As requested by Smash in March of 2013, during the month of April 2013 a new segment would debut called You Choose! Pokémon Anime Request! (キミが決める!ポケモンアニメリクエスト). Viewers were requested to select a Pokémon and then an anime Library episode that features that Pokémon would be shown during the Pokémon Library segment of the show. Viewers needed to send in a postcard with a brief message and their Pokémon selection into the show.

This weeks selection was from Hinako Iizuka (飯塚日奈子) who asked for Pochama (ポッチャマ). Pochama Tries its Best!! (ポッチャマがんばる!!) from the Diamond and Pearl series was the selected episode. Professor Red said his go-to line 'OK! PokéRequ Go!' (OK! ポケリク GO!) to start the repeat episode.

After the Library episode, Shoko-tan reviewed all the currently the revealed Generation 6 Pokémon up to this point: Froakie, Chespin, Fennekin, Xerneas, Yveltal and Sylveon. The VTR featured Golgo and Red visiting Junichi Masuda at GameFreak to get an update for Pokémon X and Y. They brought with them a plate of Gomoku Ankake Pancakes (五目あんかけパンケーキ) which Shoko-tan made. Gomoku Ankake Pancake are pancakes with ankake sauce and five types of vegetables/meats. Realizing that it was Shoko-tan that made them, Masuda-san passed it up and asked Red to try it. Red tried it and it was quite obvious that he didn't like it but all he could say was that it was "Intense" (強烈). Just as Masuda was about to reveal the new Pokémon, they went to a commercial break.

They finally got him to reveal a new Pokémon. Back in the studio, Golgo and Red showed the rest of the members the new Pokémon and Shoko-tan nearly had a heart attack as Mewtwo is one of her favorite Pokémon. The new Pokémon is based off of Mewtwo but no other details were revealed.

The viewers who voted for the winner will then be entered in a lottery where they can win a special poster. (電話投票の勝者に電話してくれた人の中から抽選でポケスマ特製ポスターをプレゼント!). This weeks topic is: "Director Lucario is shouting towards the sunset. But what is he shouting?" (夕日に向かって叫ぶルカリオ部長!一体何を叫んでいる?). Red and Akiyama won the quick round and became this weeks call-ins. Viewers could call in to vote for either.

There was no theme for the Library episode but it did link to the new episode of the week Get Fired Up, Lizardon! VS Kairyu!! (燃えよリザードン!VSカイリュー!!) which featured the return of Satoshi's Lizardon. This weeks Pokémon Library rerun episode was The Lizardon Valley! Till the Day we Meet Again! (リザードンのたに!またあうひまで!!) from the original series. Jan 06 2013 Pokémon Smash 117
The announcer introduced the show by telling the audience that this is the 5th PokéSma Champion Position Tournament, where the previous Champion Director Shoko-tan and the Original Champion Group Member Baba and the 3rd Champion Group Member Yamamoto all Compete for Victory. Golgo and the entire Smash crew were then on hand to wish the viewers a happy new year. They had all made banner scrolls that said: Championship (優勝) as they were all hoping to become the champion. The announcer then went over the previous four tournaments and discussed how each of them went. Baba has made it to the finals in every tournament and Shoko-tan had been in the finals three times and won twice. Shoko-tan is the current champion from the fourth tournament.

Golgo then noticed that Akiyama's banner did not say Championship (優勝) like everyone elses. Instead it said "Runner up" (準優勝)

International Division - Match 1 - Niccolo VS Maru

This battle was only briefly shown. Only one person from the International Division would make it into the Smash Tournament, so the Internation Division all battled each other to determine the champion of the Internation Division and the person who would advance to the main tournament. Niccolo had a Braviary and Buffron while Maru had a Swanna and a Frost Rotom. The battle ended with Nicollo winning as he defeated her Chandela.

International Division - Match 2 - Neese VS Noemi

Once again this battle was quickly shown but Neese had a PorygonZ and a Roubushin while Noemi had a Tsubotsubo and a Kekking. His PorygonZ used Tri Attack on Tsubotsubo and managed to freeze it. Roubushin then attacked and managed to confuse Noemi's Kekking. The battle then fast-forwareded to a point where Neese still had his PorygonZ but also had an Ulgamoth while Noemi had a Raichu and a Aiant but both her Pokémon were defeated at the same time to give Neese the victory.

International Division - Match 3 - Neese VS Niccolo

Thumbnail The battle started with Neese using his PorygonZ and a Roubushin while Niccolo used Braviary and Buffron. Neese's Roubushin used Drain Punch on Niccolo's Buffron and one hit KO'd it. The battle then fast-forwarded and Niccolo's Buffron was replaced with a Gigaiath. Niccolo then managed to knock out PorygonZ. Once again the battle fast-forwarded and Neese's PorygonZ was replaced with an Ulgamoth and we just see Niccolo's Buffron use DynamicPunch (ばくれつパンチ) to knock out Ulgamoth. Neese then sends out his Dredear but at this point Niccolo only has his Buffron with very low HP. Neese's Dredear uses Petal Dance (はなびらのまい) to finish it off and crown Neese the Internaional Division Champion.

As the winner of the last tournament, Shoko-tan go a buy into the second round of the tournament while Baba was placed at the other end of the tournament tree as he was the runner up from the last tournament. The remaining contestants drew numbers out of a box to determine which matchups they would be in for the first round. Yamamoto was the last person to draw numbers and he didn't want to get 5 because he'd be matched up with Baba in the first round, a rematch of the 3rd tournament final battle that Yamamoto won. Unfortunately for him he picked 5.

Neese's Roubushin used Drain Punch on Hariteyama which critically injured it and restored all of Roubushin's HP. Neese's PorygonZ was replaced with his Ulgamoth. Yamirami then used Confuse Ray on Ulgamoth and confused it. Neese's Ulgamoth used Heat Wave and damaged both of Golgo's Pokémon and knocked out Hariteyama. Golgo sent out his trusty Okutank to replace his fallen Hariteyama. It used Ice Beam on Ulgamoth and froze it. Yamirami then knocked out Roubushin leaving Neese with just his frozen Ulgamoth. Okutank then used Hydro Pump to finish it off. Neese then sends out his final Pokémon Dredear but Golgo still had 3 active Pokémon. Dredear used on Yamirami and it became infatuated and less likely to attack. Okutank had a trick up its sleeve though and it used Fire Blast to one hit KO Neese's Dredear and give Golgo the victory in the battle. First Round - Second Match - Red VS Akiyama

ThumbnailAkiyama started off the match by sending out Onigohri and Yukinooh while Red sent out Lizardon and Hassam. Red's Hassam started off by using Bullet Punch on Akiyama's Onigohri and critically hitting it. Onigohri then attacked using Blizzard and damaged both of Red's Pokémon. Lizardon then attacked Yukinooh with Inferno and almost 1 hit KO'd it but it wasn't enough as it was holding a Focus Sash (きあいのタスキ) which allows the holder to endure one potential KO attack by only having 1 HP. Yukinooh then used Blizzard and knocked out Lizardon. Yukinooh was then knock it out as well as it sustained damage from the previous Inferno which had burned it. Red then sent out Dainose while Akiyama sent out Todoseruga. Red's Hassam started off the round by using Bullet Punch on Todoseruga. Blizzard was then used twice by Akiyama and the second time it froze Dainose. Red then decided to switch out his Dainose for a Charem. Onigohri then used Blizzard again and froze Charem this time and knocked out Hassam. Blizzard was used yet again and Charem was knocked out so Dainose returned to battle in a frozen state. Blizzard was used yet again and knocked out Dainose to give Akiyama the victor and Red was eliminated from the tournament.

First Round - Third Match - Yamamoto VS Baba

ThumbnailBaba started off the match by sending out Lucario and Ononokus while Yamamoto sent out Crecelia and Wash Rotom. Wash Rotom used Thunderbolt on Suicune and did approximately 70% damage. Suicune then used Ice Beam on Crecelia while Ononokus used Guillotine on Wash Rotom but both attacks did little damage as Yamamoto had used Substitute in a previous turn. Manyula was knocked out in the round though as well due to burn damage. Shoko-tan sent out Gablias while Yamamoto sent out Toritodon. Yamamoto's Chandela used Heat Wave on Shoko-tan's Pokémon and it was enough to knock out her Ulgamoth. Gablias then used Outrage on Toritodon and one hit KO'd it. Shoko-tan then sent out her Crecelia while Yamamoto sent out his Metagross. Crecelia used Protect while Chandela used Heat Wave and it burned Gablias. Metagross used Comet Punch on Crecelia lowering its HP to 84/221. Yamamoto's Chandela used Heat Wave once more to lower Crecelia HP to 7/221 Metagross used Comet Punch on Crecelia to finish it off and give Yamamoto the championship!
The announcer introduced the show by saying: "Ho ho ho! Golgo the Medalman is coming to town! So you'd better watch out for Pokémon Smash!". Golgo and the crew started off by saying Merry Pokésumasu! Golgo gave presents out to Red and Shoko but only one gift to Robert. Golgo then told them to pull the ends out to reveal two gifts but that just left Yamamoto with a wrapping tube which he put on his arm as he couldn't think of anything else to do with the 'present'.

Akiyama introduced this weeks rerun episode as part of the Pokémon Library. The theme for the episode was: Don't be greedy! (よくばったらダメ!). This weeks Pokémon Library rerun episode was Rougela's Christmas (ルージュラのクリスマス) from the original series. A full summary of that episode is available in the episode guide. Professor Red said his go-to line 'OK! Pokémon Library!' to start the repeat episode.

Rougela's Christmas (ルージュラのクリスマス) - Recolored Version

Unlike the 15th anniversary of the Pokémon Anime episode of Pokémon Smash where a real remastered episode aired, Smash 116 contained the first airing of the recolored version of Rougela's Christmas. The episode also aired as part of the special Pokémon TV Show! The Rocket Gang Secret Empire: Pocket Monsters airing on Kids Station earlier in the week. Below are the changes between the Kidstation/Hulu Japan/Unedited version and the recolored version. The edits are also listed in the notes section of the episode guide for this episode.

Timecode Description Image(s)
01:30 The Smash 116 airing of the episode added the anime warning: While watching anime, make sure not to sit too close to the screen and that the room is well lit. (テレビアニメをみるときは、部屋をあかるくして近づきすぎないようにしてくださいね。)
01:49 Both the Pokémon TV Show! The Rocket Gang Secret Empire: Pocket Monsters on Kids Station HD and Smash 116 on TV Tokyo 7 were both not remastered versions of the episode. Both airings featured the telecine/tape gunk at the top of the picture during scene changes. Both airings were on HD stations but both aired upscaled standard definition versions.
03:08 The major difference between the Smash 116 airing of this episode and all previous airings of this episode is that the color of Rougela's skin has been changed from black to purple. Oddly the color change didn't occur till the Smash 116 airing on 2012-12-23 despite the fact the episode also aired 4 days earlier on 2012-12-19 as a special Pokémon TV Show! The Rocket Gang Secret Empire: Pocket Monsters episode.
03:08 The Smash recolored version of the episode featured a significant crop of the picture similar to that of the remastered version of episode 1. A direct frame line up of the Kids Station special airing and the Smash 116 airing shows the difference. The red border is the part of the picture that is in the Kids Station special version but not in the Smash recolored version. The right and left sides of the picture are cropped quite significantly in the Smash 116 airing.
04:02 An obvious spot where the color change can be seen is during the Satoshi's Zukan scene.
04:10 Oddly, part of Rougela's forearms are poorly colored white instead of the original red. It makes part of the round area near its elbow seem to be a weird bump in the recolored version.
05:25 The English dub removed the tag that stated 'Santa Claus" (サンタクロース) in the Japanese versions and replaced it with a brown snowflake tag with the face of Santa Claus.
09:29 The Smash 116 airing did not have the Dare da scene but the Kids Station and Hulu Japan versions kept Rougela black.

After the anime episode, Mr. Medal Golgo sets out for part 3 of his series of episodes and this time he meets with children that have amazing specialties. Part 2 of the series aired during Smash 112. The Internation Division kids then show up and the VTR is started.

They then visited an indoor skateboarding park where they met Kaya Isa. She showed off a 360 trick. Neese and Noemi then showed up on skateboards and they were then taught how to do a basic jump on a skateboard. Golgo and Red then did rock-paper-scissors to see who would be the one to lay down on the ground while the skateboarders jumped over them. Red lost and he was the 'victim'. Lucario then lay down and the two skateboarders jumped of it. Then they tried to get Kaya to do a skateboard flip trick and on her 5th try she almost did it successfully. Golgo awarded her the Elite Medal (エリートメダル).

After the commercial break, the group moved on and visited with Team Ebina Junior (エビナーゼジュニア) who were the National Champions for Throw Ball into Basket (玉入れ全国大会優勝!). They use Ajta balls (アジャタボール) to throw up into the basket. Ajta comes from the All Japan Tamaire Association.

Tamaire Game

“Tamaire” is a game traditionally played by elementary school children at sport festivals. It takes about 200 stuffed balls, 2 baskets and 2 poles to hold the baskets. Any number of children can participate.

The winner is determined by seeing how many balls can be thrown into each basket within a certain time. Traditionally there are two teams; one is the Red-team and the other is the White-team. Each team has about 100-stuffed balls colored Red or White. The balls are placed on the ground first and the children pick them up and throw them into the basket, which is on a pole about 1.5 meters or 2 meters high.

AJTA has made the game slightly more regulated and orderly so that adults can enjoy it as well. They also organized an official tournament held on the first or second Sunday of September each year.

The size of the basket and its height originated in very unique way, based on such things as the north latitude and the lowest recorded temperature in Wasamu town.

It all started in August 1990 in a town called Wassamu-cho as an outdoor sport. It was the very first Tamaire Championship held as part of the town’s “Fureai Matsuri” festival or “ Getting to know each other festival.”

Since then the official rules as well as standards for equipment were formalized and introduced aiming to spread the game throughout Japan and to become a true “All-Japan Championship tournament.”

Now it is well reorganized and can be enjoyed even by adults. It is so easy to play that you hardly notice the rules.

Golgo then wanted to see how well they could do throwing 100 balls up into the basket. The 6 kids managed to do it quite fast. Niccolo and Maru then showed up to try out the game and learn how to stack the balls to throw them better. The Smash team then faced off against the National Champion team. The Smash team lost but only had 6 balls left. Golgo then presented the team with the Master Medal (マスターメダル).

Nov 11 2012 Pokémon Smash 110
The announcer introduced the show by saying: "Welcome back! Today we will do the collaboration of the Best Wishes Season 2! Let's kick off! PokéSmash!". The episode started with the entire cast pertending to be sleeping while Twinkle Twinkle Little Star played. Akiyama then asked the question "What day is today?" (今日は何の日?). Yamamoto then explained that they were trying to come up with a name for that day. They discussed different names and gave various reasons for chosing the name. What they eventually came up with was "Plusle and Minun Day" since the kanji for 11 is 十一, so 11/11 is 十一十一, plus-minus-plus-minus. To the western world, November 11th, is Remembrance Day.
