Niantic has announced that Team GO Rocket is making Shadow Pokémon stronger in Pokémon GO as long as they remain Shadow Pokémon.

Team GO Rocket is making Shadow Pokémon stronger!

Trainers, We’ve received reports of developments regarding Shadow Pokémon. Whatever Team GO Rocket is doing seems to be making these poor Pokémon stronger as long as they remain Shadow Pokémon. Details are as follows.

  • Shadow Pokémon now deal more damage with their Fast and Charged Attacks, but they also take more damage when attacked.
  • Powering up a Shadow Pokémon and teaching a Shadow Pokémon an additional Charged Attack now cost less Stardust and Candy.
  • Legendary Shadow Pokémon that you save from Giovanni are now more powerful.
During certain time periods, Shadow Pokémon might be able to forget the Charged Attack Frustration by learning a different Charged Attack with a Charged TM, though we haven’t figured out when that’ll be possible. Please stay tuned for more details. Despite our efforts, Team GO Rocket is growing stronger and acquiring even more resources. We’re not sure how they’re doing this, but please know that we’re investigating how to fight back against these ruffians. Let’s stay strong, Trainers!

A Team GO Rocket global take-over is imminent!
Odd things are afoot, Trainers. The professor and team leaders have been following Team GO Rocket’s movements and noticed that they’re planning something big. We don’t know all Team GO Rocket’s plans yet, but we do have the following details to share.

  • From Friday, March 6, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time
  • Poison- and Dark-type Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild, as well as other Pokémon that are related to Team GO Rocket.
  • We have reports that Absol is one of the Pokémon that will be appearing in the wild!
  • Regardless of how you come across it, any Skorupi you find could be Shiny—if you’re lucky!
  • On Saturday, March 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time
    • We have word that another Team GO Rocket global take-over will happen! Team GO Rocket Grunts will be making a push to seize even more PokéStops. Sierra, Cliff, Arlo, and even Giovanni himself will also be more active, so you might run into them more easily if you keep your Rocket Radar or Super Rocket Radar equipped.
  • We’ve noticed that Shadow Pokémon rescued from the Team GO Rocket Leaders have had a chance of being Shiny. While the Team GO Rocket Leaders have switched up their teams since they first appeared, during this take-over, you’ll be able to rescue all six of the Shadow Pokémon that Trainers have seen left behind by the Team GO Rocket Leaders.
  • During the take-over, you’ll be able to use a Charged TM to change a Shadow Pokémon’s exclusive attack, Frustration, to other Charged Attacks that that Pokémon can learn normally. Please note that if you purify the Shadow Pokémon afterward, it will still learn Return, replacing the attack learned via the Charged TM.
  • Defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders will earn you twice the usual Stardust.
  • Turn on your in-game music—the Team GO Rocket music will be playing!

The Psychic Spectacular returns with new faces
We’ve used Future Sight, and one thing is for certain—the Psychic Spectacular is coming back! From Friday, March 27, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, March 30, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time, you can look forward to the following.

Features
  • More Psychic-type Pokémon first discovered in Unova will make their Pokémon GO debut! During the daytime, you’ll be able to encounter Solosis, the Cell Pokémon, in the wild, and during the evening, you’ll instead encounter Gothita, the Fixation Pokémon! Solosis and Gothita will be available after the event in the wild and in 5 km Eggs.
  • The following Psychic-type Pokémon will be hatching more often from 2 km Eggs: Abra, Drowzee, Ralts, Spoink, Baltoy, Wynaut, Beldum, Gothita, and Solosis.
  • If you’re lucky, you might find a Shiny Baltoy!
  • Psychic-type Pokémon will be featured in raids, and you’ll see them more often in the wild.
  • Enjoy Psychic Spectacular Field Research throughout the event period.

Updates to Pokémon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour
Thank you, Trainers, for all your feedback on these experimental events! For the month of March, we are happy to report that we’ll continue testing these new ideas, but we wanted to provide some information in advance so you can prepare for these hour-long minievents that are meant to complement your gameplay.

The Pokémon Company announced that they are teaming up with Daniel Arsham, an American artist to create sculptures of Iconic Pokémon. Additional details about the collaboration will be announced later this spring.

POKÉMON AND DANIEL ARSHAM TEAM UP FOR ART COLLABORATION

Daniel Arsham × Pokémon Project To Feature Sculptures of Iconic Pokémon

TOKYO – February 28, 2020 – The Pokémon Company has unveiled the Daniel Arsham × Pokémon project with American artist, Daniel Arsham, featuring icons of the Pokemon franchise presented within the artist’s creative concept of “fictional archeology.” Through his work, people are invited to imagine the unearthing of Pokémon a thousand years from now and experience the passage of time. On the surface, Daniel Arsham’s Pokémon sculptures may look weathered, but closer examination of the excavated future of Pokémon exposes a crystallized brilliance.

"The fictional archaeology is really an idea of taking all of the objects from our present day and imagining as if we were an archeologist in the future and looking at these objects from our everyday life or our everyday experience,” said Daniel Arsham. “I think there’s something kind of prolific and impactful about trying to step outside of our own time frame. It gives us a perspective of our own experiences and lives. Through these works, I hope to be able to shift people’s understanding about time in general. "

“Pokémon evolved as a brand by embracing new technologies and collaborating with partners from new fields ranging from data communication systems and geolocation-related technologies to partners in fashion and art,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokémon Company. “I’m delighted to welcome Daniel Arsham as our collaboration partner. Through his work, my wish is for people around the world to ‘dig deep’ into their imaginations and think about what Pokémon would look like in a thousand years.” Additional details about the collaboration will be announced later this spring.

About Daniel Arsham Daniel Arsham (born 1980 in Ohio) is an American artist. Daniel Arsham straddles the line between art, architecture, and performance. Raised in Miami, Arsham attended the the Cooper Union in New York City. Arsham’s work has been shown at MOMA PS1, The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Athens Bienniale, The New Museum, Mills College Art Museum, Carré d'Art - musée d'art contemporain de Nîmes, How Art Museum.

In celebration of Pokémon Day today, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced that a new Mythical Pokémon has been discovered in the world of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games—Zarude, the Rogue Monkey Pokémon. High resolution artwork and screenshots from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.

NEW MYTHICAL POKÉMON DISCOVERED

Dynamax Mewtwo’s Appearance in Max Raid Battles Also Announced

Zarude is a Dark- and Grass-type Pokémon that can grow vines from the back of its neck, its wrists, and the soles of its feet at will. The vines are strong and flexible and are useful for many different situations. They can be used to wrap around tree branches to move around and grab Berries from distant branches, and they even have healing properties.

Name: Zarude
Category: Rogue Monkey Pokémon
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 154.3 lb.
Type: Dark/Grass

This Mythical Pokémon lives in a pack deep in the dense forests of Galar. It treats anyone that isn’t part of its pack with immediate hostility. When fighting, Zarude swings around from tree branches, attacking relentlessly with its sharp claws. Its quick wit helps it excel in battles. Zarude is only available in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and can’t be encountered in regular gameplay. Launched in November 2019, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are the latest titles in the core Pokémon video game series and are available on Nintendo Switch™ systems.

It was also announced that from Wednesday, February 26, at 4:00 p.m. PST until Sunday, March 1, at 3:59 p.m. PST, Dynamax Mewtwo may appear in Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. While this Mewtwo is incredibly powerful and can’t be caught, Trainers will have a chance to receive rare items like Ability Capsules if they defeat Mewtwo. During the same time period, Trainers can also encounter Dynamax Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Squirtle, and Wartortle in Max Raid Battles. Unlike Mewtwo, Trainers will have a chance to catch these Pokémon if they manage to defeat them.

Pokémon GO Valentine’s Day Celebration 2020

Trainers, Love is in the air! Our annual Valentine’s Day event is back. From Friday, February 14, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, February 17, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. in your local time zone, pink Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild, in raids, in Eggs, and as Field Research encounters.

Audino, the Hearing Pokémon, and Alomomola, the Caring Pokémon, will be making their Pokémon GO debut! They’ll be appearing in the wild and hatching from 7 km Eggs. Regular Lure Modules activated during the event will last six hours, and you’ll receive a 2× Catch Candy bonus. Tickets will be first come, first served. General admission tickets will be £12, and early access tickets will be £18. Early access ticket holders will be able to access event gameplay early and receive two additional hours of gameplay. Along with the general admission and early access tickets, we will also be offering an additional experience: the City Explorer Pass.

We’re excited to test out the City Explorer Pass, which will be available for purchase alongside Safari Zone tickets for those who want to get up and GO for the full event weekend—even outside the Safari Zone event area! The City Explorer Pass will be £8 and will be available for purchase only along with a Safari Zone ticket. It cannot be purchased after a ticket order is complete and is not eligible for refunds or transfers.

With the City Explorer Pass, you’ll be able to take part in City Explorer Raids, hatch Eggs faster throughout Liverpool, and access other exclusive bonuses for the full event weekend. City Explorers will enjoy the following benefits.

  • 10 City Explorer Raids on a 72-hour timer at iconic city locations that will be chosen in partnership with the City of Liverpool. These raids will be accessible only by City Explorers.

  • Exclusive Field Research tasks will be granted by PokéStops throughout the city.
  • Regular Lure Modules will last four hours if placed by City Explorers within the city. All Trainers will benefit from those four-hour Lure Modules, not just City Explorers.

In a joint statement released today by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, they announced that an employee for the Portuguese website FNintendo was responsible for posting information and pictures of Pokémon Sword and Shield to the Internet before its release date.

Joint statement from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company

In early November, Nintendo identified a number of photographs taken from game play that revealed multiple new and unannounced Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. These photographs had been posted online and Nintendo, together with The Pokémon Company, quickly identified the person responsible for these leaks, and took immediate action. FNintendo also posted a statement regarding this issue.

These Pokémon were leaked by a reviewer for the Portuguese website FNintendo, who had received an early copy of the game for review purposes. Both he and FNintendo failed to handle confidential material, resulting in a clear breach of the confidentiality agreement between Nintendo and the media outlet. As a result, Nintendo will no longer work with FNintendo.

Nintendo will always protect its intellectual property and brands. Leaks hurt not just Nintendo, but the thousands of employees who work hard to bring games to market, and the millions of fans around the world who look forward to news and surprises.

To surprise and delight players through new experiences is a shared passion for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. We will pursue all avenues to preserve surprises for players of future Pokémon titles.

FNintendo's statement

To our readers,

At the beginning of November, a series of off-screen photographs leaked multiple new and unannounced Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. We want to take this opportunity to openly admit to our readers that FNintendo was responsible for leaking some of these photos.

Nintendo offered us a copy of the game for review purposes, with clear embargo guidelines, to which we agreed. This copy was then sent to one of our reviewers, who leaked the information. Following the investigation, FNintendo severed its relationship with this reviewer.

Our relationship with Nintendo Portugal dates back 11 years, but our part in this leak is a clear breach of the confidentiality agreement between us, and, as a result, a total breach of trust with Nintendo. We recognise it is impermissible to break embargo guidelines and we failed to handle the review materials with sufficient care.

We fully respect Nintendo's decision to cancel the confidentiality agreement between our companies as a result of this breach of trust, and accept that we will no longer receive products from Nintendo, nor will we be invited to attend their events.

We want to apologise to Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, and to our readers for letting them down.
