Nintendo Advises Pokemon Fans: Pre-Orders Top 500,000

Pre-orders for the upcoming Pokemon® Diamond and Pokemon® Pearl video games for the portable Nintendo DS™ have topped one half million in the United States, and Nintendo is advising fans to brace themselves for the next wave of Poke-mania. Based on the huge pre-sales for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, Nintendo expects them to be among the top-selling games for all of 2007.

With four days to go until they arrive, more than 533,000 pre-orders have been taken for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. Already these games have more than doubled the pre-sale numbers of Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, which launched in 2004. Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen went on to sell more than 3.4 million combined in North America.

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have consistently ranked among the top-selling video game products on Amazon.com, and there are still four days until launch.

Pokemon became a nationwide hit the instant it arrived in the United States in 1998. Now a new wave of Pokemon excitement is on its way, complete with more than 100 new Pokemon characters, the ability for players to battle wirelessly on Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection and voice-chat abilities, which act like a cell phone but with connection among friends only.

The Official Nintendo Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Player's Guide also will be available at retail on April 22. For more information about the games, visit www.Pokemon-Games.com

Sarah Brightman to sing Movie 10 Theme: Be With You: Itsumo Soba ni (Always By Your Side)

World renowned soprano singer Sarah Brightman will sing the theme song for July 14's Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl - Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai. Sarah Brightman is best known for her role as Christine Daae in the Broadway play of The Phantom of the Opera and the song 'Time to Say Goodbye' sung by Sarah and Andrea Bocelli.

The single containing "Be With You: Itsumo Soba ni" (Always By Your Side) will be released in Japan on July 11, 2007, a few days before the release of Movie 10. The song will also be on her next album which will be released later this year.

The ballad and the movie will commemorate the ten year anniversary of the Pocket Monsters movie franchise. This also marks the first time that a theme song of a Pokemon movie in Japan is sung by an overseas singer.

It is unknown at this time if the song will also be included in the eventual english dub releases, but one can only hope that they will keep the theme song like they did for Chiisaki Mono in Movie 6.

The Toshiba EMI website is now hosting the Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai preview. The preview in RealVideo and Windows Media Video format includes her theme song "Be with You: Itsumo Soba ni" (Always by Your Side).

I will be with you
You are my fearful love, sent me from high above, You are the one
I will be with you
I'm going where the wind blows, going where the lost ones go

Tomy today announced a new arcade game called Pokemon Battrio. Pokemon Battrio is a 3D cell-shaded arcade game that is due to be launched in Japan sometime in July. The game revolves around 3 on 3 battles which is a first for the Pokemon franchise.

First of all, the player calls Pokemon by placing 3 chips on the board. Next, players move the chips on the board according to suitable formation for the turn of "Attack" and "Defense". The Pokemon chip placed closest to the other team is the attacker and the chips furthest away are the defenders. The victory or defeat of the battle is decided in Pokemon's compatibility and the effect of the formation. When the other party's physical strength reaches 0 the player wins.

The Pokemon that will appear in this game is limited to 36, but that number will increase through upgrades in the future.
