Stir Up a Blizzard with Articuno in Pokémon UNITE

Chill out with this latest license. Have you ever imagined freezing Aeos Island? Now’s your chance with the coolest Ranged Defender around, as Articuno brings its icy talents to Pokémon UNITE. The Freeze Pokémon brings frigid defense to battle by freezing opposing Pokémon with Blizzard and Ice Beam. But that’s not all! By freezing a goal zone with its Unite Move—Ice Wing Whiteout—Articuno can completely stop opposing Pokémon from scoring!

Articuno Basics

Ability: Snow Cloak - After using a move, Articuno is cloaked in frost for a short time, reducing damage taken. If Articuno uses a move to surround itself in snow, it further reduces damage taken and increases the effect’s duration. Icy Wind, Blizzard, and Articuno’s Unite Move apply a freeze counter to opposing Pokémon they hit. If an opposing Pokémon’s freeze counter reaches 5, that Pokémon becomes frozen.

Basic Attack - Articuno hurls ice, applying a slowing effect and dealing damage to opposing Pokémon.

Lv. 1 & 3 Moves

Icy Wind - Articuno blasts a gust of chilled air in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and causing snow to fall, freezing the ground for a short time.

Ice Shard - Articuno hurls a chunk of ice in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. If this move hits an opposing Pokémon that has a freeze counter, that Pokémon becomes instantly frozen. If this move hits an opposing Pokémon that is frozen, the ice shatters to deal additional damage.

Lv. 5 Move

Blizzard - Articuno summons a howling blizzard centered on itself, applying a freeze counter and dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. If an opposing Pokémon’s freeze counter reaches 5, that Pokémon becomes frozen. Blizzard can be upgraded to increase the damage dealt and the rate freeze counters are applied to opposing Pokémon.

Lv. 7 Move

Ice Beam - Articuno shoots out a beam of icy-cold energy in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. If this move hits an opposing Pokémon that has a freeze counter, that Pokémon becomes frozen. If this move hits an opposing Pokémon that is frozen, the ice shatters to deal additional damage. Ice Beam can be upgraded to increase the duration it leaves opposing Pokémon frozen.

Articuno’s Unite Move

Ice Wing Whiteout - Articuno summons a raging blizzard centered on itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. If this move hits one of your team’s goal zones, that goal zone will freeze over, and Pokémon from the opposing team will be unable to score in it. The ice covering the goal zone will disappear after the goal zone receives a set amount of damage from Pokémon from the opposing team.
