Viz has confirmed the release dates for the upcoming Movie 17 Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction Region 1 DVD and English Manga. The Manga will be release February 3rd, 2015 and the DVD will be released February 17th, 2015.

Both sets will be released on November 19th, 2014, just a few days before the launch of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Beyond Home Entertainment has announced some new products that will be released later in 2014 in Australia. The Pokémon: The Heritage Collection is a 54 DVD discs set that features over 168 hours of content in this limited edition collectors set beautifully presented in a Poké Ball resin mould. The set features all the episodes from the first 9 seasons of the English dub. The set will retail for $250 AUD. Full details of this set are available in the DVD database entry.

Press Release - Pokémon Movie 17 Coming in December 2014 in Australia

The all-new, highly anticipated Pokémon movie – the seventeenth for the popular evergreen franchise – will be released by Beyond on DVD in December 2014. Titled Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, the film is the first from the new X & Y Generation, which in turn will be heralded by the arrival of two new Nintendo DS games, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, due for release in Australia in November, along with the release of new Pokémon toy lines and trading cards.

A limited theatrical release in Australia and New Zealand is being planned for Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, following on from a successful cinematic release in Pokémon’s home country of Japan, where the film grossed the equivalent of US$25 million dollars at the box office.

Beyond has scheduled Pokémon: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction for DVD release on 1 December, 2014.

Viz Media Re-releases Indigo League DVDs

Multiple retailers have added the re-release versions of the Pokémon Indigo League to their release schedules. The three separate sets are virtually identical to the ones released in 2007 except they have been repackaged in a 3 disc digi case. Also revealed was the Pokémon Indigo League DVD Complete Collection which will be released in North America on October 28th, 2014 for the suggested retail price of $50 USD. The Pokémon Company has posted the latest Pokémon the Series: XY English dub episodes on iTunes for purchase in North America and the United Kingdom. The Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova (Box Set 1) was just revealed by Viz Media for release in North America on September 23rd, 2014, so fans will have a gap in the episodes available for purchase for a few months. Older episodes were recently posted on Netflix and Hulu. The DVD releases in North America have been notoriously slow and many of the seasons have been very hard to purchase due to high DVD prices. Beyond Home Entertainment in Australia though has been fairly up to date with the previous season DVD releases, but this marks the first time that current season episodes of the English dub are available for purchase.


The first 23 episodes of the series are available which is up to date with the United States airings on Cartoon Network. CITV in the United Kingdom is currently a few episodes ahead of Cartoon Network in the US but oddly they can only purchase the first 16 episodes at the moment.

The Pokémon the Series: XY is available to purchase in Standard and High definition. There are currently two volumes for purchase and each volume sells for $21.99USD/£19.99 in HD and $19.99/£18.99 in SD. The first episode of the series is available for free on the North American iTunes posting but individual episodes can also be purchase separately for $2.99/£2.49 in HD and $1.99/£1.89 in SD.

The official Japanese Pokémon YouTube page has posted two Japanese Pokémon TCG videos. The first is a commercial for the Rising Fist (ライジングフィスト) expansion which will be released on June 14th, 2014. The second video is the Pokémon Card Game XY Starter Set DVD Version video that features a puppet version of Rocket Gang Nyarth explaining the rules for the game. The video is from the DVD included in the Pokémon Card Game XY Starter Sets which were released in Japan on November 8th, 2013.

Phillip Smith asked VizMedia on Facebook on May 13th, 2014 if Pokémon Johto League DVD's would be released and VizMedia replied and said that repackaged versions are in the works but no release date was given. From the follow up posts on the thread, it appears that the DVD's will be released late 2014 or early 2015. Viz and Pioneer initially released Johto DVD's in North America in the early to mid 2000's but they have since gone out of production and the price of the DVD's on eBay and Amazon has been seen upwards of a $100 USD per DVD. The Johto sets have been reissued a few times in Australia by Beyond Home Entertainment.

The English dubbed version of the Pokémon Origins special was released on iTunes on May 28th, 2014 and is available for purchase in North America and Europe. The four episodes can be purchased separately for $2.99/£2.49 per episode in High Definition or $1.99/£1.89 in Standard Definition. All four episodes can be purchased for $11.96/£9.96 in HD or $7.96/£7.56 in SD.


A Bluray is available in Japan and DVD was released in Australia but no physical media releases of the special is currently available in North America and Europe making iTunes the only place for fans to buy these episodes. The episodes can also be viewed for free on Hulu in the United States.

It’s back to the beginning with Pokémon Origins! This animated series tells the story of the very first Pokémon video games, Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. Beyond Home Entertainment has revealed that the first 15 seasons of the English dub anime of Pokémon will be re-released on DVD in Australia on April 1st, 2014. Each of the new repack sets will be a complete season and will contain the same content as the previously released packs and only difference is that each season will be in a plastic digipak. The sets will initially be available at Sanity for $34.99 AUD each but they will be available elsewhere later in the year.


The Pokémon Unova Collector's Book will be released in June of 2014 and it is similar in style to the previous collector box sets. The Unova Collector's Book contains: 18 Discs, 52 hours of content, 142 episodes, Pokémon Statistics and Character profiles, region images and information. As it is a collectors item, there is a limited number being produced.

Also revealed was the first English dub DVD release of Pokémon Origins. The DVD will be released on April 28th, 2014 for a suggested retail price of $13.60 AUD excluding the GST. The DVD's have been added to our database.

Momoclo no Kodomo Matsuri 2012 ~Yoiko no Minna Atsumare!~ (ももクロ子供祭り2012～良い子のみんな集まれーっ！) DVD and Bluray were released in Japan on January 23rd, 2013. They feature the Momoiro Clover Z event "Momokuro no Kodomo Matsuri dayo!" held at Toda-shi Bunka Kaikan on May 5th, 2012. The disc features a live performance of the Best Wishes ending theme Mitemite kotchitchi (みてみて☆こっちっち).


The Bluray and DVD are being distributed by King Records. The Bluray has a catalog number of KIXM-68 and retails for 5,040yen while the 2 disc DVD set has the catalog numbers KIBM-333～334　and retails for 3,990yen. Both the DVD and Bluray have been added to our disc database.

It has been revealed that Kyurem VS The Sword of Justice will be available to view in select Hoyts Cinemas in Australia for at least the weekends of February 16th/17th and February 23rd/24th, 2013.
