A festival of floral art that brings color to Tokyo in the spring. The opening ceremony kicks off on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at the Aura Hall in the Keio Seiseki-Sakuragaoka Shopping Center!

The Hanae Cultural Association will host the Tokyo Infiorata 2026 at five venues across Tokyo from Saturday, March 21st, 2026 to Monday, May 18th, 2026. The event aims to create a new landscapes by transforming Tokyo into the Capital of Flower Art and to foster a world-class culture that inspires people from all walks of life.

Infiorata is the art of creating pictures on the ground using flower petals and natural materials, is an ephemeral art form that originated in Italy. It is enjoyed around the world as a participatory cultural activity in which people come together to create works of art. In Japan, the movement began in Tokyo in 2001, and in 2026, it will mark the 25th anniversary of Japan’s flower art culture.

This year’s theme is "Connecting Through Flowers: A Vision of the Future". By creating floral art in urban spaces, we aim to launch a new cultural landscape throughout Tokyo that connects people with one another, people with the city, and people with nature. With the participation of a diverse range of stakeholders—including businesses, local communities, educational institutions, and citizens, we will expand these floral landscapes across Tokyo as a collaborative cultural initiative centered on flowers.

In addition, some of the flowers used in the event are not discarded but recycled into Flower Drawing Paper, a type of recycled paper. This drawing paper is donated to Tokyo Metropolitan Special Needs Schools and other institutions, where it is used in art education activities for children. The children’s drawings are featured as floral artworks the following year, contributing to Flower Linkage, a cultural cycle that begins with flowers.

Furthermore, as part of a special project commemorating the 25th anniversary of Japan’s flower art culture and the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2026 will feature a special Pokémon flower art display in the style of ukiyo-e. By combining the expressive artistry of ukiyo-e—a traditional Japanese art form with Pokémon, a globally popular franchise, this new flower art exhibition will showcase the appeal of Japanese culture to audiences both in Japan and abroad.

A Special Pokémon Floral Display using Ukiyo-e style to Celebrate Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary

At TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2026, a special Pokémon floral display in ukiyo-e style will be unveiled to commemorate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. This display showcases a new form of floral art that blends Japanese culture with a globally beloved character. Additionally, on the evening of the opening day, a performance by Kabuki actor Hashigo Nakamura will take place at the venue.

春の東京を彩る花絵の祭典。オープニングは3月21日（土）、京王聖蹟桜ヶ丘ショッピングセンター「アウラホール」からスタート！

一般社団法人花絵文化協会は、“東京を花絵の都”として新たな景色を創出し、様々な人々と感動を共有できる世界に誇れる文化を育てることを目的に、「東京インフィオラータ2026」を都内5会場で2026年3月21日（土）から5月18日（月）まで開催します。

花びらや自然素材を使って地面に絵を描く「インフィオラータ」は、イタリア発祥のエフェメラルアート（儚い芸術）で、人々が共に作品を作り上げる市民参加型の文化として世界各地で親しまれています。日本では2001年に東京で活動が始まり、2026年に日本の花絵文化25周年という節目を迎えます。

今年のテーマは 「花でつながる、未来の景色」。都市空間に花のアートを創り出すことで、人と人、人と街、人と自然がつながる新しい文化の風景を東京から発信します。企業、地域、教育機関、市民など多様な人々が参加し、花を通じた共創の文化活動として東京各地に花の景色を広げていきます。

また、イベントで使用した花の一部は廃棄せず再資源化され、再生紙「お花の画用紙」として制作されます。この画用紙は東京都立特別支援学校などに寄贈され、子どもたちのアート教育活動に活用されています。子どもたちが描いた絵は翌年の花絵作品として紹介されるなど、花から始まる文化の循環「Flower Linkage」として展開されています。

さらに「TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2026」では、日本の花絵文化25周年とポケモン30周年を記念した特別企画として、浮世絵風ポケモンスペシャル花絵が登場します。日本の伝統文化である浮世絵の表現と世界的人気キャラクターであるポケモンによる新しい花絵作品として、日本文化の魅力を国内外へ発信します。

今年のオープニング会場は、2026年に開業40周年を迎える京王聖蹟桜ヶ丘ショッピングセンターの「アウラホール」。日本の花絵文化25周年と施設の40周年という二つの節目を祝い、「花祝い」をテーマに展覧会形式で開催します。会場では、花絵師・藤川靖彦による花絵作品のほか、藤川と交流のある押し花作家・杉野宣雄氏、漫画家・画家のさかもと未明氏らとのコラボレーションによる作品展示を予定し、花をテーマにした多彩な表現が集う華やかな空間を演出します。

ファイナル会場となるお台場では、2週にわたり大規模なフラワーカーペットが登場します。前半では約100㎡の巨大な和柄フラワーカーペットを制作し、日本の伝統文様を花で表現します。後半には歌舞伎をテーマにした4作品の花絵が登場し、日本文化の魅力を華やかな花のアートとして紹介します。

なお開催初日の3月21日（土）12時より、「アウラホール」にてオープニングセレモニーを開催します。「東京インフィオラータ2026」総合監修は花絵師の藤川靖彦。

「TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2026」では、ポケモン30周年を記念し、浮世絵風ポケモンスペシャル花絵が登場。日本文化と世界的人気キャラクターによる新しい花絵表現を紹介します。また初日の夜には、同会場にて歌舞伎役者 中村橋吾による公演が行われます。
