Epic Franchise Reaches Several Firsts

REDMOND, Wash., June 25, 2007 - Today's launch of Pokemon Battle Revolution heralds a number of firsts for Nintendo's hot-selling Wii video game system. Pokemon Battle Revolution is:

* The first online Wii game in the Americas.
* The first Pokemon game for Wii.
* The first Wii game to wirelessly link to Nintendo DS?.
* The first Wii game that lets players use their Nintendo DS as a controller.

Pokemon Battle Revolution is set to become a groundbreaking smash hit this summer.

In battles using NintendoR Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's wireless gaming service, players can use their Wii Remote to compete with friends after exchanging friend codes, or against players of comparable skill. The game automatically searches for other players who are online. The sights and sounds of the game bring the action to life as well: The beautiful graphics show each move in full detail, while the action is narrated by the same announcer from the Pokemon TV show.

The game contains a number of battle modes for different kinds of play. In Colosseum Battle Mode, players have 10 different Colosseums in which to stage their epic challenges. In Nintendo DS Battle Mode, players battle Pokemon that they have raised in their Nintendo DS PokemonR Diamond and PokemonR Pearl games. Up to four players can use their Nintendo DS systems as a wireless controller, which uses the same battle interface found in the DS games.

"Already more than 2 million copies of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have sold in the United States alone," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The arrival of Pokemon Battle Revolution brings those players a whole new set of challenges and, for the first time on Wii, online battles."

Online setup is extremely easy, even for novices. With a few clicks, players are instantly connected, whether they're using a Wii Remote or a Nintendo DS as a controller.

Trainers are fully customizable. Players can select one of three female or three male Trainers and outfit them with clothing, hats and glasses after earning points during competition. Players can even create personalized in-game text for their Trainers to use when they win or lose a battle.

Pokemon Battle Revolution, rated E for Everyone, launches June 25. For more information about the game, visit www.pokemon-games.com. The Official Nintendo Pokemon Battle Revolution Player's Guide is now available at retail.

Pokemon USA, Inc., a subsidiary of The Pokemon Company in Japan, manages the property outside of Asia which includes licensing, marketing, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, an animated TV series, home entertainment, the official Pokemon Web site and an online retail center www.pokemoncenter.com. Just coming off its 10th worldwide anniversary in 2006, Pokemon was launched in Japan in 1996 for play on Nintendo's Game BoyR and has since evolved into a global cultural phenomenon. Pokemon was introduced in North America in September 1998 and today is one of the most popular toy and entertainment properties in the world. For more information, visit www.pokemon.com.

The worldwide innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its Wii, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo GameCube systems. Since 1983, Nintendo has sold nearly 2.4 billion video games and more than 409 million hardware units globally, and has created industry icons like Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Zelda and Pokemon. A wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere. The official website for the highly anticipated Pokemon Trading Figure Game (TFG) has announced that the game will be release in North America on August 15th. The game was released in Australia earlier this year.

Quoted from the Go-Pokemon website: "A brand new game from the creators of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, the Pokemon Trading Figure Game (TFG) lets you play with amazing new collectible figures of your favorite Pokemon!

Pokemon TFG - Charizard. Click for full size imageNext Quest, the first expansion of this incredibly cool game, will include more than 40 unique, high-quality figures. Each features an exciting new spinning mechanic that adds real action to your battles. It's easy to learn, and you'll be ready to battle in minutes.

You spin to see if you can knock out your opponent's Pokemon and send them back to the Pokemon Center. Play Trainer cards to give your Pokemon in the field an extra advantage. And reach your opponent's Goal first to prove you're a true Pokemon Master!"

Below is a frequently asked question list about the trading card game from the official site.

Who developed the Pokemon Trading Figure Game, and how long did it take?
The Pokemon Trading Figure Game (TFG) was designed by Mr. Tsunekaz Ishihara, a general producer for Pokemon and one of the designers of the popular trading card game (TCG), and by Mr. Koichi Oyama and Mr.Masayuki Miura. They spent the last few years preparing the game’s look and feel to ensure the best possible collectible trading figure game.

Why did we decide to make this game?
Collectors and players alike have been asking for a Pokemon collectible figure game for a long time; we’re just now able to give them a game that we feel meets Pokemon’s standards of collectibility and gameplay.

What’s cool or unique about this game?
The game comes with an awesome spinning mechanic for battles that players are going to love. It makes every battle different and provides many different combinations of Pokemon to build a team. The game is also extremely easy to learn, so players will be battling in minutes!

How many Pokemon are in the initial release?
The first release has more than 40 figures, including some favorites like Pikachu and Charizard. We also have special Trainer figures.

What are the similarities or differences between the TFG and the TCG and the video game?
In each game, players can experience the strategies that come from training rare and powerful Pokemon that have a wide variety of attacks. The TFG takes the video game and the TCG to the next level by adding three-dimensional Pokemon to the battle--it really brings the Pokemon to life!

Who makes the figures?
Our figures are all sculpted by Kaiyodo Co. Ltd., of Japan, who have been making excellent models for over 40 years.

What kind of game is it?
It comes with a playmat and lots of figures--so, we see it as a collectible figure game, one that will keep growing with the release of expansions in the future. We suspect players will collect and display the figures almost as much as they battle with them!

Obviously this is a big new game for Pokemon fans and I know a lot of us here in North America have been awaiting its announcement. These are excellent figures and are a must for the Pokemon gamer and collector. For more information and pictures about the TFG, you can visit the links below.
