The Pokémon Company has announced the details for the Global Challenge 2022 Spring competition for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Our 8th Generation Online Competitions page has been updated with these details.

| Region: International Registration Period: April 21st, 2022, at 5:00 until May 5th, 2022, at 23:59 UTC Tournament Period: May 6th, 2022 until May 8th, 2022, at 23:59 UTC Ranking Results Announcement: May 2022 Compatible Games: Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Eligible Pokémon: Galar Pokédex No. 001–400, Isle of Armor Pokédex No. 001–210, and Crown Tundra Pokédex No. 001–210 are eligible for battle, as well as the following Pokémon: Mewtwo, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Treecko, Grovyle, Sceptile, Torchic, Combusken, Blaziken, Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, Cresselia, Tornadus, Thundurus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Landorus, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Rowlet, Dartrix, Decidueye, Litten, Torracat, Incineroar, Popplio, Brionne, Primarina, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Necrozma, Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, and Blacephalon. Only two of the following special Pokémon may be registered to your Battle Team: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Zacian, Zamazenta, Eternatus, and Calyrex. Battle Type: Double Battles Entry Gift: Players who participated in the Global Challenge 2022 Spring will receive 50 Battle Points. |
| Take on Pokémon Trainers from around the world in the Global Challenge 2022 Spring. This in-game competition will follow the Ranked Battles Series 12 regulations, matching the current Championship Series season format. Qualifying players who participate in at least three battles during the event will receive 50 BP. Competitors can also earn Championship Points for participating in this event. |
