Kai Munakata works for GAME FREAK in the Research and Development Department and is a video game Programmer. In 2016, he joined GAME FREAK and he began participating in the development of the Pokémon series starting with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. as of 2026, he serves as a lead programmer on the Pokémon Battle System Team within the Research and Development Department. In addition to battle mechanics, he is also responsible for timeline-related programming for demo scenes and move animations.

2016年、株式会社ゲームフリークに入社。『ポケットモンスター ウルトラサン・ウルトラムーン』から『ポケットモンスター』シリーズの開発に参画。現在は研究開発部「ポケモン・バトルシステムチーム」のリードプログラマを務める。バトル以外にも、デモシーンや技演出に関わるタイムライン関連のプログラムも担当している。
