In the summer of 2021, as the first phase of a collaboration project between the Pokémon Card Game and the Pokémon GO game will be the release the Professor Willow card, the Pokémon Professor from Pokémon GO. The card will be available in all Pokémon Card Game sales regions worldwide.

Professor Willow is hard at work on his research with binoculars in hand, and his partner, the Mythical Pokémon Meltan, who is on his shoulder.


This Professor Willow card appears as Professor Willow's Research, a card so essential that it must be included in every deck in Pokémon Card Game match today. It's a Trainer's card with a powerful effect that allows you to draw seven cards from the deck, giving you an instant advantage.

In addition, there is a special promotion code written on the card that is not found on regular Pokémon cards, which allows you to experience a Special Research in Pokémon GO.

How to Enter the Promotion Code and Notes

The Promotion Code written on Professor Willow's card must be entered and the Special Research must be received by Monday, July 31st, 2023. Please note that you will not be able to receive the Special Research after the expiration date. Please note that you can only receive the Special Research once per code. Also, only one code can be used per Pokémon GO account. Depending on your smartphone or Pokémon GO account, the method of entering the promotion code may differ.

Japan - How to get the card

Professor Willow cards can be obtained in each region of the world where the Pokémon Card Game is sold. Please note that additional ways to obtain cards other than those listed may be added or changed in the future.

The Pokémon GO 5th Anniversary Collaboration Campaign will be held on July 9th, 2021, with a special offer of a Professor Willow card for purchases of 800 yen (including tax) or more of Pokémon Card Game products at participating stores. The campaign will start on Friday, July 9th, 2021 and will end as soon as all the cards are gone.

The card will also be distributed at Akindo Sushiro and at Odakyu Electric Railway stations when you spend 1,300 yen or more, starting on July 9th, 2021.

The official Japanese Pokémon Card Game website has announced a new type of V card called V-UNION which takes 4 different V-UNION cards to create a powerful Pokémon card.

V-UNION

A Pokémon V-UNION is a powerful Pokémon V, played in sets of four! It is neither a Basic Pokémon nor an Evolved Pokémon and you cannot play it from your hand, but you can combine four different Pokémon V-UNION cards with the same name from your discard and play them as one Pokémon on the Bench!


A Pokémon V-UNION with the same name can only be played once during a match, but a Pokémon V-UNION with a different name can be played even if another Pokémon V-UNION is already on the field.

Pokémon V-UNIONs have high HP and four powerful Moves, and when they get knocked out, the opponent gets three prize cards.

Special Card Set Mewtwo V-UNION, Special Card Set Greninja V-UNION, and Special Card Set Zacian V-UNION each contain one promo card set, one card for each of the four types of V-UNION.

Mewtwo V-UNION

Mewtwo V-UNION has the Photon Barrier ability, which makes it immune to all effects of attacks used by your opponent's Pokémon. With Final Psyburn, a move that deals 300 damage, and Psyplosion, a move that allows you to put 16 damage counters on your opponent's Pokémon any way you want, you can effectively knock out your opponent's Pokémon. It can also accelerate its Energy collection with the Union Gain move and recover 200 HP with the Super Recovery move.


The Special Card Set Mewtwo V-UNION includes four different Mewtwo V-UNION cards, which are all required to put Mewtwo V-UNION (Pokémon) on the Bench.

Greninja V-UNION

Greninja V-UNION has a move called Waterspout Shuriken that deals 100 damage to all of your opponent's Bench Pokémon, and a move called Waterfall Bind that deals 180 damage and makes your opponent unable to escape, allowing you to fight while interfering with your opponent's strategy! Union Gain, is a move that accelerates Energy collection, and Aqua Edge, a move that deals 130 damage with a single Water Energy, are also useful moves depending on the situation. It also has three Abilities. It can see its opponent's hand with its Probing Ability, it is immune to the effects of Items that its opponent uses from its hand with its Ninja Body Ability, and it cannot become Poisoned with its Antidote Jutsu Ability.


The Special Card Set Greninja V-UNION includes four different Greninja V-UNION cards, which are all required to put Greninja V-UNION (Pokémon) on the Bench.

Zacian V-UNION

Zacian V-UNION has a very powerful move, Master Blade, which can deal 340 damage in exchange for discarding three attached Energy cards! Zacian V-UNION also has the Steel Slash move, which deals 200 damage with 3 Energy, and the Royal Blade Dance move, which deals 150 damage and reduces the damage of its opponent's next move by -150, allowing it to use these powerful moves in different ways depending on the situation. It can also accelerate its Energy collection with it Union Gain move.


The Special Card Set Zacian V-UNION includes four different Zacian V-UNION cards, which are required to put Zacian V-UNION (Pokémon) on the Bench.

Professor Burnet

Special Card Set Mewtwo V-UNION, Special Card Set Greninja V-UNION, and Special Card Set Zacian V-UNION all contain one promo card, Professor Burnet, and three packs each of the expansion sets Skyscraping Perfect and Blue Sky Stream.


Professor Burnet can choose up to two cards of your choice from your deck and discard them. It can be used to make it easier to line up Pokémon V-UNIONs in the discard pile, or in other decks that actively use the discard pile.

How it will be sold at Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores, and Pokémon Center Online will be announced later on the Trainer's Website, Pokémon Center Online, and Staff Voice.
