LEGO IDEAS is holding a Pokémon Trading Card Game Challenge where participants can create their own Pokémon TCG card using LEGO bricks. The winner of the challenge will see their build turned into a LEGO set.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Challenge: Build Your Card!

Are you ready to make Pokémon history? Join us in a one-of-a-kind collaboration with Pokémon and unleash your creativity! We're inviting builders from around the world to craft their own Pokémon TCG card using LEGO bricks, elements, and pieces. Imagine your creation becoming an official LEGO® Pokémon™ brick-built Trading Card!

Your Mission: Build a dynamic card, featuring your chosen Pokémon. Let your imagination soar as you bring these iconic creatures to life using LEGO bricks. Your build should be a card with a frame, showcasing your Pokémon in a vibrant and creative way. It can burst through the frame, use the frame as a backdrop, or something we never even thought of. You are the Trainer here. We've provided an indication of size for the frame and a list of some fan-favorite Pokémon to choose from, but the rest is up to you!

Choosing your Active Pokémon: Essential Guidelines for Your Build:

Trainer tips:
  • Your build must contain only one Pokémon and only from the below mentioned list. It must include a frame for the build to appear as a brick-built card
  • It must be an original creation, not a replica or recreation of an existing Pokémon TCG card.
  • The build must be a Full Art Pokémon card.
  • No less than 400 pcs and no more than 2500 pcs must be used
  • The face of the Pokémon must be clearly visible in the upper half of the card. Minifigures are not allowed

How it works

The challenge has following phases:

Building Phase
Your build must follow the Product Ideas guidelines with these exceptions:

  • It must be an original creation, not a replica or recreation of an existing Pokémon TCG card.
  • Your build must not exceed 2500 pieces.
  • Your build must have a minimum of 400 pieces.
  • Your build must be of one of the above mentioned Pokémon
  • The dimensions of the frame must be: H: 30cm/12 inch/37 studs and W: 21.5cm/8.5 inch/26 studs
  • The build must be a Full Art Pokémon card.
  • Minifigures are not allowed

Submit your build by May 6th 2026 at 6:00 AM EST. We recommend submitting 2 days early to allow for potential changes if required. If your build needs edits, you’ll have until May 7th 2026 at 6:00 AM EST to resubmit.

Review Phase
The Review Board will review and select up to 5 builds to move to the Fan Vote on May 28th 2026. Builds are evaluated on:
  • Overall coolness and originality: 50%
  • Inspired details: 25%
  • Best use of LEGO elements: 25%

Voting Phase
  • LEGO Ideas members can vote 1 time for their favorite build between May 28th 2026 and June 11th 2026.
  • The votes will help us decide the Grand Prize of the challenge. Please note: All product ideas that reach the Fan Vote phase will be eligible to become an official LEGO Ideas set. The Fan Vote is an important way for the Review Board to understand fan enthusiasm for specific designs and the overall challenge theme. While a high number of votes is a strong signal of interest, it is not the sole deciding factor. The Review Board will have the final decision on which product idea becomes an official LEGO Ideas set.
