs required and their impact on animal life and try to mitigate the impact.

A lot of lines were also cut from the English dub and no dialog replaced them. Either they couldn't think of anything to replace it or it was just easier to not even bother.

What a poor episode, which, as many of the episodes of very first season, didn't make much sense.
Digda, reaching the speed of light? For real?! Digda, planting entire forests? For real?!
As for the plot... well, no comment.

What a poor and mediocre episode, with a really poor and mediocre 'plot'...

Summary:
Satoshi, Takeshi, Kasumi and Pikachu get lost as they try taking a road deep into the mountains. As they follow an animal trail not listed on the map, the silence is suddenly broken by the sound of a huge explosion. The startled group hurry towards where the sound came from, and discover a construction site for a huge dam that's bustling with tractors.

The construction foreman tells Satoshi and friends that a group of the underground Pokémon Digda have been hindering their work recently, preventing the construction of the dam from proceeding, and that he has made a call for talented Pokémon Trainers to get rid of these Digda for them.

Since the Trainers who successfully manage to get rid of the Digda will be given a complimentary stay at a luxurious hot spring resort, lots of Trainers have answered his call... and Satoshi spots his rival Shigeru among them......
