The latest information on POKKÉN TOURNAMENT was announced during the Super POKKÉN TOURNAMENT Up-to-Date Information and Play Stage @ Niconico Chokaigi 2015 (超『ポッ拳 POKKÉN TOURNAMENT』最新情報&プレイステージ@ニコニコ超会議2015) segment held on April 26th, 2015 from 11:30 until 12:30 JST. Images from the stream have been added to our Imageboard thread.

Results of the special Twitter campaign were announced and a new Pokémon was revealed for the game. Guests included Imakuni? (イマクニ?), Aya Sakakibara (榊原あや), Hayashi (ハヤシ) and Waki@ (ワキ@). Game Producer Katsuhiro Harada (原田勝弘) was also in attendance and it was MC'd by Ayana Tsubaki (椿姫彩菜). Near the end of the stream, Imakuni? (イマクニ?) performed Pokémon ieru ka na? live.

The official POKKÉN TOURNAMENT has announced two more test locations. The third test round will place April 18th and 19th, 2015 from 9:00 to 23:00 on the 18th and 9:00 to 22:00 on the 19th at: paLo at Nikke Colton Plaza, Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture (パロ市川店) and Molly fantasy f at Aeon Mall, Ibaraki Prefecture (モーリーファンタジー f・茨木店).

A test booth will also be setup at Niconico Chokaigi 2015 (ニコニコ超会議2015) on April 26th and 27th, 2015 at Makuhari Messe. It will be available from 10:00 to 18:00 on the 25th and 10:00 to 17:00 on the 26th. The info has been added to our POKKÉN TOURNAMENT test location page.

The top two players in the NicoNico Ultra Championship 2015 (ニコニコ超選手権2015) tournament get to participate in the NicoNico Ultra Championship 2015 Finals (ニコニコ超選手権2015決勝戦) which will be held at Makuhari Messe as part of Niconico Chokaigi 2015 (ニコニコ超会議2015) on April 26th and 27th, 2015. The winner of the NicoNico Ultra Championship will get the last seat in the Masters Divisions Pokémon World Championships Japan Representative Decision Tournament (ポケモンワールドチャンピオンシップス 日本代表決定大会). Details of this tournament have been added to our 6th Generation Online Competition page.

Description
The competition used the Single Battle format and players could register 3 to 6 of their level 1–100 Pokémon to their Battle Box. Pokémon automatically became Level 50 during battles. A 30-minute time limit for each match was automatically enforced in-game, beginning at the start of each battle. If the outcome had not been determined when the time limit expired, the game automatically applied tiebreakers to determine a winner. At the beginning of each battle, players had 90 seconds to select their Pokémon to battle with. At the beginning of each turn, players had 60 seconds to select a move or change Pokémon in battle. If a player had not made his or her selections at the end of this period, the game automatically made selections for the player. Players could only play 10 rounds per day.

The Monthly Famitsu feat. 2015 January Edition (月刊ファミ通feat.2015年1月号) aired today on NicoNico and it featured new information on the ポッ拳 POKKÉN TOURNAMENT game.

New Information:

  • Playable Characters: Pikachu, Lucario (Mega Lucario), Sirknight (Mega Sirknight), Suicune and Kairiky
  • Players can have support Pokémon and they can be chosen at a Support Set Select screen before each match
  • Supports Sets showcased are: Emonga/Fokko and Tsutarja/Laplace
  • Unlike traditional arcade fighting games that use a stick, POKKÉN TOURNAMENT has its own controller that uses a D-pad with X, Y, A, B and L and R buttons.
  • Button Controls: D-pad to move, A for Pokémon Skill, B for Jump, X for Weak Attack, Y for Strong Attack, L for Pokémon Support, R for Guard
  • As you fill the gauge, you'll enter Resonance burst (共鳴バースト) mode, where you can fire off a Burst Attack (バーストアタック) capable of dealing great amounts of damage
  • Modes: Inter-Store Play Mode (店内対戦モード) features VS CPU or PvP, National Battle (全国対戦モード) and Inter-Arcade Play Mode (店舗間対戦). A Tutorial mode is also available. Cabinets from different arcades are all connected online, so players can fight people all over Japan rather than just people at the same arcade.

Test Locations

There will be a few locations that people will be able to test the game in Japan at the end of January 2015 and early February 2015. It will cost 100yen per play.

The Namco Umeda (namco梅田店) and Namco Lazona Kawasaki (namcoラゾーナ川崎店) locations will have the game on January 30th, 31st and February 1st, 2015. Children under the age of 16 are unable to participate in the test game. The first 200 people each day to answer a questionnaire will receive a Lucario (January 30th), Sirknight (January 31st) or Pikachu (February 1st) Bana passport card.

At the JAEPO2015 Japan Amusement Expo at Makuhari Messe, the game will also be available and the first 500 people to answer the questionnaire on February 14th, 2015 will receive a Kairiky Bana passport card (バナパスポートカード).

The official ポッ拳 POKKÉN TOURNAMENT website has announced that new information about the game will be revealed during the Monthly Famitsu feat. 2015 January Edition (月刊ファミ通feat.2015年1月号) NicoNico broadcast on January 23rd, 2015. No further information was revealed other than for fans to look forward to the broadcast.

We will hold an event at Nico Farre (Tokyo) to celebrate Friday the 21st's release of "Pocket Monsters Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire" with you all!

The event will be streamed at Niconico Live. Follow the event there, then go get a copy of "Pokémon ORAS" afterwards!

By extending our stream, we're going to bring you a special segment!
Thursday October 2nd, we streamed the special Kosuke Enjoys Himself with All His Might! A 7-Hour Pokémon Special. There, Kosuke attempted to beat the Game Boy Advance game "Pocket Monsters Ruby/Sapphire", though unfortunately time ran out before he got through it.

But this is incredible: In this direct continuation, Kosuke once again challenges the game! This stream will start at 12pm Thursday November 20th!

A lot of content from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will be showcased and a special band will perform music from the games. The top two players from the Hoenn Pokémon NicoNico Match (ホウエンポケモン ニコニコマッチ) online tournament will be invited to the finals for that tournament and the battle will take place live on the show. The winner of that final will have a battle against Shigeki Morimoto from Game Freak, Inc., developer of the Pocket Monsters series!!

The live portion of the show will be hosted by Ayana Tsubaki (椿姫彩菜) and Nobuhiko Okamoto (岡本信彦) and that part of broadcast will start at 12:00 JST on November 20th, 2014 and end at midnight. There is going to be some sort of special event taking place before the actual countdown starts at 20:00. GAME FREAK staff members Junichi Masuda, Shigeru Ohmori and Shigeki Morimoto will all make appearances on the show.
