Episode Location: Viridian Forest, towards Pewter City
Episode Highlights:
- Ash battles a wild Weedle, and nearly captures it. The samurai distracts him, and the Weedle crawls away.
- The samurai wants to battle Ash, claiming he had battled all of the trainers that came from Pallet Town.
- The battle is interrupted midway by a swarm of Beedrill, forcing everyone to flee into the samurai's house for safety.
- Team Rocket show up again, however they are also attacked by the Beedrill and quickly retreat.
Ash realizes he had left Metapod out in the wild while running away, and sets out to find it.
- Metapod evolves into Butterfree, and stops the Beedrill swarm by using Sleep Powder.
- The group continue their journey toward Pewter City

Episode Location: Viridian Forest
Episode Highlights:
- Ash captures a wild Caterpie.
- Ash and Pikachu make their way through Viridian Forest.
- Misty continues to follow Ash through the forest, claiming she will not leave without a new bike, so she joins the adventure for now.
She does not like bugs, and thus insults Caterpie.
- Ash captures a wild Pidgeotto, after having Pikachu weaken it with a Thundershock.
- Team Rocket show up again, aiming to capture Ash's Pikachu, which they claim is a rare one due to the power of its attacks.
Ash obviously does not want to give up Pikachu, and he faces Team Rocket in a Pokemon battle, which he wins with Caterpie's help.
- Caterpie evolves into Metapod.

Episode Location: Viridian City, on the way to Viridian Forest
Episode Highlights:
- Ash and Pikachu arrive in Viridian City. Pikachu receives treatment at the Pokemon Center.
- Misty follows Ash to Viridian City, seeking compensation for her bike.
- Team Rocket make their first appearance, targeting Viridian City's Pokemon Center in search of rare Pokemon to steal.
They break into the Pokemon Center, and are confronted by Misty.
- The Pokemon Center's Pikachus attack Team Rocket, making them 'blast off' for the first time.
- Ash and Misty continue toward Viridian Forest.

Episode Highlights:
- Ash receives a Pikachu as his first Pokemon from Professor Oak, because all of the other starter Pokemon were taken by other trainers
