Corocoro Online has updated with the first part of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Legend/Legend Collaboration Artwork Project. Translations follow:

The "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" Premiere Celebration Project! Part 1: Ryouji Minagawa of "ARMS" Fame Draws "A Fierce Battle! Armored Mewtwo VS Iwark!!"

Ryouji Minagawa, creator of "ARMS" and "Spriggan", put his heart and soul into this drawing!!

"Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", the full 3DCG remake of the legendary movie that served as the starting point for the Pokémon movie series, finally premieres Friday July 12th!!

To celebrate this return of the legend itself, legendary manga artists and celebrities that love Pokémon have drawn pictures based on "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution"!

And believe it or not, for this first installment, the legendary artist that has fascinated so many fans with his powerful action scenes and attention to detail in series like "Spriggan" and "ARMS", and who is currently serialized in "Monthly Shonen Sunday" with the super popular high sea action romance "Dante, Ocean King", Ryouji Minagawa, joins the project!!

Artwork theme: "A Fierce Battle! Armored Mewtwo VS Iwark!!"

Mewtwo has been fighting in a variety of places, having been equipped with armor that controls and restrains his power by the Rocket Gang's boss Sakaki.

Ryouji Minagawa has put that scene on paper with intense energy!!

Armored Mewtwo takes on the enormous Iwark, remaining completely calm. This spectacular scene makes you truly feel the sensation of Armored Mewtwo's vibrant and lively movement as Iwark towers over it while bursting out of the ground!

The super intense battle scene is now complete!!!

We also have a special comment from Minagawa, who's a huge fan of Pokémon!!

Me and Pokémon go way back. I've been addicted since Red/Green on the Game Boy, I've been diligently watching the anime ever since episode 1, and I went to see the first Pokémon movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back. That was 21 years ago!
I was surprised when I heard they were remaking Mewtwo Strikes Back in full CG, but the fact that they involved me in all this by having me draw this picture is just...
This is an incredible honor. I'm so happy I stayed a fan of Pokémon!
I drew this picture trying to imagine how Mewtwo wearing this sturdy and complex armor has changed things after these 21 years.
I'm really looking forward to this movie!
-Ryouji Minagawa

Next week we'll present a picture drawn by Machito Gomi, who won the right to write the "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Comicalization" and "Pocket Monsters: Mewtwo! I Am Here" manga for the Corocoro Comic magazines!!!

Look forward to seeing what kind of drawing we'll get!!

Lugia surfaces!!!!!!!
The true identity of the mysterious shadow we could see in the teaser... was the legendary Pokémon Lugia! It's going to appear in the new Pokémon movie!!!
Both the Pokémon that was gliding over Satoshi and the shadow on the water surface were Lugia!

Lugia, the Pokémon that has appeared many times in movies already, is back!!

Pocket Monsters the Movie: "The Explosive Birth of the Mythical Pokémon Lugia"
When it first appeared, it was under the moniker of The Mysterious Pokémon "X". It created a lot of public interest by appearing in the movie prior to its appearance in a video game.

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have announced a brand-new form of the Pokémon Lycanroc, along with information on how to obtain it in the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon video games.

In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, the Pokémon Rockruff could evolve into either Midday Form Lycanroc or Midnight Form Lycanroc. In the upcoming video games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, however, a new version of Lycanroc will be available: Dusk Form Lycanroc.

Image

Dusk Form Lycanroc
Type: Rock
Ability: Tough Claws

Dusk Form Lycanroc features characteristics of both Lycanroc Midday Form and Lycanroc Midnight Form. It stands on all fours and has behavioral traits similar to Midday Form, but when it attacks, its eyes glow red, much like Midnight Form. Dusk Form Lycanroc has a tranquil demeanor and always remains calm. This Pokémon is obedient towards a Trainer that it trusts. It has an intense fighting spirit, and as a result, prefers to do combat at close quarters.

Rockruff caught through normal gameplay cannot evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc. A unique Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc will be wirelessly distributed via Nintendo Network as a special early purchase bonus for owners of Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon. Players will be able to receive their Rockruff from the games’ launch on 17 November until 10 January 2018. More details are planned to be announced later this year.

September 2017 Corocoro

corocoro

Scans of the September 2017 issue of Corocoro which were leaked earlier this week revealed that the Rockruff Distribution will run from November 17th, 2017 through to January 10th, 2018 in Japan, the same days as in North America.

Secrets of Lycanroc Dusk Form Revealed

Find out how to get a special Rockruff that will evolve into this incredible Pokémon.

Image

We recently got our first look at the newly discovered Dusk Form Lycanroc. Now more details have been revealed, including how you can add this cool Pokémon to your Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon game.

A Unique Look and Attitude

Dusk Form Lycanroc shares some of the aspects of Midday Form, such as a four-legged stance and obedience toward its trusted Trainer. But it's also like Midnight Form—at the moment it attacks, its eyes turn red! Around its neck are four rocks like those of Midday Form, while the mane on its head matches that of Midnight Form.

Little things don't shake the tranquil demeanor of Dusk Form Lycanroc, but it has a well of intense fighting spirit hidden within, and as a result, it relishes combat at close quarters. It also tries to use Counter when battles get intense.

A New Battle Formation

The moves that Dusk Form Lycanroc can learn also seem to reflect the characteristics of both Midday and Midnight Forms. Dusk Form Lycanroc learns both Accelerock and Counter—moves favored by Midday Form and Midnight Form Lycanroc, respectively.

Accelerock is a Rock-type physical move that always goes first. In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, only Midday Form Lycanroc could learn this move. Midday Form could learn this move when it evolved from Rockruff. Counter is a Fighting-type move that inflicts double the damage received by an opponent's physical attack. In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Midnight Form Lycanroc learned this move when it evolved from Rockruff.

Dusk Form Lycanroc has the Ability Tough Claws, a different Ability than either Midday Form or Midnight Form. Tough Claws greatly increases the power of moves that make direct contact. A Dusk Form Lycanroc with this Ability would likely favor a different style of battle than Midday Form or Midnight Form.

Get Dusk Form Lycanroc!

Only special Rockruff can evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc, and neither this Rockruff nor Dusk Form Lycanroc can be caught in normal gameplay. But you can get a special gift of this Rockruff as an early purchase bonus with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. Players will be able to receive a special Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc via Nintendo Network from Friday, November 17, 2017, until Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Evolve this special Rockruff and have an adventure in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon together with your Dusk Form Lycanroc!

You'll be able to get this Rockruff only for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. Details on the ways to get this special Rockruff will be announced soon, so keep checking back for more information on it and on the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon games, launching November 17 for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family.

YouTube Teaser - CoroCoro

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced on August 1st, 2016 just after the last batch of information was released that new information about Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon would be revealed on August 11th, 2016. That information was released today and features information on Team Skull and Pokémon. High resolution images from the press release have been added to our Imageboard thread.

New Pokémon—Wishiwashi, Pyukumuku, Morelull and More Alolan Pokémon Variants—Revealed for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon!

New details about Alola region ruffians Team Skull also announced
Bellevue, Washington—August 11, 2016— The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced several new Pokémon and characters that can be found in the highly anticipated Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. These Pokémon appear in the newest Pokémon video games, launching in North America on November 18.

Team Skull

In the Alola region, a group of ruffians known as Team Skull causes a lot of trouble. They steal other people’s Pokémon, mess up the trial sites, and delight in all kinds of evil deeds.

Team Skull Boss: Guzma Team Skull Admin: Plumeria Team Skull Grunts
Thumbnail Thumbnail ThumbnailThumbnail
Guzma is the boss of Team Skull, the one who holds these ruffians together. Guzma pours on the attacks, battling without mercy. He certainly does seem strong, but he claims that he “never could become captain.” He seems to have a bone to pick with Professor Kukui, as well. Plumeria is considered the big sister of Team Skull. She’s a tough lady who keeps the members of Team Skull in line and working together, in the sort of way a strict older sister would. She seems to care for the Grunts who are below her in the pecking order, and she’s not one to let it go if anyone gives them a walloping. Both male and female Team Skull Grunts wear matching black Skull Tanks. And these uniforms aren’t even provided for them—all Grunts have to buy their own!

The newly revealed Pokémon include:

Wishiwashi Pyukumuku Morelull
ThumbnailThumbnail Thumbnail Thumbnail
Type: Water Type: Water Type: Grass/Fairy
Wishiwashi have a new Ability, Schooling, which no Pokémon has previously had. Under certain conditions, Wishiwashi will change in battle to their School Form.

· Solo Form
A single Wishiwashi is tiny and weak. Measuring just eight inches from nose to tail, Wishiwashi is very small, even for a Pokémon. Yet the people of the Alola region seem to view it as a terrifying Pokémon. When it’s in danger, Wishiwashi’s glistening eyes catch the light and shine out, sending a distress signal to its allies.

· School Form
The seemingly weak Wishiwashi is called the demon of the sea because of its ferocious School Form. When Wishiwashi receive a distress signal, they unite in a huge battle formation.
Due to their appearance and way of life, Pyukumuku are considered unappealing to tourists. Part-time work pulling Pyukumuku off the beach and chucking them back into the sea is available at tourist beaches. But no matter how far they’re thrown, Pyukumuku will always return to the same spot. Pyukumuku have a new Ability, Innards Out, which no other Pokémon has had before. When this Pokémon faints, Innards Out lets it dish out a final bit of damage to its opponent, equal to the amount of HP it had left before it received the final blow. Morelull are nocturnal Pokémon that walk around at night on their leg-like roots. They move because staying in one spot and sucking all the nutrients from the soil would cause surrounding plants to wither. With their roots, they make contact with other Morelull and communicate with one another.

Pokémon Adapted to the Alola Region

Some Pokémon have adapted to the distinctive microclimates of the Alola region and have taken on different forms than they have in other regions. These Pokémon are called regional variants. After settling in the Alola region, they live like native Pokémon. These regional variant Pokémon can have different appearances and types, and their way of living can also differ from that of the forms previously known.

Alolan Meowth Alolan Marowak Alolan Raichu
Thumbnail Thumbnail Thumbnail
Type: Dark Type: Fire/Ghost Type: Electric/Psychic
Meowth is a Pokémon that did not originally live in the Alola region. They were sent to the royal family of Alola as an offering from another region, and only a select few could have them as partners. It’s said that the Meowth that were offered to the royalty lived a life of luxury and pampering, which led them to have a selfish and prideful attitude. This caused Meowth’s form to change. The Marowak in the Alola region take bones and light both ends on fire by rubbing them against their foreheads. Then they spin the bones around! Marowak’s rarity and its fearsome appearance when it dances with its bone led the people of Alola to dub it a conjurer and regard it with fear. The Raichu in Alola have two types—Electric and Psychic—and they are able to wield psychic power. What’s more, they can gather their psychic power in their tails and then ride on them to float in the air!
