Niantic has announced major changes to Pokémon GO’s Remote Raids which will go into effect on April 6th, 2023. This anti-player change drastically increases the price of remote raid passes from 100 coins to 195 coins each and limits the number of remote raids that a player can join each day to 5.

Updates to Pokémon GO’s Remote Raids

We want to give you a heads-up about changes coming to Pokémon GO’s Remote Raid Passes. These changes are designed to rebalance the game and ensure it’s enjoyed by Trainers for years to come. The changes will go into effect on April 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. PDT (GMT -7).

Pricing adjustments:

• The price of the Remote Raid Pass three-pack will increase to 525 PokéCoins.
• The price of single Remote Raid Passes will increase to 195 PokéCoins.
• A Premium Battle Pass three-pack will be added to the shop for the price of 250 PokéCoins.

Remote Raid participation limits:

• Trainers will be able to participate in a maximum of five Remote Raids per day.
• This maximum may change and increase for special events.

Remote Raid Passes:

• Remote Raid Passes will be included in the pool of potential rewards for Research Breakthroughs.
• Remote Raid Passes earned via Research Breakthroughs will still be subject to the existing inventory limit of three Remote Raid Passes per Trainer.
• If a Trainer earns a Remote Raid Pass from a Research Breakthrough while at the three Remote Raid Pass limit, they will receive a Premium Battle Pass instead.

Purchases of Remote Raid Pass 3-Packs will still allow you to hold up to 5 Remote Raid Passes if you purchase it with 2 Remote Passes already in your inventory.

Candy XL:

• Trainers who participate in five-star raids in person will earn more Candy XL than before.

Since their introduction in 2020, Remote Raid Passes have come to dominate the experience of playing Pokémon GO in a way we never intended. Niantic has announced that the Pokémon GO March 2023 Community Day takes place on Saturday, March 18th, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time and features the Dopey Pokémon Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke.

PLAYER WARNING:

Niantic has restricted Four-star Raid Battles to Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes only. Players cannot access Four-star Raid Battles featuring Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke with Remote Raid Passes. If there are dangerous storms, health restrictions or other reasons that would endanger you during the time period for this event in your area, please do not force yourself to venture out to participate in this event. Damage to devices may also occur in extreme heat and cold weather conditions.

March 2023 Community Day: Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke

We’re excited to announce that Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke, the Dopey Pokémon, will be featured during March Community Day!

Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Galarian Slowpoke—if you’re lucky!

Featured Pokémon

Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke will appear more frequently in the wild.

Featured attack

Evolve Slowpoke or Galarian Slowpoke during the event or up to five hours afterward to get a Slowbro, Galarian Slowbro, Slowking, or Galarian Slowking that knows the Charged Attack Surf.

Community Day Special Research story – Field Notes: Slow and Slower

• Don’t forget: you’re now able to purchase and gift tickets to any of your friends that you’ve achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with.* To gift a ticket, tap the Special Research ticket in the in-game shop, then tap the Gift button instead of the Buy button.

Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.

Event Bonuses

: 3× XP for catching Pokémon.
: 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
: 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive XL Candy from catching Pokemon.
: Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
: Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
: Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
: One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day.*
: Trades made will require 50% less Stardust.*

*While most bonuses are only active during the three hours of the event, these bonuses will be active from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time.

A brain-teasing Evolution

Before Trainers can evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro, they usually need to catch 30 Poison-type Pokémon while adventuring with Galarian Slowpoke as their buddy. But on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, Trainers will instead need to catch 30 Psychic types while adventuring with Galarian Slowpoke! Keep an eye on the clock—this brain-bending change won’t last past 10:00 p.m.

Bonus Raid Battles after Community Day

Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time

After the three-hour Community Day event ends, Trainers will be able to take on special four-star Raid Battles. Claiming victory in one of these raids will cause more Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke to appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes!

Four-star Raid Battles

Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke will appear in four-star raids! You can only join these raids using Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes. Remote Raid Passes cannot be used to join these Raid Battles.

Bonus for completing four-star Raid Battles

Once you successfully complete a four-star Raid Battle against Slowpoke or Galarian Slowpoke, additional Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke will appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes. If you’re lucky, you may encounter Shiny ones!*

*Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke that appear under these circumstances will have the same chance of appearing as a Shiny Pokémon as those that appear during March Community Day’s three-hour event period.

Timed Research

Timed Research focused on Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Complete tasks related to catching these Pokémon to earn up to four King’s Rocks.

Field Research

March Community Day–themed Field Research will be available! Catch Slowpoke to earn rewards such as King’s Rocks, Stardust, Ultra Balls, and more!

The following avatar items will be featured in the in-game shop during this event, and they will continue to be available after the event ends!
