Re: TheSpeedGamers announce Weeklong Pokémon Marathon to support Autism
TheSpeedGamers have announced that their next weeklong marathon will be from June 15th, 2012 until June 22nd, 2012. Their objective this time will be to catch all 649 Pokémon throughout the various games of the franchise while raising money for ACT Today!, a charity supporting Autism awareness and treatment. During the marathon, TheSpeedGamers will raffle and auction off Pokémon related items to lucky viewers that tune into their online stream and chat. We hope that TheSpeedGamers are successful in fulfilling their goals for this helpful cause. TheSpeedGamers is a non-profit charity organization that holds gaming marathons which usually last 72 hours to benefit other charities. This organization was founded in March 2008 and has held 25 marathons so far, rasing $309,896.64 for nearly 20 different charities. |

Re: Re: TheSpeedGamers announce Weeklong Pokémon Marathon to support Autism
They plan to catch all 649 Pokémon in just a week?! Well, I wish them good luck... and hope they've prepared everything for Pokémon trade and transfers from previous Gens!
Personally, I've never managed to get all Pokémon in any gen. (except the 3rd one, where I almost got themm all... missed two). To catch them all is a very hefty goal in my opinion... but that makes things even more interesting, actually. This post was lasted edited on 23 Feb 2012 11:29:39AM by Chance

Re: Re: TheSpeedGamers announce Weeklong Pokémon Marathon to support Autism
It's not "just a week", it's "one whole uninterrupted week", ie 168 hours devoted completely to the sole purpose of filling that Pokedex. That's absolutely doable - and they've done similar marathons before, so it's not like we're dealing with people who barely know how these games work here. I wish them all luck.

Re: Re: TheSpeedGamers announce Weeklong Pokémon Marathon to support Autism
My comment was more an indirect rant at the awful transfer system in BW, rather than a lack of skills from the speedrunners.
That being said, I still believe that 168h is still a rather short amount of time to get all 649 Pokémon (for a normal player at least). I wish them all good luck! This post was lasted edited on 24 Feb 2012 12:31:05PM by Chance
