New Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield Evolving Skies Expansion Brings Together Eevee Evolutions and Showcases Dragon-Type Pokémon

Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies includes Eevee and all of its Evolutions in the same expansion, and each Evolution of Eevee will appear as a Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX. Some Eevee Evolutions will also have Battle Styles, such as Single Strike Flareon VMAX, Rapid Strike Vaporeon VMAX, Rapid Strike Sylveon VMAX and Single Strike Umbreon VMAX.

In addition, Dragon-type Pokémon including Rayquaza VMAX and Duraludon VMAX will make their first appearance in the Sword & Shield Series of the Pokémon TCG. Dragon-type Pokémon have strong attacks but require multiple types of Energy, which will lead to even more engaging and strategic gameplay.


Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies will be available in booster packs, special collections and two versions of the Elite Trainer Box, with one featuring Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon, and Leafeon and the other featuring Sylveon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, and Espeon.


The full expansion includes the following cards:

• Over 200 cards
• 15 Pokémon VMAX
• 18 Pokémon V and 33 full-art Pokémon V
• 24 Trainer cards and five full-art Supporter cards
• A new Special Energy card
• Dragon-type Pokémon return with a new look
• More new Single Strike and Rapid Strike cards

Trainers interested in playing with the expansion before launch can do so with the Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies Build & Battle Box, available through their local participating Pokémon TCG retailer starting August 14, 2021. Each box contains four Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies booster packs; a 23-card Evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets, including one of four alternate-art promo cards; and a deckbuilding tip sheet.

The official Japanese Pokémon Card Game website has announced a special Solving Riddles PokéCard Campaign (ナゾトキポケカキャンペーン) will take place via Twitter and an official Pokémon Card Game subsite from May 28th, 2021 until June 17th, 2021. The contest prize only ships to addresses in Japan.

Clear all the riddles on the special Solution to the Riddles PokéCard website, which features cards from the enhanced expansion pack Eievui Heroes, then follow the Pokémon Official Twitter account (@Pokemon_cojp), and post on Twitter the riddle clear screen for a chance to win 1 of 100 Solution to the Riddles PokéCard Flip Deck Cases! The lottery application period is from May 28th, 2021 until June 17th, 2021. Winners will be selected by a strict drawing after the application deadline and prizes will be shipped only within Japan.

Target and and some Walmart locations have announced that they will stop selling Trading Cards at their physical locations in the United States due to issues with their sales. Pokémon Trading Card have become very popular again in the past few months causing people to steal the cards to sell them at scalped prices.

Target's Official Statement:

"The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we've decided to temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA and Pokémon trading cards within our stores, effective May 14. Guests can continue to shop these cards online at Target.com."
