Dec 26 2011 Pokémon Smash 64
The announcer introduced the show by saying: "Happy Holidays! This is the last edition of the year! We'll bring you a very Merry Pokémon Smash! Ho Ho ho!". The Pokémon Smash crew was busy decorating a Christmas tree when Golgo walked in and said: Merry Pokésumas! (メリー ポケスマス!). Shoko-tan decided to put a lampstand ( Bonbori 雪洞), usually used in the Japanese Doll Festival / Girls Day, on the top of the tree where the star generally would go. After seeing the lampstand on the tree, Golgo began singing the song lyrics to the Hinamatsuri song 「Akari o tsukemashou bonbori ni あかりをつけましょ ぼんぼり に」 as the bonbori on the tree reminded him on the song. Quickly though his attitude changed and called Shoko-tan his normal 'Bakamon!'(バカモーン!) as obviously the bonbori has no place on a Christmas tree.

Next Professor Red put up a Koinobori (鯉幟) on the Christmas tree which is a carp-shaped wind sock traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no Sekku (端午の節句) but the holiday is now called Children's Day and is held on May 5th. Golgo began singing the first line of the Koinobori song after he saw it on the tree. He quickly called Red a 'Bakamon!' as once again a Koinobori has no place on a Christmas tree.

Finally, Akiyama put a tag on the Christmas tree that said: May the portrait of Yamamoto's mother be seen all over Japan. 「山本隊員のお母さんの似顔絵が日本中ではやりますように」. It was a wish that should have been made during Tanabata (七夕) and Golgo pointed out that the wish tag had no place on a Christmas tree. Akiyama still decided to show the picture of Yamamoto's mother.

The crew introduced this weeks rerun episode as part of the Pokémon Library. This weeks Pokémon Library rerun episode was Tornelos VS Voltolos VS Landlos! (Part 2)(トルネロスVSボルトロスVSランドロス!(後編)) from the Best Wishes series. A full summary of that episode is available in the episode guide. Professor Red said his go-to line 'OK! Pokémon Library!' to start the repeat episode.

After the Library episode, the International division girls showed up. Shoko-tan then announced she had made a dessert she called: Ikasumi Bûche de Noël (イカスミ ブッシュ・ド ・ノエル). The entire crew did not want to try it obviously and Shoko-tan was a bit sad because she'd worked hard on it. Professor Red to the rescue though! His latest invention the: RED069 - Show who is chosen by a Roulette Wheel! (RED069 ルーレットで決めまショー!). The device was a roulette wheel that had all the names of the members on it. Yamamoto pointed out that Professor Red's slice was the smallest and Yamamoto's was the largest. Yamamoto switched names locations so that he had the smallest slice and Red had the larges. Red pulled the lever and the wheel spun around. It landed on Shoko-tan but then spun up again. It then landed on Red, but then quickly spun to Yamamoto and stayed there. Yamamoto once again had to eat Ikasumi (Squid Ink).

Nov 28 2011 Pokémon Smash 60
The 60th episode of Pokémon Smash, An Impostor Okido!? Pokémon Senryu Showdown!! / Professor Akido's Great Experiment on Pokémon 'Items' and 'Natures'! / Group Member Baba the Dragon Type User Takes the Stage in the Elite Four Battle!!

After the narrator introduces the episode with the words "And today we'll feature one and only, Doctor Akido, and it's time for Pokémon Smash", we see Professor Red working on an invention as Golgo, Shoko-tan and Robert walk in. Red explains that today is November 27th, the anniversary date of the establishment of the Nobel prize, and he wanted to finish his latest invention that day.

The topic then switches to the Pokémon Library. Akiyama has chosen today's episode, An Impostor Okido!? Pokémon Senryu Showdown!! (にせオーキド!?ポケモンせんりゅうたいけつ!!) from the original series. A full summary of that episode is available in the episode guide. Today's lesson is "There's no substituting the real deal!" (ホンモノは格がちがう!) Golgo asked Red to do his standard introduction line, but Red was busy with his invention and asked Baba to substitute. Baba ended up using the old "OK! Poké we go" line from Pokémon Sunday instead of the new Smash line.

After the rerun ended, the crew was joined by the International Division, and Red presented his new invention, the RED 066 Chief-only Poké Toy (所長専用ポケじゃらし) . He explains it is based on the Poké Toy item from the games (ポケじゃらし, named after the foxtail cat toy, which is named 猫じゃらし in Japanese), which allows the user to instantly escape from a battle with wild Pokémon by calming and distracting it. He claims the Chief-only Poké Toy will likewise calm Chief Golgo's anger when used on him. The entire crew doubts this, but Red proves the invention works when he manages to calm Golgo after enraging him by saying he had damaged the Chief's car. Yamamoto tried to see if it worked on Akiyama too, but was unable to calm him down after angering him.

Professor Red then unveiled his next invention, the RED 067 Fire Gem Juice (ほのおのジュエルジュース), which he says is a liquified form of the game item Fire Gem (ほのおのジュエル), which boosts the power of a single Fire type move if held. Baba tries it out, and finds it extremely spicy, but he can't test if it actually boosts the power of a Fire type move or not - he knows no such moves, since he isn't a Pokémon.

Yamamoto says Red should join up with Professor Akido if he's going to continue like this, which reminds Akiyama that Akido has asked for Yamamoto and Baba to go see him. The two aren't very happy about that, but Golgo sends them off, as we are shown clips of old Professor Akido segments.

When they two meet with Akido, he explains he wants to investigate held items from Pocket Monsters Black and White; namely the Red Card (レッドカード), which causes the opponent to switch with a different Pokémon when it hits the holder. Akido wants to see if it works for humans as well, and gives Baba a Red Card before sending him into a battle with a young karate boy. The boy lands a hard kick on Baba after being hit with his rubber mallet, but Baba holds up the Red Card, and surely enough, the boy leaves... switching with a middle schooler karate boy, this one with a blue belt and a much harder kick. Baba manages to make him switch by showing him the Red Card too, but he switches with a huge foreigner with a black belt and 15 years of karate experience - and he doesn't leave when shown the Red Card either, ripping it to shreds instead. As Baba runs away, Akido conclusion is:
"The Red Card does not work against foreigners."
Thumbnail Thumbnail Thumbnail

Next, Akido wants to see what Natures (性格) the two have, explaining how the Natures in the games affect how Pokémon stats grow as it gains levels. He determines Yamamoto's Nature must definitely be Hasty (せっかち) due to his quick-and-dirty mentality, and that this should make his Speed high and his Defense low, which they decide to test by having a volleyball machine shoot volleyballs at him. While he manages to dodge them, Akido eventually adds a group of handball players to the mix assaulting Yamamoto with handballs, which sends him to the floor pretty quick. Akido notes that Yamamoto's Defense is indeed quite low.

Akido then deduces that Baba's Nature is Relaxed (のんき), which has the exact opposite effect - low Speed but high Defense. He is given some protective gear and subjected to the same attacks as Yamamoto was, but ends up getting downed equally fast - it turns out humans and Pokémon are different after all.

Thumbnail Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

Yamamoto prepares to end the segment, but Akido says there's still more to it. Yamamoto and Baba both refuse to continue, and Akido says their Nature must be Adamant (いじっぱり)... which leads him to test that theory. The Adamant nature increases Attack and lowers Special Attack, which he'll test in an "arm sumo wrestling" match. Akido decides to bring out Yamamoto's latent energy, thus increasing his Attack stat, by having him put his feet in a tray of ice water during the match. It initially appears to have an effect, but Yamamoto is still losing, so Akido decides to feed him shave ice to increase his Attack even further. Of course, it's squid ink shave ice. While it seems it's making him win, the sumo wrestler eventually stops playing around and wins in one quick motion.

Akido prepares to test Baba again, but he refuses, and Yamamoto points out that Akido's Nature must be Careful (しんちょう) the way he's constantly smooth-talking them into doing this stuff while avoiding it himself. That means his Special Defense is high and his Special Attack is low, and they decide to test that, as the obviously Careful Akido is trying to sneak away. Akido puts on a shower cap and swimming shorts, as the other decide to test how well his Special Defense handles the move Scald (ねっとう) by having the sumo wrestler from earlier drench him in hot water. He does not handle it well, and collapses face front on the ground. As such, his final conclusion is:
"Human natures do not affect their strength"

He also concludes that people shouldn't put their face on the ground, as there might be poop there. Akiyama and Baba signed off with the line "Everyone, get Pokémon".

The Elite Four battle was next, and today's challenger was 11 year old Naoya Fuchigami (渕上直哉), who showed off by correctly naming the types of all the Pokémon the crew asked him, before asking Hana out (and getting turned down). He went up against Baba, but Baba's Pokémon outsped all of his, and knocked them all out with one hit from Outrage before he could even make a move.

The 2011 Pokémon World Championships are underway in San Diego, California with many fans competing in the TCG and Video Game world championships. One highlight for many fans was the special song presentation by MTM with Battle Woman M. The members of the band were revealed at the 2011 World Championships as part of the Opening Ceremony to the surprise of many. Battle Woman M is Misaki Momose from Pokémon Smash, GAME FREAK director Junichi Masuda plays the keyboards, Shinji Miyazaki is the bassist and finally Creatures president Hirokazu Tanaka is the drummer.

The song Battle Gene M (バトル遺伝子M) and the group MTM (mystery thunder mask) were first presented on Pokémon Smash 43 but the reveal was clouded in mystery and the band members were all wearing complete face masks so it was hard to identify them. It was revealed a few weeks ago that the songs lyrics are by Akihito Toda, the original Music is by Junichi Masuda and the Arrangement was done by Shinji Miyazaki but the fact that they were also band members was not revealed till the Opening Ceremony performance. Below are some pictures from the Opening Ceremony and more are available on our imageboard thread.

Pokémon Smash Episode 43, The Rocket Gang Disbands!? Respective Roads! / The Adventure Division's Battle Royal with Toy Pokémon! / A Mysterious Band Comes to the Pokémon Enterprise!?(ロケット団解散!? それぞれの道! / アドベンチャー部がおもちゃのポケモンになってバトルロイヤル! / ポケモンエンタープライズにナゾのバンドが登場!?), aired on Sunday in Japan.

The announcer introduced what was on the show. He started the show by saying: "Uh yes, we'll get you the last Pokémon Entertainment show right here on Pokémon Smash!". The episode starts with Akiyama playing a Nintendo 3DS game and then Golgo asks if they had done their homework. Trying to avoid answering Golgo, Golgo decides to give them a stack of Pokémon letter tracing books.

Professor Red introduced this weeks rerun episode as part of the Pokémon Library and he also announces this weeks theme, Sharing with your friends feels good!(みんなで仲良くわければ いい感じ!). This weeks Pokémon Library rerun episode was The Rocket Gang Disbands!? Respective Roads! (Part 1)(ロケット団解散!? それぞれの道!) from the Diamond and Pearl series. A full summary of that episode is available in the episode guide. Professor Red said his go-to line 'OK! Pokémon Library!' to start the repeat episode.

After the Pokémon Library episode, the International divison girls showed up with Yadon tails on and a bunch of extra ones. On August 11th, 2011, Super Pokémon Scramble (スーパーポケモンスクランブル) will be released in Japan. One of the modes in the game is called Battle Royale. It features a bunch of Pokémon in an every man for himself arena. The Pokémon Smash crew took this idea and did their own Pokémon Battle Royale. Each crew member wore the tail and the last person remaining with their tail on was the winner. It was similar to flag football where other players were trying to pull the tail off.

Thumbnail Thumbnail Thumbnail
Click on images for higher resolution

Yamamoto was the first out as Maria caught his tail. Misaki was the next one out as Hana got her tail. Akiyama then knocked Maria's tail off and then Professor Red got Shoko-tan tail. While Baba was trying to get Hana's tail Golgo snuck in behind and took Baba's tail. Akiyama tried to be fancy with his moves but his tail fell off leaving just Red, Golgo, and Hana. Hana ended up getting Professor Red's tail leaving just Golgo and Hana. Golgo farted to try to distract Hana and then while imitating a batter's stance, Hana rushed in and stole his tail making her the winner of the Battle Royale.

Robert then went out on an Adventure Division Battle Royale with Toy Pokémon! This episode segment was similar to the Robert Investigates 'Melee! Pokémon Scramble' in Pokémon Sunday #262. Yamamoto dressed up as Kibago, Akiyama dressed up as his standard Victini and Baba dressed up as Waruvile. They all went to the Pokémon Quiz Area where they would defeat Pokémon by answering a trivia question. A bunch of people showed up to emulate the Pokémon that would be in an area in Pokémon Scramble. Each of them had a question card on them. If one of the members of Robert answered the question correctly, that person (Pokémon) would be defeated. If they answered incorrectly, that member of Robert would be out and would be hit by the fan that the people were carrying.

The first quiz questions where just getting the Pokémon type right. Like in the games, at the end of each area there is a boss. Hayashi Katsuji (林 克治) and Yashiro Hiroyuki(家城 啓之) of the comedy duo Kalika (カリカ) were the boss for this area. Yashiro Gamageroge and Hayashi Minezumi proved to be hard types for Robert to figure out. Baba and Akiyama both got their types right. Yamamoto was able to figure out their types though to clear the area and they joined Robert in a Battle Royale. In the Battle Royale, each person had an item that the members of Robert had to identify the item they had like a hat, bucket, Pokémon Pan, ect. Yashiro Gamageroge and Hayashi Minezumi also took turns. There was also a boss at the end of the Battle Royale round, Voltolos (ボルトロス). It wasn't until Baba finally answered Volumbrella (かさボル) that they defeated the boss.

They showed quick interviews of people who had just finished watching the new 14th Pocket Monsters movies at the theater. The announcer also reminded the audience that Zekrom and Reshiram were both being distributed at Japanese theaters for players that brought their Pokémon Black or White games. Zekrom and Reshiram both have the OT of Satoshi (サトシ). Players that brought Pokémon Black to the theater got Zekrom while players that brought Pokémon White received Reshiram. Detailed information about Satoshi's Zekrom and Satoshi's Reshiram are available in the Event database.

Continuing the Adventure Division's Battle Royale with Toy Pokémon, the did a Charge Battle (とつげきバトル). Akiyama ran in front with a flag just like in the game to show where they would be charging to. In the game, player charge by rapidly pressing the A button and the group of Pokémon with the most charged energy wins. They then played a bumping butts game where the object was to knock the opponent over. Robert's team ended up winning the first round. The next round featured a bunch of sumo wrestlers dressed as Buffron. They did a wrestling round where Robert ended up loosing. They then negotiated to do a rematch round where instead of wrestling they would try to push the other over by high fiving. Robert ended up just barely winning that round as Akiyama Victini proved to be very agile.

Battle Gene M (バトル遺伝子M)

A mysterious band showed up at the Pokémon Enterprise and sang the song Battle Gene M (バトル遺伝子M). Misaki was not around to watch the band sing the song and most of the Smash crew though that the mysterious lead singer was Misaki. The girl identified herself as Battle Woman M (バトルウーマンM) instead. She then said she was part of the group MTM (Mystery Thunder Mask). The song she sang was based of the Pocket Monsters Black and White background music track Battle! Shirona (戦闘!シロナ) which is track 50 on CD #3 of the soundtrack.

The lyrics to the song have been added to the song database.

After Pokémon Smash 43 finished airing, a clip was posted on the official TV Tokyo YouTube page. The clip contained extra footage that was not aired in the episode which explains the transformation of Misaki into the battle woman M. The clip also contains a music video of the song Pokemon Smash! 『battle gene M』 (ポケモンスマッシュ!バトルテーマソング『バトル遺伝子M』) by MTM (mystery thunder mask) with battle woman M. The BW heart shaped neckless transforms Misaki into battle woman M. BW stands for 'Battle Woman' but similarities to Black/White and Best Wishes are also prevalent. The songs lyrics are by Akihito Toda, the original Music is by Junichi Masuda and the Arrangement was done by Shinji Miyazaki.
