The Guest Voice Actors for "Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna" have been Revealed
Big news about the anxiously awaited "Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna", which premieres this summer! The movie's guest voice actors have been revealed!
The mythical Pokémon Volcanion is played by the truly versatile Somegoro Ichikawa, whose career as a kabuki actor has landed him roles in both plays, TV serials and movies. This is his first time as a voice actor in an animated movie!
He plays an important Pokémon that hides a dark side: It hates humans!
A Comment from Somegoro Ichikawa
When I got offered the role of Volcanion in this movie, those close to me were extremely shocked and told me things like "No way!" and "I can't picture you of all people doing this!" This is my first time ever voice acting in a cartoon, and while I'm looking forward to it, I'm also anxious... This franchise has such a long history to it, so in order to not disappoint all the Pokémon fans out there, I'm going to try my absolute hardest to mega evolve and change up my voice so well no one will be able to even tell that it's me anymore.
Next, Chymia, princess of Azoth Kingdom, will be played by actress Mayu Matsuoka, who's always in high demand for TV serials and talk shows. Just like Ichikawa, this is her first time as a voice actor in an animated movie! The role of Chymia is that of a princess who's always full of energy and who hates sitting still!
A Comment from Mayu Matsuoka
I've always been a huge fan of both the Pokémon anime and the Pokémon games, and have fond memories from my childhood of going to watch the movies with my family! I am extremely honored I get to voice act in Pokémon, something I've watched so much of over the years. I'm also really genuinely happy I get the chance to co-star with veteran actor Koichi "Yama-chan" Yamadera, who I have immense respect for. Since this is my first time voice acting to animation, I am nervous about how well I'll be able to do, but thanks to the continued guidance of dear Yama-chan and the wonderful people on the production staff, I will try to make sure this year's movie will manage to convey the emotion and excitement Pokémon is so known for as well. This is a dream come true!
Then, Azoth Kingdom's prince Racel, the younger brother of Matsuoka's Chymia, will be played by Shoko Nakagawa, the movie's PokéWoman representative, finally playing in her 10th movie in a row! In this 10 year milestone the extremely excited Nakagawa gets to play a boy!
A Comment from Shoko Nakagawa
I can't believe I've been able to go on an adventure with Pokémon for an entire 10 years now. It's like a dream! Racel, the character I play this year, is a pure and sensitive young boy. It'll be a difficult role, so difficult I get the feeling I'm going to have to update what I've considered my greatest challenge of the roles they've had me play so far. I'm positive this is a role I get to play precisely because I've now gained 10 years of EXP, so I want to fill that EXP with 10 years' worth of gratitude as I Tackle it. I want to play this role of a boy at his most insecure and hesistant part of life perfectly in order to bring the hopes and dreams of Pokémon to the children out there!
And there's one more person you just can't have a Pokémon movie without! Koichi Yamadera, who became the center of attention when he announced his retirement as host of TV Tokyo's childrens' variety show "Oha Suta" for 19 years, will also be appearing for the 19th year in a row! He plays Jarvis, the cabinet minister of Azoth Kingdom that acts as Satoshi and the other's antagonist.
A Comment from Koichi Yamadera
Even though I've retired from "Oha Suta", I still haven't retired from the Pokémon movies! (laughs) I'm very happy to be appearing in the 19th installment of the series in a row this year. I play really different roles every year, so even though this is my 19th time in a row, I'm approaching this as an entirely new experience and will be doing my hardest with the true spirit of challenge! I've heard that Jarvis is a key character to the story, so I'm looking forward to playing him.
We have a huge lineup of truly splendid guest voice actors from a wide variety of fields this year too! You can see all of these personality-rich characters in advance in the trailer that will be playing in theaters all over Japan starting Saturday April 16th, so make sure to stay tuned for that!

The Singer of the Theme Song to Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna is YUKI!
The Singer of the theme song to the movie "Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna", which premieres Saturday July 16th, will be YUKI!
The theme song will be "Throw Your Voice in the Mailbox (Post ni koe wo nageirete)", which YUKI wrote specifically for this movie.
We have received a comment from YUKI, who has been chosen to sing this theme song!
After it was agreed I'd do the theme song, I read the script to the movie, then wrote the song lyrics.
This is a great honor. I am extremely grateful.
I really love letters.
Because of that, whenever I throw a letter in a mailbox, I always think of the recipient's face.
And that face never fails to make me smile.
Holding other people dear is the same as loving yourself.
I wrote these lyrics thinking about how this was surely how Volcanion felt.
I will send this song to all the "I"s and "you"s out there.
May it ride the wind until it reaches you.
YUKI
A trailer that incorporates YUKI's "Throw Your Voice in the Mailbox" will soon be shown on the "Oha Suta" episode airing on the TV Tokyo Network Thursday April 14th at 7:05am!
It will also be shown in theaters all over Japan starting Saturday April 16th! Look forward to it!

This is how amazing the "Volcanion" we're giving out is!!
For the first time ever! A mythical Pokémon that's both "Fire" and "Water" type! Volcanion
Level: 70 Ability: Water Absorb Type: Fire/Water Moves: Steam Eruption, Overheat, Hydro Pump, Mist Held Item: Rage Bun Ball: Precious Ball Ribbon: Wish Ribbon
A move only the mythical Pokémon "Volcanion" can learn: Blow your opponents away with Steam Eruption!
Even though Steam Eruption is a Water type move, since it hurls extremely hot steam at the opponent, it can also burn them!
"Volcanion" has no blind spots!? Its Ability "Water Absorb"
Thanks to its Ability "Water Absorb", Water type moves have no effect on it. Since this is also the Fire type's weakness, this Ability means Volcanion has no blind spot!? Thanks to having mastered both Fire type and Water type moves, Volcanion can be of great help both in the movie and in battles!
"Volcanion" has mastered both "Fire" and "Water"! It can learn other powerful moves as well!
It can learn both "Overheat", one of the strongest Fire type moves, and "Hydro Pump", one of the strongest Water type moves!!
One of the strongest Fire type moves: Overheat
A Fire type move with extremely high power. However, while it is powerful, your Sp. Attack will drop after using it, so it's important to time its usage right.
One of the strongest Water type moves: Hydro Pump
A Water type move "Volcanion" uses in the movie as well. It causes you to attack by launching huge amounts of water at the opponent with intense force.
Mist
For 5 turns, you will not be affected by the opponent's stat-lowering status moves or secondary effects.
Pokémon Elections
Two counters have been added to the movie site at http://www.pokemon-movie.jp/election/, one counting the "number of Pokémon currently running" and one counting down "how much time is left". Their purpose is unknown.

The first pages from the April issue of Corocoro Comic have leaked, revealing the Pokémon given away with the special movie preorder ticket. Translations follow:
We've actually tried using Volcanion!
A Corocoro-exclusive preview of Volcanion's powers!
Ain't no way you don't want your hands on this one!
Fire and Water gives it perfect coverage!!
One of its biggest appeals is how it has an extreme advantage against Water type moves, one of the Fire type's weaknesses. On the contrary, it can attack with a Water type move itself and land a victory that way!!
It can heal with its Ability "Water Absorb"!!
Don't worry about getting hit by the opponent's Water type moves! Its Ability invalidates them!
It takes no damage and gets no status effects, but recovers HP.
It can then overwhelm the opponent with "Steam Eruption"!!
It starts its counterattack like this. If the move causes a Burn condition, Volcanion will be at a tremendous advantage!
This is its ultimate move, "Steam Eruption"!!
This move only Volcanion can learn has it expel boiling steam from both its arms!!
It's extremely powerful, and moreover...!!
It can cause the Burn status condition on the opponent!!
If you buy a special pre-order movie ticket, you can-ion get Volcanion in your video game.
