In a Tweet from his @shotakageyama account on January 1st, 2014, Shota Kageyama (景山将太) announced that he has left GAME FREAK and has become an independent artist. Shota Kageyama is best known for his work composing tracks for the games: Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

The Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Super Music Collection has been released on iTunes and it featuring 90 tracks and over 2 hours of recorded music from the classic games. The collection can be purchased for $11.99USD while individual tracks can be purchased for $0.99 cents. The CD soundtrack was first released in Japan 9 years ago but this is the first time its been made available for purchase outside of Japan.

Fans can expect more to come in 2014 from the Pokémon musical archives, including the soundtracks of:
· Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver
· Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire
· Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl
· Pokémon Black and Pokémon White
· Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2

Sony Music updated their website on November 1st, 2013 and announced that three new Yusuke (遊助) CD albums will be released in Japan on December 4th, 2013. All three albums contain the first opening theme for Pocket Monsters XY anime entitled Volt (ボルト). Details and track listing have been added to our CD database.

The official English Pokémon website announced today in their post about the X and Y soundtrack that "More Pokémon video game soundtracks are on the way in 2014." Many of the game soundtracks are already available on CD in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS Pokémon X & Y Super Music Collection is now available for purchase on iTunes for $9.99 or $0.99 per track. Details of the Japanese CD release has been added to our database.

During the airing of Pocket Monsters XY 1 and 2, two commercials revealed that the TV size versions of Yusuke's (遊助) opening theme Volt (ボルト) and J☆Dee'Z ending theme The X Strait and the Y Scenery (X海峡Y景色) will both be released in Japan in Chaku-Uta ringtone format on October 30th, 2013. In addition, it was mentioned during the recent Nico Farre event that Volt would be released on CD in late 2013. Full details on this CD and any CD release of The X Strait and the Y Scenery are currently not available but our CD database will be updated as soon as information is available.

The official Japanese Pokémon website as well as their official Twitter account have announced the voice actors for the upcoming OVA special Pocket Monsters THE ORIGIN (ポケットモンスター THE ORIGIN). Junko Takeuchi (竹内順子) who is best know for her voice acting role as Naruto Uzumaki will voice Red. Katsuji Mori (森功至) will play the role of Professor Okido. Takuya Eguchi (江口拓也) will voice Green while Tomokazu Sugita (杉田智和) will be the voice of Takeshi.

It was also revealed that 5 background music tracks from Pocket Monsters Red and Green have been newly arranged by Pocket Monsters X and Y Sound Director Shota Kageyama (景山将太) for the Pocket Monsters THE ORIGIN OVA. The tracks will be included on the Nintendo 3DS Pokémon X & Y Super Music Collection (ニンテンドー3DS ポケモン X・Y スーパーミュージックコレクション) CD set which goes on sale November 13th, 2013. The original background music tracks will also be included.

The opening ceremonies for the 2013 Pokémon World Championships took place on Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In attendance was Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda who revealed that the X and Y Soundtrack will be released in November of 2013. The X and Y Soundtrack will be 220 track and will be available on iTunes. He also announced another new Mega Evolution, Mega Kangaskhan.

The most recent episode of the JFN radio show Ikimono-gakari's garden party (いきものがかりのgarden★party) mentioned that a special Eievui that knows the move Sing will be released to tie into Ikimono-gakari's vocalist Kiyoe Yoshioka's role in the upcoming movie short Pikachu and its Eievui Friends. Further details on the Pokémon and the distribution will be revealed via the official site at a later date.

Official Site Update - June 15th, 2013

The official Japanese website has updated and announced the full details of this event. To celebrate the debut of the 16th movie in theaters on July 13th, 2013, a special event will be held at LaLaport TOYOSU. Shoko Nakagawa will be in attendance as will Ikimono-gakari (いきものがかり) who will perform the song Egao (笑顔). Those that wish to attend the event must sign-up for the lottery on the official movie website. Spaces are limited and will be chosen via lottery. The Eevee will be distributed to those that attend the event.

For those that cannot attend the July 13th event, those that purchase the Egao (Limited Edition) CD which goes on sale July 10th, 2013 will receive a voucher that can be exchanged at participating Toys 'R US locations and Pokémon Centers for the Sing Eevee. The promotion will be from July 14th, 2013 until September 1st, 2013.

The official Pokémon movie site has revealed that the theme song fr the upcoming movie "Extremespeed Genesect: The Awakening of Mewtwo" will be 笑顔 (Egao, Smile) by Japanese pop rock band Ikimono-gakari. A clip from the song will be heard in the movie trailer to be released April 18th.

The single will be released July 16th, and will come with a special Pokémon Tretta. More details to follow.

Media Factory and Shogakukan have revealed that the 15th movie Kyurem VS the Sacred Swordsman Keldeo (キュレムVS聖剣士 ケルディオ) as well as the 15th short Meloetta's Sparkling Recital (メロエッタのキラキラリサイタル) will be released on DVD and Bluray on December 19th, 2012. Both the DVD and Bluray are 2 disc sets and include the movie on disc 1 and the short on disc 2.

The Bluray set has the catalog number SSXX-1 and will retail for 5,229yen while the DVD set has the catalog number SSBX-2550 and will retail for 4,179yen. Both sets have been added to our DVD/Bluray database. Cover artwork will be added when it becomes available.

Pokémon TV Anime Theme Songs BEST OF BEST 1997-2012

Also announced was the Pokémon TV Anime Theme Songs BEST OF BEST 1997-2012 (ポケモンTVアニメ主題歌 BEST OF BEST 1997-2012) CD set. The 3 disc set is a collection of the best theme songs from past 15 years of Pocket Monsters. It includes a special deluxe 50 page booklet in addition to the 42 tracks on the CD's which includes a few bonus tracks. The CD has been added to our CD database. The finalized track list will be added when it becomes available.
