Ash Ketchum encountered some Team Yell grunts while on route to his match against Marie for their Hyper Class Battle. However, in an attempt at making Marnie win a walkover victory, Team Yell feeds him misinformation regarding the venue of the match and sends him to Spiketown, where he encounters Marie's older brother and Spike Town's Gym Leader, Piers. Piers drives Ash Ketchum to the real venue on his motorcycle and Marnie got mad at them for making Ash get the wrong venue.
