Eight new Pokémon, new gameplay features and a special Z-Move revealed for upcoming Pokémon games.
The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo showcased new information for the latest games in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, coming to Europe on 23 November and available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

The following new Pokémon have been revealed:

Decidueye	Incineroar	Primarina
Type: Grass/Ghost	Type: Fire/Dark	Type: Water/Fairy
The Arrow Quill Pokémon Decidueye is the fully evolved form of the Grass- and Flying-type first-partner Pokémon Rowlet. Decidueye attacks with astonishing speed, plucking arrow quills from its wings to send them hurtling towards its target with precise aim. This Pokémon is able to move about whilst completely masking its presence from others. Decidueye is the only Pokémon that can learn the move Spirit Shackle. This new Ghost-type move hits an opponent and makes it unable to leave the battle—it can’t flee or switch out.	The Heel Pokémon Incineroar is the fully evolved form of the Fire-type first-partner Pokémon Litten. As Incineroar’s fighting spirit increases, the flames it produces within its body burst from its navel and waistline. These flames resemble a championship belt, which it uses to unleash its moves. Incineroar is the only Pokémon able to learn the move Darkest Lariat. This new Dark-type physical attack allows Incineroar to deal damage to an enemy whilst ignoring the effects of any stat changes on that enemy.	The Soloist Pokémon Primarina is the fully evolved form of the Water-type first-partner Pokémon Popplio. As Primarina dances, it releases balloons of water and controls their movement using the sound waves from its voice. Primarina uses some of these balloons to jump on and maneuver in battle whilst others explode when touched, which can trigger chained explosions. Primarina is the only Pokémon that can learn Sparkling Aria, a new Water-type special move which heals the burns of any target it strikes.

Cosmog	Alolan Persian
Type: Psychic	Type: Dark
The Nebula Pokémon Cosmog is extremely rare, known only to a select few across Alola. Named by the Aether Foundation, Cosmog is very curious, and its gaseous body is so lightweight that it’s sent flying when the wind blows. When light falls on the Pokémon, Cosmog can absorb it and grow bigger.	Alolan Persian is highly intelligent and doesn’t like to grow attached to its Trainer, making it something of a difficult Pokémon to have as a battle partner. The round face of Alolan Persian is a symbol of the rich Alola region, and it is held to be a Pokémon of great beauty. Its exquisite coat shines with the glow of high quality and enchants both humans and Pokémon. For this reason, it is a very popular Pokémon in the Alola region.

Also unveiled were three Alola region guardian deities—Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu and Tapu Fini:

Type: Psychic/Fairy	Type: Grass/Fairy	Type: Water/Fairy
Tapu Lele is the guardian deity of Akala island. This Pokémon scatters glowing scales that have physical effects on others—providing stimulation to their bodies and healing their illnesses or injuries. Tapu Lele has the Ability Psychic Surge, an Ability that no other Pokémon has previously had. With Psychic Surge, the field will be turned into Psychic Terrain, which boosts the power of any Psychic-type moves used by Pokémon on the ground and prevents them from being hit by priority moves.	Tapu Bulu is the guardian deity of Ula’ula Island. This Pokémon has the power to manipulate vegetation and cause it to grow. It can use this power to make its wooden horns change shape and grow larger. Tapu Bulu has the Ability Grassy Surge, an Ability that no other Pokémon has previously had. With Grassy Surge, the field will be turned into Grassy Terrain, boosting the power of any Grass-type moves used by Pokémon on the ground and restoring a bit of HP to them each turn. It also halves the damage taken from the moves Earthquake, Magnitude and Bulldoze.	Tapu Fini is the guardian deity of Poni Island. This Pokémon is able to attack by manipulating water. It does not like to risk being harmed during battle, so it creates a thick fog to disorient its opponents and lead them to their own destruction. Tapu Fini has the Ability Misty Surge, an Ability that no other Pokémon has previously had. With Misty Surge, the field will be turned into Misty Terrain, halving the damage taken by Pokémon on the ground from Dragon-type moves and preventing them from being afflicted with status conditions or confusion.

All of the guardian deities can use the special Z-Move Guardian of Alola. When using this Z-Move, the Pokémon closes its shell and a huge avatar appears from the ground to attack the opposing Pokémon, dealing damage equal to 75 percent of the target’s remaining HP.

In previous adventures in the Pokémon series, the Pokémon League was always the ultimate stage for battle. The Pokémon League housed the Elite Four (four Pokémon Trainers with powerful Pokémon partners) and the Champion (who reigned as the region’s top Trainer), all awaiting challengers. In the Alola region, there is no Pokémon League yet—but it seems that there are plans to construct one at the peak of a certain mountain. After your major achievement in completing the island challenge, will the day come when you also take on the Pokémon League to become the strongest Pokémon Trainer?

Red	Blue

Somewhere in Alola, you’ll find the Battle Tree. It’s a place where Trainers who have completed their island challenge, or who are strong enough to have done so, battle one another. You can scout an opponent you’ve won against so they can partner and fight alongside you in future battles. You may even see some familiar faces, including the Trainers Red and Blue from the Kanto region!

When Nintendo, Niantic and The Pokémon Company announced that they would bring a mainstream Pokémon game to the Apple iOS and Google Android mobile phone market, there was much speculation that this was Nintendo finally caving to public pressure to finally release games on non-Nintendo manufactured systems which would reduce sales and overall profit for Nintendo. The reverse actually came true as Nintendo announced during their October 27th, 2016 Earnings Release for the Six-Month Period Ended September 2016 that the release of Pokémon GO in July helped the sales of the Nintendo 3DS and related Pokémon games.

Nintendo also announced that combined Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire sales have reached 13.18 million copies sold worldwide as of September 2016.

U.S. Nintendo 3DS Hardware Sell-Through Trends

"This graph shows Nintendo 3DS hardware sell-through trends in the U.S. compared with sell-through for the previous period. In the U.S., the previously-released Nintendo 2DS was dropped to an even more affordable price, and promotional activities aimed at children and parents were effective in increasing sales. The release of Pokémon GO on July 6th also led to a major increase in sales of the Nintendo 3DS family systems, where consumers can enjoy past titles in the Pokémon series. The trend here is higher than that for the previous period, and we are maintaining this momentum as we head into the holiday season."

U.S. Nintendo 3DS First-Party Software Sell-Through Trends

"This graph shows Nintendo 3DS first-party software in the U.S. compared with sell-through for the previous period. In the U.S., promotional activities aimed at children and parents were effective in increasing sales, and there was solid growth in sales for evergreen titles and Nintendo Selects games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The release of Pokémon GO also provided a bump in sales for the Pokémon series, and as a result, sales here have also surpassed those in the previous period."

In the European market, we again see the boost in Pokémon series titles in July, but this is supported by new titles such as Kirby: Planet Robobot, Fire Emblem Fates Birthright/Conquest, and Monster Hunter Generations, for which Nintendo provided distribution in Europe. Evergreen titles and Nintendo Selects titles also sold well. Overall software sales are vigorous, outpacing the previous period. "

Pokémon GO increased Virtual Console Sales

"Over the summer, the smart device application Pokémon GO became a major hit and a social phenomenon. This has sparked increased interest in Pokémon-related software. Previous entries in the Pokémon series playable on the Nintendo 3DS system were Pokémon X and Pokémon Y in 2013 and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire in 2014. We also released the original games in this series, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Green, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Pikachu, as downloadable Virtual Console titles in February this year. These Pokémon series titles have seen an increase in sales despite having been on the market for some time already. "

Pokémon Series Sell-Through Trends

"This graph shows the month-on-month sales of titles in the Pokémon series in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, as mentioned earlier in the presentation. As you can see, the release of Pokémon GO in July led to a major upsurge in sales, particularly for the U.S. and European markets. We can clearly see that the release of Pokémon GO has raised interest in Pokémon and contributed to a resurgence of sales for previously-released Pokémon titles."

Pokémon GO Plus
	"We launched the Pokémon GO Plus accessory on September 16th to provide a more comfortable play experience for Pokémon GO. Demand far exceeded our expectations and production has not caught up, leading to product shortages. We apologize to the consumers and distributors affected by this. The official Japanese Pokémon website announced a massive Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store event that takes place through October and November 2016. The Pokémon Center Occupation Plan (ポケモンセンター占拠計画) features the 6 major gangs: Rocket, Magma, Aqua, Ginga, Plasma and Flare from the Pokémon franchise taking over. The campaign features event Pokémon distributions, themed merchandise and cosplay events featuring all these gangs.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - Bosses' Pokémon Event Distribution

Each week, for 6 weeks from October 1st, 2016 until November 11th, 2016, one of the enemy organizations will occupy each Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store and a event Pokémon present will be distributed. The Pokémon distributed is one of occupying Sinister Organisation's Bosses' Pokémon. Each week, the enemy organization occupying the Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store changes to a different gang, so patrons need to check the schedule. Players of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are eligible to receive these

There are 6 different distribution weeks, so everyone should be able to get all 6 Boss Pokémon at their local Pokémon Center or Pokémon Store during time or visit other locations to get them ahead of time.

On October 7th, 2016, it was announced that due to popular demand, the event present distribution would be extended to November 12th and 13th, 2016 and on each of those days, all 6 Pokémon would be available at different times of the day at all the participating locations.

Staff at the Pokémon Centers from October 8th to October 10th, 2016 will be cosplaying the boss of the gang occupying that location as well as wearing T-shirts of that enemy organization. The boss cosplay by staff will not occur at Pokémon Store locations.


Those that spend at least 3000 yen during the campaign at a Pokémon Center or Store can also receive 1 of 6 different Sinister Organisation's Boss' cards. Patrons can receive one at the checkout.

Starting on October 8th, 2016, Sinister Organisation merchandise will be available to purchase at Pokémon Centers and online on the Amazon Pokémon Store. On October 15th, 2016, the merchandise will be available at physical Pokémon Store locations.

From October 1st, 2016 until November 13th, 2016, Ryo Kitamura (北村諒) will be dressing up as the different gang bosses at the Pokémon Centers.

FIRST-PARTNER POKÉMON EVOLUTIONS, A SPECIAL DEMO VERSION AND MORE ANNOUNCED FOR POKÉMON SUN AND POKÉMON MOON!

New Pokémon, gameplay features, a Special Demo Version and Mega Evolution details revealed for upcoming Pokémon games.
The Pokémon Company International showcased a bunch of new information for the latest games in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, coming to Europe on 23 November and available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

The evolved forms of the three first-partner Pokémon, Dartrix, Torracat and Brionne, were unveiled:

Type: Grass-Flying	Type: Fire	Type: Water
The Blade Quill Pokémon Dartrix evolves from Rowlet. Dartrix attacks by throwing its knife-edged feathers, and it possesses extremely sharp senses. This Pokémon can detect opponents behind it and can throw feathers to strike them without even seeing them. This Pokémon cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment it has.	The Fire Cat Pokémon Torracat evolves from Litten. This Pokémon produces flames for its attacks from a bell-like sac attached at the base of its throat. Torracat has a great love for battle and will attack relentlessly. Its mane can sense what is going on around it, even in the dark, and is able to detect the presence of hidden enemies.	The Pop Star Pokémon Brionne evolves from Popplio. Brionne can dance in perfect time with others and is always cheery and positive. A very hard worker, Brionne learns dances by imitating other members of its colony and can sometimes even learn dances from humans. As this Pokémon dances, it creates balloons and slaps them into its target, making them explode and deal damage to its opponents.

In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, communication features are gathered together in the new Festival Plaza. Players will be able to see other people playing near them, or other players that are connected to the internet to battle or trade. By talking to people and listening to their requests in Festival Plaza, players can receive Festival Coins. There are cool stores to spend Festival Coins in, such as dye houses, goody shops (where rare items are sold) and even bouncy castles for Pokémon to train in. As players gather more Festival Coins, their Festival Plaza will rank up, yielding rewards and making more activities available. Players will even gain the ability to host missions, where multiple players can work together to try to achieve certain goals.


Another new feature that was announced was Poké Pelago. In Poké Pelago, Pokémon that are stored in a PC Box can explore a variety of isles, play on athletic equipment and enjoy other fun activities. If players send many Pokémon to Poké Pelago, they can develop more facilities on the isles and also develop new kinds of isles. As these isles are developed and increase in number, they will allow players to obtain items and even raise Pokémon.


Mega Evolution is making a return as well. Pokémon that were able to Mega Evolve in previous Pokémon games will also be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. The Mega Stones for Pokémon with the capability to Mega Evolve that appear in the Alola region may be received from characters in the game or obtained from special shops.

The Pokémon Global Link will be updated for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon and will be available from the games’ launch date. The updated Pokémon Global Link site will have new features, including new online competitions, global missions and more. More information and features on the upcoming site can be found here.

The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version was also unveiled and will be available to download directly from Nintendo eShop or via the official Nintendo website starting from 18 October. The Special Demo Version introduces players to the Alola region and features Ash-Greninja, the Pokémon that appears alongside the hero Ash in the animated TV series Pokémon the Series: XYZ. Players will be able to transfer their Ash-Greninja from the Special Demo Version to their full version of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon once the game launches on 23 November.

Nintendo Japan has revealed 2 new Pokémon Nintendo 3DS themes: Enemy Organization - Rocket Gang (敵組織～ロケット団) and Enemy Organization - Ginga Gang (敵組織～ギンガ団). Each theme costs 200yen. All themes are available for purchase as of September 28th, 2016 on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop store.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon introduce players to the latest edition of the Pokémon core series. Nintendo Unveils Portable Pikmin, Super Mario Maker and a Poochy amiibo REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 1, 2016 – Nintendo unlocked a treasure trove of information for its portable Nintendo 3DS system today. In a Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo discussed more than a dozen games for the system, including a StreetPass Mii Plaza update and some Nintendo eShop exclusives that launch today. Among the highlights were a portable Super Mario Maker game launching this year, Pikmin and Yoshi’s Woolly World games launching in 2017, and a newly announced Mario Sports Superstars game for 2017. Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon: Some of the Pokémon found in the Alola Region have unique looks adapted to the region’s native environment, such as Alolan Rattata. A new element called a Z-Move is an extremely powerful skill initiated when Pokémon and Trainer unleash their full powers together. The type of Z-Move a Pokémon can use depends on the type of Z-Crystal the player gives that Pokémon. As a bonus, anyone who buys one of the games when they launch on Nov. 18 and connects a Nintendo 3DS family system to the internet before Jan. 11, 2017, will receive Munchlax in the game, along with a “Snorlium Z” crystal to unlock the special Z-Move known as Pulverizing Pancake.

Munchlax evolves into Snorlax that features a special Z-Move! The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo unveiled details about a unique Munchlax that evolves into Pulverizing Snorlax for those who purchase Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon by Wednesday, January 11, 2017. A new regional variant Pokémon, Alolan Rattata, was also unveiled for the video games launching on November 23, 2016, exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS family systems.

Munchlax and Snorlax

The early purchase bonus Munchlax, which must be received via players’ Internet connection by January 11, 2017, is holding a special item called Snorlium Z. By evolving Munchlax into Snorlax and having it hold the Snorlium Z, Snorlax becomes able to use a special Z-Move that cannot be used by any other Pokémon—Pulverizing Pancake.

The bonus Munchlax will also know the move Hold Back, which it could not normally learn. Hold Back is an attack move that leaves its opponent with just 1 HP. It can reliably weaken an opposing Pokémon, so it comes in handy when trying to catch wild Pokémon.

The Munchlax being gifted will also know the move Happy Hour, another move it normally couldn’t learn. When players use Happy Hour during a Trainer battle, they’ll receive twice as much prize money after the battle for use on their adventure.

Type: Normal
Snorlax is a Pokémon that has blocked the path of many a Trainer. It’s not satisfied unless it eats in excess of 880 pounds of food every day. When it’s done eating, it promptly goes to sleep. Snorlax’s typical day consists of nothing more than eating and sleeping. It gets fatter and fatter, and it moves less and less. Its stomach is extremely strong, and its digestive juices can dissolve any kind of poison, so eating rotten food doesn’t affect it.

Additional new regional variant Pokémon:

Name: Alolan Rattata
Type: Dark/Normal
Unlike ordinary Rattata, urban areas are Alolan Rattata’s main habitat. They are nocturnal and live in nests of several dozen. Alolan Rattata have an excellent aptitude for sniffing out delicious fresh foods in Alola. They pay no attention to foods that aren’t fresh. Alolan Raticate serve as their boss.

The official Japanese Pokémon website has announced that for those that pre-order the upcoming New Nintendo 3DS LL Solgaleo/Lunala (Black) or the New Nintendo 3DS LL Pikachu (Yellow), they will receive a serial code to unlock a theme which has been designed to suit each version. The New Nintendo 3DS LL Solgaleo/Lunala will feature a theme with Solgaleo and Lunala while the New Nintendo 3DS LL Pikachu will feature a theme with Pikachu.


Both Nintendo 3DS LL systems are available for pre-order starting on July 16th, 2016. Those that pre-order either system will receive a serial code to unlock a theme for the respective version which will be valid to use from November 18th, 2016 until November 30th, 2017.

The event runs until Tuesday July 26th at 3pm! Make sure to try it out!

The Nintendo 3DS Download Game "PokéToru" can be played casually at a basic level for free!
