Description:Pokémon X and Y (ポケットモンスター Ｘ・Ｙ) were announced during a special Nintendo Direct which Nintendo President Satoru Iwata simultaneously broadcasted worldwide. The games were released worldwide in October of 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS. The names mark the end of the color naming scheme that have been used on all the main handheld games since the series was first released. This also marks the first time that Pokémon games have launched worldwide but it appears that Korea will not be part of the worldwide release as Mr. Iwata did not list it and the on screen caption indicated some countries would not be part of the worldwide release.
Mr. Iwata noted that a significant number of resources were required to localize the games to each countries language and their challenge has always been how to distribute the Pokémon games around the world at the same time while ensuring that the quality remains high. With the release of Pokémon X and Y, they have been able to overcome this challenge.
