The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced new evolutions for the starters, gameplay features and a special demo for the upcoming Pokémon games Sun and Moon. High resolution images from the press release have been added to our Imageboard thread.

FIRST-PARTNER POKÉMON EVOLUTIONS, A SPECIAL DEMO VERSION AND MORE ANNOUNCED FOR POKÉMON SUN AND POKÉMON MOON!

New Pokémon, gameplay features, a Special Demo Version and Mega Evolution details revealed for upcoming Pokémon games.
The Pokémon Company International showcased a bunch of new information for the latest games in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, coming to Europe on 23 November and available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

The evolved forms of the three first-partner Pokémon, Dartrix, Torracat and Brionne, were unveiled:

Dartrix Torracat Brionne
Thumbnail Thumbnail Thumbnail
Type: Grass-Flying Type: Fire Type: Water
The Blade Quill Pokémon Dartrix evolves from Rowlet. Dartrix attacks by throwing its knife-edged feathers, and it possesses extremely sharp senses. This Pokémon can detect opponents behind it and can throw feathers to strike them without even seeing them. This Pokémon cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment it has. The Fire Cat Pokémon Torracat evolves from Litten. This Pokémon produces flames for its attacks from a bell-like sac attached at the base of its throat. Torracat has a great love for battle and will attack relentlessly. Its mane can sense what is going on around it, even in the dark, and is able to detect the presence of hidden enemies. The Pop Star Pokémon Brionne evolves from Popplio. Brionne can dance in perfect time with others and is always cheery and positive. A very hard worker, Brionne learns dances by imitating other members of its colony and can sometimes even learn dances from humans. As this Pokémon dances, it creates balloons and slaps them into its target, making them explode and deal damage to its opponents.

In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, communication features are gathered together in the new Festival Plaza. Players will be able to see other people playing near them, or other players that are connected to the internet to battle or trade. By talking to people and listening to their requests in Festival Plaza, players can receive Festival Coins. There are cool stores to spend Festival Coins in, such as dye houses, goody shops (where rare items are sold) and even bouncy castles for Pokémon to train in. As players gather more Festival Coins, their Festival Plaza will rank up, yielding rewards and making more activities available. Players will even gain the ability to host missions, where multiple players can work together to try to achieve certain goals.

Another new feature that was announced was Poké Pelago. In Poké Pelago, Pokémon that are stored in a PC Box can explore a variety of isles, play on athletic equipment and enjoy other fun activities. If players send many Pokémon to Poké Pelago, they can develop more facilities on the isles and also develop new kinds of isles. As these isles are developed and increase in number, they will allow players to obtain items and even raise Pokémon.

Mega Evolution is making a return as well. Pokémon that were able to Mega Evolve in previous Pokémon games will also be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. The Mega Stones for Pokémon with the capability to Mega Evolve that appear in the Alola region may be received from characters in the game or obtained from special shops.

The Pokémon Global Link will be updated for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon and will be available from the games’ launch date. The updated Pokémon Global Link site will have new features, including new online competitions, global missions and more. More information and features on the upcoming site can be found here.

The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version was also unveiled and will be available to download directly from Nintendo eShop or via the official Nintendo website starting from 18 October. The Special Demo Version introduces players to the Alola region and features Ash-Greninja, the Pokémon that appears alongside the hero Ash in the animated TV series Pokémon the Series: XYZ. Players will be able to transfer their Ash-Greninja from the Special Demo Version to their full version of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon once the game launches on 23 November.

The Pokémon Company Support has posted a thread on their FAQ page in regards to a number of issues with the Pokémon October 2014 Newsletter distribution. Many people have yet to receive their codes via email and some that have received the email have received blank codes. Players in the United States and Canada have already had to wait a week for the demo compared to many countries in the world and they are now having to wait even longer. Nintendo has had a number issues this year releasing digital content via the Nintendo Network including the delayed release of Pokémon Bank.

I haven't received my Alpha Ruby/Omega Sapphire demo code - Original Message

It has come to our attention that some users have not yet received their copy of the newsletter, and that some who have are reporting that the code for the Alpha Ruby/Omega Sapphire Demo is not appearing properly in the message.

We’re working closely with our service partner to resolve the issue of non-displaying codes and hope to see the issue resolved shortly. This should not require us to re-send the message as once the error is corrected users will then see the code appear in their original newsletter email.

Take to the Skies and Soar in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias Mega Evolve and Help Trainers Navigate the Hoenn Region by Air, Special Demo Version Details, New Mega-Evolved Pokémon, and Gameplay Features Revealed

14 October 2014— Today, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced that the Legendary Pokémon Latios can be obtained in Pokémon Omega Ruby, while Latias can be obtained in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the titles launch 28 November 2014 for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS systems. These high-flying Dragon- and Psychic-type Pokémon can Mega Evolve and fly freely through the skies of the Hoenn region. Trainers can hop on the back of their Mega Latios or Mega Latias and navigate the region through the air at high speed while performing midair tricks and hairpin turns. This brand-new method of travel, called Soar, takes a player’s Pokémon adventure to new heights and provides access to Mirage spots, where rare Pokémon—including Legendary Pokémon—and valuable items may appear.

It was also revealed today that Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire players will be able to obtain the Eon Ticket later this year, granting them access to the Hoenn region’s Southern Island, where they can encounter and catch Latias in Pokémon Omega Ruby or Latios in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. This is the only way players can catch these Legendary Pokémon in-game, as they cannot be caught during normal gameplay. More details about when and how players can obtain the Eon Ticket will be announced later this year.

Special Demo Version from October 15th!

From tomorrow Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS owners can embark on a special Hoenn adventure by downloading the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version. New Mega-Evolved Pokémon: Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill!

Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill will make their debut in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

megamega

Boasting increased Special Attack and high Speed, Mega Pidgeot makes quick work of its opponents. Pidgeot can learn the Flying-type move Hurricane, which creates a chaotic storm around the target, potentially causing confusion. Coupled with its No Guard Ability, which allows all moves to land a hit regardless of accuracy, Mega Pidgeot can be a saving grace in any battle.

Upon Mega Evolving, poisonous stingers on Beedrill’s tail and arms grow, new barbs sprout from its legs, and its Attack receives a boost. The Bug-type move Fell Stinger raises Beedrill’s Attack stat by two stages when it causes an opponent to faint, and its Adaptability Ability raises the power of its moves of the same type from the standard 150% to 200%, making Mega Beedrill a great offensive teammate.

Navigate Hoenn Adventures with PlayNav Plus!

PokéNav Plus is a new tool designed to help players navigate their journey across the Hoenn region. PokéNav Plus is packed with applications to help players find hidden or specific types of Pokémon in tall grass via the DexNav, check all kinds of Hoenn region information via the AreaNav, and view news from around Hoenn and from other players whom you’ve passed with BuzzNav.

The PlayNav function offers three popular features that first appeared in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y— the Player Search System (PSS), Pokémon-Amie, and Super Training. The PSS allows players to trade Pokémon and battle with others nearby or around the world with a Wi-Fi connection. Trainers can play with their Pokémon and feed them treats called Poké Puffs in Pokémon-Amie, and the bond between Trainer and Pokémon will grow. Super Training is a fun way to prepare your Pokémon team for battle. PlayNav also allows players to manage their O-Powers, special advantages that can be kept or shared with others as the game progresses, and view announcements via the Holo Caster.
