The producer of Pokémon Master Yu Sasaki posted an open letter about the game on the Pokémon Master's official website. The letter addresses some of the issues that the game is currently facing and their goals to fix the most common concerns from the community.

A Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 3)

Greetings, Trainers. We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters—Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi—here with another message for you. We’d like to thank you for your feedback regarding our first and second producer letters. The development team is currently working on the updates we discussed previously.

Now, we’d like to share what we have in store for you in December. We’ll also share a schedule of the upcoming features and reward adjustments. We know that many of you are eager to see what we have planned for battle updates, and we have information about that as well.

Plans for November through December

Our focus for November is on implementing adjustments for rewards. We also have plans for a rally event that will award items and gems. We hope you’re enjoying the Caitlin story event and the new chapters of the main story. December will bring more events, as well as improvements that will make for a smoother gameplay experience.

November Reward Adjustments

  • Rewards for story events have been revised, starting with the current Caitlin event. The number of gems awarded has increased by 900.
  • Starting with the Ice-Type Training Event on November 14, gems awarded for training events will be increased by 600.
  • The log-in bonus that started on November 1 awards up to 4,200 gems.

For mid-November, we’re planning a special rally event where we will track Trainers’ in-game achievements and announce their progress as they reach different milestones. Our plans for the rally also include other features:
  • A log-in bonus that awards items and gems
  • Additional items and gems that are awarded if milestones are met during the rally
  • We hope you enjoy it!

Mid-December Update

The level cap limit for all sync pairs will be unlocked, increasing their maximum potential level to 120. In addition, a new difficulty category will be added to courses so you can get the new items needed for unlocking the level cap. We will also revise the rewards for Very Hard and Super Hard courses, as well as for Very Hard supercourses.

A new type of event will also debut in early December. In this event, a Trainer who uses a Legendary Pokémon will join the fray. You'll be able to scout this sync pair by participating in this event.

Image

Additional December Update

The update in late December will include overall improvements to the gameplay that will benefit current Trainers. Game balance (battle design) adjustments will give new Trainers a smoother experience right from the start. In addition to the co-op battle pacing and game balance adjustments we told you about in our previous message, this update will also include the following:

  • Improvements to daily missions and the inclusion of daily vouchers*
  • Daily vouchers that can be exchanged for items used to strengthen your sync pairs, located in the daily and monthly item exchange menu*
  • Weekly bingo missions*
  • A sync pair viewing feature*

Image

January and February will also see updates that improve gameplay, including the training event revamp that is planned for January. We’ll share those details with you in the next producer letter.

Battle Stage Updates

Since the release of the game, we’ve received various feedback regarding battles, including co-op battles and EX Challenges. Currently, the difficulty of EX Challenges is very high, and they give limited options for the sync pairs that can be included in a team. We will amend these battles so that you can strategize and create your very own team to enjoy them.

Also, new EX Challenges will be introduced that will be easier and more enjoyable, and the difficulty of existing EX Challenges will be adjusted where necessary.

As for single-player content, we plan to add a new mode called Battle Villa in February. We're designing it to provide a different experience from the battles you've been playing up to now. We hope you look forward to it!

What to Expect in the Next Message

Next time, we will share some images and videos of events we have scheduled for December, as well as our plans for the new year. Our next producer letter is scheduled for November 26.

We are continuing to make the world of Pokémon Masters more enjoyable for players. We appreciate your feedback, so if you have any comments regarding our planned improvements, please don’t hesitate to contact us through the Feedback section in the game.

Thank you once more for playing Pokémon Masters. We look forward to speaking to you again soon.

Sync Pair Scout Issue and Compensation Plan

Earlier, there was an issue which unintentionally caused the sync pair Elesa & Zebstrika to become available in the game through sync pair scouting, which has since been resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused to players looking forward to obtaining this sync pair and those affected by the emergency maintenance. More details about the issue and how impacted players will be compensated are listed below.

Issue Details

  • Certain sync pairs that were not planned to be available unintentionally became obtainable through sync pair scouts.
  • Sync pairs that were not planned to be available were not listed on the Offering Rate screen.

Affected Sync Pairs and Sync Pair Scouts

  • Featured Type Scout
  • - Elesa & Zebstrika

  • Hilda Spotlight Scout
  • - Elesa & Zebstrika

  • 5★-Guaranteed Launch Celebration Scout
  • - Blue & Pidgeot
    - Lyra & Chikorita
    - Hilbert & Oshawott
    - Hilda & Tepig
    - Elesa & Zebstrika

Time Affected

10/15/2019 at 9:48 p.m. - 10/16/2019 at 4:00 a.m.
We have confirmed that this issue has been resolved.

Cause of the Issue

  • When server data was updated at 10/15/2019 at 9:48 p.m. sync pairs listed above were mistakenly included in the available pool of sync pairs.
  • The Offering Rate menu is updated based on live server data, but this only refreshes when sync pair scout events update. Since there was no planned adjustment to sync pair scout event data, the Offering Rate menu did not refresh to display the correct rates, but instead showed the rates prior to 10/15/2019 at 9:48 p.m..
  • This system was based on the assumption that live sync pair data wasn't going to be updated, so rates wouldn't need to change. As a result, there was a period of time when inaccurate rates were displayed.

Compensation Plan

We will return all paid and non-paid Gems used in the affected sync pair scouts during the affected time period. Players will be allowed to keep sync pairs obtained in the affected sync pair scout. Players should allow up to one week to receive Gem returns.

As additional compensation, all players have been sent 3,000 non-paid Gems. This compensation will be available to redeem in-game from now until 11/16/2019 at 3:30 a.m.

In a follow up to their first Pokémon Masters Team message, Pokémon Masters Producer Yu Sasaki and Operations Producer Tetsuya Iguchi have posted a second message going into a bit more detail about the upcoming changes and improvements to the game.

Message from the Pokémon Masters Team (Vol. 2)

Hello to all Trainers out there, and thank you for playing Pokémon Masters.
We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters, Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi, and we’ve got a new message for you. Since sharing our first message, we’ve received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from many Trainers. We’ve also heard that you’d like us to go into more detail about our upcoming plans and that you’re eager to see these improvements in-game. The development team is closely following your feedback, and we’re working toward delivering a more rewarding game experience.

While the development team is exploring which adjustments can be implemented quickly—and which will require a little more time—we have set up a development timeline that extends from now until March of next year.

As producers, we would like to provide a more enjoyable experience when it comes to scouting sync pairs, training them, and battling with them. We also want to take another look at the structure of events and refine them so that they’re more fun for players. Just because our schedule goes into March doesn’t mean you’ll have to wait that long to notice a difference. Various improvements will be made along the way as we continue to monitor your feedback.

In our first message, we stated four areas of focus:

1. Insufficient content
2. Lack of appealing rewards
3. Difficulty/design
4. Poor usability

Our schedule is built around these areas.

1. New Content Schedule

November: Reward adjustments and additions

To start, we are focusing on improving the rewards planned for upcoming events. We want to do something for everyone who is currently playing Pokémon Masters, even if it’s not a major change

December: Game balance adjustments (battle design); addition of events from which you can get sync pairs; co-op play improvements; and more display options for your sync pairs on the Dex screen.

We’re planning to improve the UI, game performance, and game balance (battle design). We’re also making adjustments so that there will be new events from which you can obtain sync pairs. We’ve heard your thoughts regarding events up to now, and as we move forward on future updates, we’ll continue to value your open and honest feedback.

January: Sync pair training system expansion; training event improvements

To achieve our goal of allowing players to strengthen sync pairs in their own way, we are going to expand the ways you can develop and train your sync pairs. Training is an extremely important aspect of this game, so we’re working hard to ensure that we create a system that has a lot of depth. We will also revamp training events to make them more enjoyable.

February: New single-player content

With new single-player content on the way, we look forward to seeing players build unique teams and develop new strategies.

March: Six-month anniversary; story event updates

March marks six months since the release of Pokémon Masters, and we intend to bring you a quality celebration experience. We will also revamp story events to better emphasize one of the original goals of the game: showing the bonds between Trainers and Pokémon.

As we continue to listen to feedback and work toward implementing these updates, there is always a possibility the above points may change. Ultimately, we will continue working toward delivering a game experience that players will enjoy.

2. Reward Adjustments

Right now, we have four adjustments planned for reward distribution.

1. After the Electric-Type Training Event, we will increase the number of rewards available in the Exchange Items menu for all future training events.
  • More Gym Leader Notes
  • More items for unlocking a sync pair’s level cap
2. Starting in November, we will increase the number of non-paid gems given out monthly.
  • Gems that can be earned from completing existing events
  • Gems that can be received from event log-in bonuses
In addition, we are preparing a special log-in bonus for the first week of November.

3. We’re adding rewards to the Exchange Items menu for story events.
  • 3★ and 4★ Power-Ups will be available
4. The rewards for completing courses and supercourses will be adjusted.
  • Additional bronze Buff Blends, bronze Tech Tonics, and bronze Aid Ades will be added to the Very Hard rewards
Currently, we are focused on making the adjustments listed above in a timely manner. We understand there has been other feedback regarding rewards, and we are working to make additional adjustments in the future. We hope you enjoy the quick boost in the meantime.

What to Expect in the Next Message

We want Pokémon Masters to bring out the charm of sync pairs, allow you to train your favorites, and inspire you to create your own dream team. As we work toward that goal, we’ll continue to make various improvements and focus on the areas of game difficulty/design and poor usability.

We plan to start addressing game performance issues in our December update, and our next producer letter will provide more details on these improvements:
  • Device temperature while playing the game
  • Co-op battle pacing
  • Battery consumption
  • Load times
We’ll continue to update you on new content, and we look forward to sharing more exciting updates in our next producer letter.

Regarding Our Update Timeline

We’d like to thank you once again for your feedback and for supporting Pokémon Masters. Like fans, we want these improvements in the game as soon as possible, but we are also working carefully to ensure that we do not sacrifice quality in the process. We hope you enjoy the reward adjustments in November’s events and also look forward to the exciting content coming in December.

As we move forward, we hope to improve not only the game but also the speed at which we can deliver future content. We appreciate your patience and thank you once more for playing Pokémon Masters.

Our next producer letter is scheduled for November 7. Schedule and message content are subject to change.
