The official Pokémon website has announced that players of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield can encounter Seaking, Pinsir, Heracross, Ninjask, Fan Rotom, and Vanilluxe more frequently in Max Raid Battles from August 6th, 2021 until August 8th, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

Summertime in Galar brings cool Pokémon to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield’s Pokémon Dens, including Shiny Vanilluxe.

Things are heating up as summer arrives in the Galar region. Until August 8, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, Seaking, Pinsir, Heracross, Ninjask, Fan Rotom, and Vanilluxe will appear more frequently in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield's Max Raid Battles. Very rarely, a Shiny Vanilluxe may also appear. Get ready to take part is some heated battles!

For an opportunity to encounter these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you'll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet through Y-Comm or by selecting Mystery Gift in the X menu, then selecting Get the Wild Area News. After that, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den, you can walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. This event does not affect the Pokémon encountered within Dynamax Adventures.

Trainers, We’ve received reports that every Legendary Pokémon discovered in Pokémon GO so far will be appearing in five-star raids during Pokémon GO Fest 2021! Strange, right? This sort of thing hasn’t happened in the world of Pokémon GO before, so we’re just as puzzled as you are. Hopefully we’ll get some answers during the event as to why this is happening. Please note that it might be challenging to battle and catch every Legendary Pokémon in the allotted time frame, so plan accordingly!

Date + Time
Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time

  • Legendary Pokémon will be appearing globally in five-star raids! Each Pokémon will be appearing during one of four themed hours that will be on a rotation throughout the event.
    • During Wind Hour, occurring from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Latias, Latios, Regigigas, Altered Forme Giratina, Cresselia, and Therian Forme Tornadus will be appearing in five-star raids.
    • During Lava Hour, occurring from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time, Moltres, Entei, Regirock, Groudon, Heatran, Reshiram, Therian Forme Landorus, and Yveltal will be appearing in five-star raids.
    • During Frost Hour, occurring from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Articuno, Suicune, Lugia, Regice, Kyogre, Palkia, and Kyurem will be appearing in five-star raids. Plus, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf will be appearing in five-star raids in the regions that they normally appear in!
    • During Thunder Hour, occurring from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, Zapdos, Raikou, Registeel, Rayquaza, Dialga, Therian Forme Thundurus, Zekrom, and Xerneas will be appearing in five-star raids.
    • Mythical Pokémon will not be appearing in five-star raids.

While all Trainers will be able to participate in this raid extravaganza regardless of whether they have a Pokémon GO Fest 2021 ticket, ticket holders will enjoy the following benefits.
  • Earn an extra 10,000 XP for winning a Raid Battle.
  • Spin Gym Photo Discs to earn up to 10 Raid Passes. These can be used for in-person raids.
  • Complete Timed Research to earn up to eight Remote Raid Passes. These can be used to join a raid remotely.
  • Pick up an event bundle containing three Remote Raid Passes! The bundle will be available in the shop on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.

Be on the lookout for a torrent of Pokémon appearing in Pokémon Dens, including Venusaur, Politoed, Croagunk, and Seismitoad. Lucky Trainers may even come across a Gigantamax Venusaur or a Shiny Politoed.

For an opportunity to encounter these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you'll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet through Y-Comm or by selecting Mystery Gift in the X menu, then selecting Get the Wild Area News. Until May 2, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, Meowth, Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, and Gigantamax Meowth will appear in Max Raid Battles—if you're lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Galarian Meowth during the event.

Through April 25, the Penguin Pokémon Eiscue will be appearing more frequently in Max Raid Battles.

World Penguin Day is April 25, and there's no better way to celebrate the adorable flightless bird in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield than with Max Raid battles featuring Eiscue, the Penguin Pokémon! Eiscue will be appearing more frequently in Max Raid Battles through April 25 at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Lucky Trainers might even encounter a Shiny one, which has a pastel pink ice cube on its head.

To encounter Eiscue in Max Raid Battles, you'll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet. Then, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den in the Wild Area or elsewhere, walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. This event does not affect the Pokémon encountered within Dynamax Adventures.

Hop into action against Azumarill, Lopunny, Diggersby, and Gigantamax Cinderace through April 4, 2021.

Celebrate one of the season's cutest harbingers with a bunny-themed event in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Through April 4, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, Trainers can expect an increased chance of encountering Azumarill, Lopunny, and Diggersby in Max Raid Battles. Truly lucky Trainers might even encounter a Shiny Azumarill burrowed in a Pokémon Den.

Throughout the event, Gigantamax Cinderace will be making a rare appearance in five-star Max Raid Battles. Trainers won't be able to catch the Striker Pokémon, but defeating it will reward Trainers with lots of useful Candy. Strike fast, because Gigantamax Cinderace encounters are only available in Max Raid Battles through April 4, 2021.

To encounter these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you'll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet. Then, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den in the Wild Area or elsewhere, you can walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. Features
  • Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be appearing in five-star raids! If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Articuno, Shiny Zapdos, or Shiny Moltres!
  • We’re hearing reports that Giovanni will be returning with a different Shadow Legendary Pokémon in his clutches. Get ready to complete some new Team GO Rocket Special Research to save this Pokémon, Trainers!
  • Pick up a bundle of three Remote Raid Passes in the shop starting on Saturday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time to Monday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
  • Earn up to five free Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms during event hours.
  • During the event period, you can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
  • Team GO Rocket Grunts will be appearing more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons throughout the event window.
