The official Pokémon website has announced that Pikachu, Raichu, and Pichu will be in Max Raid Battles from August 6th, 2020 until August 16th, 2020 in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

Discover Pikachu, Raichu, and Pichu in Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield

Start searching those Pokémon Dens! The Pikachu Mass Appearance event runs through August 16.

Your Pokémon collection in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield is about to get a lot more yellow! A Pikachu Mass Appearance event is happening now until August 16 at 4:59 p.m. PDT. During this event, Pikachu, Raichu, Alolan Raichu, and Pichu will appear more frequently in Max Raid Battles. Lucky players may even encounter a Shiny Pikachu.

To challenge these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you'll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet. Then, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den in the Wild Area, you can walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. During this event, Pikachu are more likely to appear as Gigantamax Pokémon, so keep checking dens.

Good luck battling and catching the Pikachu family in this Pikachu Mass Appearance until August 16.

The official Pokémon website has announced that the Ranked Battles August 2020 Season details.

Earn Battle Points, Armorite Ore, and Gold Bottle Caps in the Ranked Battles August Season

Enjoy battling through uncharted waters as Pokémon found on the Isle of Armor enter the fray.

The latest season of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Ranked Battles has begun, and this month is a great time to show off how you've developed your strategies. The battle rules are the same as in July, so use what you've learned from the first round of battles with Pokémon from the Isle of Armor. Test your skills in head-to-head battles against players around the world to move up the leaderboards and earn in-game rewards.

Pokémon in either the Galar Region Pokédex or the Isle of Armor Pokédex that are caught, hatched from Eggs, or received as an official Mystery Gift are eligible for Ranked Battles, except for Mythical Pokémon and most Legendary Pokémon (Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion are permitted). Competitors will be permitted to use all known Pokémon with the Gigantamax Factor, including Venusaur, Blastoise, Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon, and Urshifu. Pokémon of permitted species with the battle-ready symbol may also be used in Ranked Battles.

To start a Ranked Battle, select VS in the X menu, select Battle Stadium, and then select Ranked Battles. You can press the Y Button to see an overview of Ranked Battles before you begin your match.

Before battle, you'll be matched up with other players of similar rank to ensure even competition. When the season concludes, the higher the tier you finish in, the greater your in-game rewards. The August season rewards include the following:

Master Ball Tier

  • Gold Bottle Cap ×3
  • 600 Battle Points
  • Armorite Ore ×30

Ultra Ball Tier

  • Gold Bottle Cap ×1
  • 300 Battle Points
  • Armorite Ore ×10

Great Ball Tier

  • Bottle Cap ×3
  • Ability Capsule ×1
  • 100 Battle Points
  • Armorite Ore ×5

Poké Ball Tier and Beginner Tier

  • Ability Capsule ×1
  • 50 Battle Points
  • Armorite Ore ×1
Good luck making it to the Master Ball Tier as you battle in August, Trainers!
