Out of This World Ultra Beast Pokémon to Make Debut in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket with Upcoming Themed Booster Pack Extradimensional Crisis

Bellevue, Wash. — May 22, 2025 — Today, the Pokémon Company group announced that the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app will soon release a new themed booster pack entitled Extradimensional Crisis beginning May 29. In addition, Trainers can look forward to new themed events and accessories coming soon to the app.

New Extradimensional Crisis Themed Booster Pack

In Extradimensional Crisis, players can collect Ultra Beast Pokémon cards such as Buzzwole ex, Blacephalon, Nihilego and Guzzlord ex. First appearing in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, Ultra Beast Pokémon are mysterious life-forms from another world that emerged from Ultra Wormholes and give off a mysterious, alien energy.

In celebration of their debut in Pokémon TCG Pocket, a new Ultra Beast-themed binder cover will be available for players to obtain through the Shop with shop tickets beginning May 29. Players will also be able to showcase their favorite card in a new floral display board, obtainable using event shop tickets gained through the upcoming wonder pick event between June 11 at 11 p.m. PDT to June 28 at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Furthermore, Trainers will also be able to encounter more Pokémon from the Alola region in Extradimensional Crisis, including the debut of Type: Null.

The NHK Symphony Orchestra Pokémon Mini Concert in Sapporo, Hokkaido (N響メンバーによるポケモンミニコンサート in 北海道札幌市) will take place on Sunday, June 1st, 2025. The performance will be streamed on the official Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel at a later date.

Bellevue, Wash. — April 24, 2025 — Today, The Pokémon Company group announced that the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app will soon release the new Celestial Guardians expansion, available around the world beginning April 30. In addition, players can look forward to an upcoming drop event and special missions.

New Celestial Guardians Expansion

In Celestial Guardians, players can discover many beloved Pokémon as seen in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, with the expansion’s two new digital booster packs featuring the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala. Players around the world can collect new cards from the Celestial Guardians expansion, including the Alola region’s first partner Pokémon: Rowlet, Litten and Popplio, by opening booster packs or by using the wonder pick feature.


Furthermore, beginning May 1 players can flaunt their favorite cards with new accessories including a binder cover and display board featuring Rowlet.

Upcoming Drop Event and Special Missions

From Tuesday, April 29 at 11:00 p.m. PDT to Monday, May 12 at 10:59 p.m. PDT, players can take on special solo battles to obtain new promo cards, including one featuring Rayquaza ex. Event Details

Academy Events are events that let you strengthen Academy Sync Pairs by interacting with various Sync Pairs each round and acquiring exclusive upgrade items. You can take on Academy Events as many times as you like during their event period. Enjoy replaying them until you get the results you want.

Note: Academy Sync Pairs are trained using exclusive Sync Grids.
Note: During an Academy Experience, only one Sync Grid can be used for upgrades.

Academy Sync Pair Details

At the start of an Academy Event, you’ll team up with an Academy Sync Pair. At first, it’ll be difficult for the Academy Sync Pair to be effective in battle, but they’ll get stronger as you activate their Sync Grid tiles. Make sure to strengthen your Sync Pair in the event so they can prove their worth in the battles to come.

Collect Exclusive Sync Orbs!

The exclusive Sync Orbs needed to strengthen Academy Sync Pairs can only be found and used within this event. Area info appears at random, and the type and quantity of the exclusive Sync Orbs that can be obtained will differ with each area info. Feel free to take on area info that catches your attention! Some special area info can even earn you large quantities of these exclusive Sync Orbs! Take on various area info over the course of twelve rounds during your Academy Experience!

Note: Your number of exclusive Sync Orbs resets each time you start an Academy Experience.
Note: Please be aware that if you quit or are disconnected while attempting to look around an area, you will proceed to the next round without being able to receive any rewards.

Exclusive TM Orb Details

Among the types of Sync Orbs, there are special Sync Orbs that allow your Sync Pairs to learn moves. Since you need these exclusive TM Orbs to learn moves, do your best to take on any area info that includes them.

Exams

There will be a midterm exam in round 6 and a final exam in round 12. Exams are special one-on-one battles only for Academy Sync Pairs. These one-off battles can’t be replayed, so make sure to strengthen your Academy Sync Pair beforehand.

Note: If you quit or are disconnected during one of these battles, it will be considered a defeat, and you will not receive rewards for it.
Note: After an exam, the event will continue, regardless whether you passed or failed the exam.

Use Custom ★ Power-Ups

Once you complete an Academy Experience, you can receive Academy Sync Pair Custom ★ Power-Ups. Use Custom ★ Power-Ups to strengthen your Academy Sync Pairs, and play the event again!

Note: You can exchange unneeded Academy Sync Pair Custom ★ Power-Ups for items via the Exchange Items menu.

Replay Events

Each time you do an Academy Event, your Academy Sync Pair’s upgrades will start from scratch. How your Academy Sync Pair turns out will depend on what area info you take on and which upgrades you select. Try to achieve rank A so you can view a special story after the final exam. Take on the event as many times as you need to develop your perfect Academy Sync Pair.

Note: If you wish to restart during an event, reset the Academy Experience from the history log in the upper right corner of the area info selection screen.

Select the Grid to Keep

Academy Sync Pairs have two different Sync Grids.

In-Training Grid - These grids can only be used within Academy Events. Activate these grids’ tiles during events to strengthen your Academy Sync Pairs.

Completed Grid - Once you take the final exam in round 12, the Academy Experience will be complete. Then, you’ll select the grid you’d like to keep. If you are satisfied with the upgrades you obtained, you can keep the contents of the In-Training Grid as your Completed Grid. If you are not satisfied with the upgrades you obtained, you can keep your previous Completed Grid instead. Changes made to your Completed Grid will also be reflected in battles outside of the Academy Event.

About Trial Battles

In a Trial Battle, you can take on a battle using either your In-Training Grid or Completed Grid. You can access the Trial Battle feature from the rank confirmation screen during your second Academy Experience playthrough and onward. If you’re having trouble deciding which grid to keep, try testing them out in a Trial Battle.

The 2025 Pokémon North America International Championships take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans from June 13th, 2025 to June 15th, 2025.

2025 Pokémon North America International Championships

The Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC) are the final International Championships event of the 2025 Championship Series season, featuring exciting competitions for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet videogames, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE. Competitors are vying for precious Championship Points that will determine who will earn an invitation to the 2025 Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California, in August.

This season’s NAIC will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, from June 13–15, 2025. NAIC will award high amounts of Championship Points, direct invitations to the 2025 World Championships, and more than $500,000 USD in prizes, spread across the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon VGC, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE competitions. 2025 Pokémon North America International Championships Prizing Information

The International Championships are not just a global stage to prove you're among the best in the world-they're also an opportunity to win amazing prizes. At the 2025 North America International Championships, this includes a prize pool of over $500,000 USD, Pokémon Trading Card Game booster packs, and direct invitations to the 2025 Pokémon World Championships.

Younger Trainers can win plenty of prizes as well, but instead of cash, they'll be eligible to win scholarships or prepaid Visa cards. You can use 25 Tinkatink Candy to evolve Tinkatink into Tinkatuff and 100 Tinkatink Candy to evolve Tinkatuff into Tinkaton.

For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. Timed Research rewards include the following.
