Bertha is one of the members of the Sinnoh Elite Four, specializing in the Ground type.
Bertha resembles Agatha quite a bit, enough so that Shauntal writes about it in one of her books. She may be a descendant of Charm, but this has not been confirmed.

Pokémon the Series

While on their way to the Grand Festival at the Lake Side Resort, Ash and his friends encountered Bertha and Brock recognized her almost immediately. She took him aside and told him not to reveal her identity to anyone else but Brock found it hard to and eventually told his friends who she was by accident.

Bertha observed Ash and his friends as the tracked down Team Rocket and recovered Yōshichi's Magby. After Team Rocket was disposed of and were sent flying away, Ash asked Bertha for a battle which she agreed to. She sent out her Hippowdon to battle against Ash's Torterra. After a fierce battle between the two, Hippowdon was victorious.
