Pokémon Masters - A Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 2)

Posted by Sunain | October 17th 2019 at 10:12 AM EDT

In a follow up to their first Pokémon Masters Team message, Pokémon Masters Producer Yu Sasaki and Operations Producer Tetsuya Iguchi have posted a second message going into a bit more detail about the upcoming changes and improvements to the game.

Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 2)

Hello to all Trainers out there, and thank you for playing Pokémon Masters.
We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters, Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi, and we’ve got a new message for you. Since sharing our first message, we’ve received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from many Trainers. We’ve also heard that you’d like us to go into more detail about our upcoming plans and that you’re eager to see these improvements in-game. The development team is closely following your feedback, and we’re working toward delivering a more rewarding game experience.

While the development team is exploring which adjustments can be implemented quickly—and which will require a little more time—we have set up a development timeline that extends from now until March of next year.

As producers, we would like to provide a more enjoyable experience when it comes to scouting sync pairs, training them, and battling with them. We also want to take another look at the structure of events and refine them so that they’re more fun for players. Just because our schedule goes into March doesn’t mean you’ll have to wait that long to notice a difference. Various improvements will be made along the way as we continue to monitor your feedback.

In our first message, we stated four areas of focus:

1. Insufficient content
2. Lack of appealing rewards
3. Difficulty/design
4. Poor usability

Our schedule is built around these areas.

1. New Content Schedule

November: Reward adjustments and additions

To start, we are focusing on improving the rewards planned for upcoming events. We want to do something for everyone who is currently playing Pokémon Masters, even if it’s not a major change

December: Game balance adjustments (battle design); addition of events from which you can get sync pairs; co-op play improvements; and more display options for your sync pairs on the Dex screen.

We’re planning to improve the UI, game performance, and game balance (battle design). We’re also making adjustments so that there will be new events from which you can obtain sync pairs. We’ve heard your thoughts regarding events up to now, and as we move forward on future updates, we’ll continue to value your open and honest feedback.

January: Sync pair training system expansion; training event improvements

To achieve our goal of allowing players to strengthen sync pairs in their own way, we are going to expand the ways you can develop and train your sync pairs. Training is an extremely important aspect of this game, so we’re working hard to ensure that we create a system that has a lot of depth. We will also revamp training events to make them more enjoyable.

February: New single-player content

With new single-player content on the way, we look forward to seeing players build unique teams and develop new strategies.

March: Six-month anniversary; story event updates

March marks six months since the release of Pokémon Masters, and we intend to bring you a quality celebration experience. We will also revamp story events to better emphasize one of the original goals of the game: showing the bonds between Trainers and Pokémon.

As we continue to listen to feedback and work toward implementing these updates, there is always a possibility the above points may change. Ultimately, we will continue working toward delivering a game experience that players will enjoy.

2. Reward Adjustments

Right now, we have four adjustments planned for reward distribution.

1. After the Electric-Type Training Event, we will increase the number of rewards available in the Exchange Items menu for all future training events.
  • More Gym Leader Notes
  • More items for unlocking a sync pair’s level cap
2. Starting in November, we will increase the number of non-paid gems given out monthly.
  • Gems that can be earned from completing existing events
  • Gems that can be received from event log-in bonuses
In addition, we are preparing a special log-in bonus for the first week of November.

3. We’re adding rewards to the Exchange Items menu for story events.
  • 3★ and 4★ Power-Ups will be available
4. The rewards for completing courses and supercourses will be adjusted.
  • Additional bronze Buff Blends, bronze Tech Tonics, and bronze Aid Ades will be added to the Very Hard rewards
Currently, we are focused on making the adjustments listed above in a timely manner. We understand there has been other feedback regarding rewards, and we are working to make additional adjustments in the future. We hope you enjoy the quick boost in the meantime.

What to Expect in the Next Message

We want Pokémon Masters to bring out the charm of sync pairs, allow you to train your favorites, and inspire you to create your own dream team. As we work toward that goal, we’ll continue to make various improvements and focus on the areas of game difficulty/design and poor usability.

We plan to start addressing game performance issues in our December update, and our next producer letter will provide more details on these improvements:
  • Device temperature while playing the game
  • Co-op battle pacing
  • Battery consumption
  • Load times
We’ll continue to update you on new content, and we look forward to sharing more exciting updates in our next producer letter.

Regarding Our Update Timeline

We’d like to thank you once again for your feedback and for supporting Pokémon Masters. Like fans, we want these improvements in the game as soon as possible, but we are also working carefully to ensure that we do not sacrifice quality in the process. We hope you enjoy the reward adjustments in November’s events and also look forward to the exciting content coming in December.

As we move forward, we hope to improve not only the game but also the speed at which we can deliver future content. We appreciate your patience and thank you once more for playing Pokémon Masters.

Our next producer letter is scheduled for November 7. Schedule and message content are subject to change.

Pokémon Masters - A Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 1)

Posted by Sunain | October 10th 2019 at 07:07 PM EDT
Tags: Pokémon Masters
Comments: 0

The producer of Pokémon Master Yu Sasaki posted an open letter about the game on the Pokémon Master's official website. The letter addresses some of the issues that the game is currently facing and their goals to fix the most common concerns from the community.

A Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 1)

Thanks for playing Pokémon Masters.

I’m Yu Sasaki, the producer of Pokémon Masters.

I’d like to sincerely thank you for downloading and playing Pokémon Masters. We’d also like to thank you for the feedback you’ve provided across both the game’s social media channels and the fan communities. We’ve taken your feedback to heart. At this time, we’d like to look back at the game’s activity since launch and update you all about its future direction.

I’ll also be joined by a new producer, Tetsuya Iguchi. He will provide the Pokémon Masters team with the benefits of his years of experience managing and operating mobile games.

Together, we will work toward improving the game experience for everyone.

The following is from Mr. Iguchi and myself, discussing both current concerns and the future direction of the game.

Addressing Primary Issues

We would like to address what we believe to be the three biggest areas of concern since the game’s launch.

First, as you know, there have been bugs and other issues that have impaired your enjoyment of this game.

Some of the feedback we received was regarding which bugs we prioritized fixing first and how quickly we were able to fix them. We fully understand and appreciate these concerns as it’s not our intention to provide a poor user experience. Rather, our focus was on fixing any bug that affected game mechanics or progression first. Moving forward, we will carefully prioritize critical issues and their potential solutions. We will also redouble our efforts to address issues in a timely fashion as our team continues to streamline its operational processes.

In the past, we acknowledged issues such as the Dire Hit description and the sync move power issue. For those and other matters, we provided gems as compensation. Player satisfaction remains our top priority, and we understand how these kinds of issues may compromise it.

Second, we acknowledge the two most common concerns from the community:

· There is not enough content for players to enjoy.
· The overall battle difficulty and design are not satisfactory.

Our original plan was to have players progressing through the main story while at the same time tackling co-op battles and EX Challenges throughout September and October. That said, we understand players have quickly progressed through all available content and feel dissatisfied with the current offerings.

As fans ourselves, we also feel a great sense of urgency to provide more quality content for players to enjoy. We’re working hard to address this as soon as possible.

Our community has shared a great deal of feedback regarding battle design, user interface and experience, and the battle-centric nature of the game. We understand that the EX Challenge design has proven unpopular among many fans.

We recognize the importance of adjusting these elements. We will address our plans to improve in these areas in greater detail in the next producer letter.

Ideally, we would have been able to provide a message like this much sooner, but it was crucial for us to carefully consider your feedback and the best long-term solutions to the complex challenges involved with addressing these concerns. We also prioritized severe bug fixes and future content updates.

Now that our team has grown, we feel we are better equipped to handle the unique concerns of our global operations and will ensure that future communication with our players is more consistent.

We’d also like to assure our community that the feedback we’ve received, whether it was through our official community/support channels or through player communities (like Reddit), has been carefully considered and discussed with the development team. In the future, we hope to improve both the speed and transparency of our messaging to players.

Plans to Address Current Issues

We would like to again thank you for the feedback you’ve provided. Both positive and negative comments help decide future content and operations, and they improve the game for everyone. The current areas of focus are as follows:

1. Lack of content
2. Lack of appealing rewards
3. Difficulty/design
4. Poor usability

Regarding #2, this is feedback that we can address relatively quickly. Please look forward to updates in the near future. For #1, #3, and #4, these issues will take time to fully address, but we will be sure to keep players updated about our progress.

Future Direction

Our goal is to provide users with an enjoyable experience that’s unique to the world of Pokémon Masters. In the near future, we will provide a more detailed road map, but for now we can share the following short-term plans:

· More story events
· Revised reward system

Final Message from the Producers

We’re disappointed we did not meet the expectations of our community, and for this, we sincerely apologize. It’s our intention that this does not happen again. Hearing these opinions from fellow Trainers has deepened our sense of commitment to deliver a game we can all be proud of. We are very appreciative of all the feedback—both critical and positive.

Our goal is to create an experience like the fans witnessed in that first animated trailer:
Gathering iconic sync pairs and tackling tough challenges as you grow and strengthen bonds with your team.

We believe that by needing to focus too much on specific skills, players felt forced into a situation where all team compositions looked identical, and there was an overall sense that there was only one correct approach for each challenge. What we hope to create is an environment where fans can partner with their favorite sync pairs and find unique solutions to entertaining challenges.

Both the development and operations teams are fully committed to improving this game and creating a memorable experience for all fans to enjoy. We thank you for all of the time you’ve shared with us already—and for the generous feedback you’ve provided that has helped us determine how the game’s future will unfold.
