TV Tokyo has just announced a massive giveaway contest, where 7777 "Channel 7 Pikachu Remotes" will be given out. The remote features a yellow Pikachu motif, complete with a Pocket Monsters Best Wishes logo, and has an extra large button for switching to channel 7, TV Tokyo's digital channel number, where Pocket Monsters Best Wishes airs every Thursday at 7PM.

The contest will last from September 29th to October 20th, at which point entrants can enter at http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/7ch_remocon/

I wonder if this thing is a universal remote? Seems like a good promotion to get viewers interested in Best Wishes. Remotes don't cost very much these days.

Should be, that's the standard for these gimmick giveaway remotes. There's no point in getting a gift you can't use.
