Shayne is an acquaintance of Friede. He works to protect wild Pokémon and on a trip to the Paldea region, he got an Bramblin but it blew away in a strong wind and he couldn't go look for it as he had to do his work.

Friede took up the job and encountered the Pokémon Hunters Shayne warned about. They had captured his Bramblin. During the battle with the hunters, Bramblin evolved into Brambleghast and became strong enough to break out of the cage. It was returned to Shayne for the reward money.
