The Pokémon Company International and Fathom Events Partner to Bring Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us to Cinemas in Select Locations Worldwide
First Trailer Unveiled for the New Animated Pokémon Movie, Coming to Theatres as a Limited Release Later This Year
Today, The Pokémon Company International announced that it is once again partnering with Fathom Events to bring a new animated film, Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, to select cinemas in multiple territories as a limited theatrical release. The agreement with Fathom Events, the recognized leader in event cinema distribution, follows a successful cinema event collaboration last year that showcased Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! and garnered strong attendance worldwide.
Based on the globally popular Pokémon brand, Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us follows Ash and Pikachu as they join forces with a diverse new cast of characters to rescue a seaside town from a series of threatening incidents. Filled with unique challenges and thrilling Pokémon battles, and set during a festival celebrating the Legendary Pokémon Lugia, this heartwarming film illustrates the value of teamwork and putting aside each other’s differences.
“Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us gives fans and families an opportunity to come together in witnessing new plotlines, characters, and settings unfold in the Pokémon world,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “We can’t wait to bring the magic of Pokémon to life on the big screen again with Fathom Events’ expertise in event cinema.”
The highly anticipated Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us will be shown in movie theatres in select markets. More information on the cinema events, including participating movie theatres, screening dates, and ticketing, will be available soon. Since debuting as Pokémon the Movie: Everyone’s Story in Japan, where the Pokémon franchise originated, the movie has already received widespread viewership.
“We are excited to work with The Pokémon Company International on their latest entry in animation by debuting Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us outside of Japan,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “We look forward to delivering another high-quality Pokémon experience that will delight fans nationwide and abroad.”

Niantic has announced that Pokémon which are traded in Pokémon GO have a chance to become sparkly Lucky Pokémon.
Lucky Pokémon Are Ready for a New Adventure!
Trainers, Professor Willow has made an important new discovery about Pokémon! His findings suggest that Pokémon can take on a new trait when they are traded. The trait’s origin is a mystery, and you can experience it soon in Pokémon GO!
According to his research, there is a chance that Pokémon, when traded, can become sparkly Lucky Pokémon. It seems that Lucky Pokémon require less Stardust to power up, which means they can reach a higher CP much faster than other Pokémon. Plus, a Lucky Pokémon can be detected by the Pokédex, so you can keep track of them!
The longer the Pokémon spends inside a Trainer’s Pokémon storage, the higher the chance of them becoming Lucky Pokémon when they are traded. Whether or not being in storage causes Pokémon to become Lucky Pokémon remains a mystery, but be sure to stay posted for more results from the professor’s research.
With the discovery of Lucky Pokémon, Gifts also can include special new surprises. Trainers who send Gifts to friends will now receive XP for doing so and Gifts also have a chance of containing Stardust!
It’s time to begin a new journey with Lucky Pokémon! Share a photo of your new find with #LuckyPokemon on your preferred social media channels. Stay safe, and happy exploring!
New Information Revealed for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will both feature a variety of exclusive Pokémon which are unique to each game. In Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! Trainers will be able to capture Pokémon including Oddish, Sandshrew and Growlithe; while players of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be able to capture Pokémon such as Bellsprout, Vulpix and Meowth.
At the start of players’ adventures, they will receive their first partner Pokémon, either Pikachu or Eevee. Unlike regular Pokémon, their first partner Pokémon is not interested in evolving and instead prefers to stay out of its Poké Ball. It will travel with players throughout their journey by hanging on their shoulder or riding on their head. Players can become best friends with their Pikachu or Eevee and can pet, feed and even tickle them. Not only that, but players can dress up their Trainer and partner Pokémon in a wide variety of cool and cute outfits, accessories and even hairstyles to become the perfect style duo with their new best friend.
As players travel throughout the Kanto region, they will meet some familiar faces as well as a few new ones. Professor Oak returns, alongside a new Rival, to present the Pokédex—a high-tech encyclopedia that records data on any new species of Pokémon that players catch in the games. Players will be able to battle Gym leaders across Kanto, including fan favourites Brock, the Gym Leader of Pewter City, and Misty, the Gym Leader of Cerulean City, as they strive to become the Pokémon League champion. In-game Pokémon Trainers aren’t the only ones who can be battled. Players will be able to connect with other players online* or via local wireless communication between Nintendo Switch consoles to enjoy intense Pokémon battles. They will also be able to trade Pokémon with each other using these communication features to help complete their Pokédex.
For the first time in a mainline Pokémon game, two people can now play together on one system! By shaking a second Joy-Con™, another player can join the fray. There are some real benefits to adventuring together as well, including making it easier to catch Pokémon and even battling against tough Trainers as a tag team in Pokémon battles. Grab a friend, explore Kanto and experience an adventure like no other.
The Poké Ball Plus is a device that can be used to play Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! in place of a Joy-Con or alongside Pokémon GO instead of the Pokémon GO Plus**. The Poké Ball Plus also allows players to bring one of their Pokémon from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! with them as they explore the real world. The Mythical Pokémon Mew will be available in the Poké Ball Plus, and players will be able to transfer it to their version of these new games.*** The Poké Ball Plus will be available to purchase separately at retail alongside Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! on November 16.

Niantic has posted a video on YouTube showing off some new technology they are working on for use in their upcoming games. The technical demo video showcases Pikachu and Eevee running around and weaving around real world objects.
Codename: Niantic Occlusion - Real World AR Occlusion featuring Pikachu and Eevee
The recently acquired Matrix Mill team at Niantic has spent years building and perfecting deep neural networks that can infer information about the surrounding world from one or more cameras. This technology redefines how machines see and understand the 3D world and more importantly, how digital objects can interact with the real elements of it. Using computer vision and deep learning we are able to develop techniques to understand 3D space enabling much more realistic Augmented Reality (AR) interactions than are currently possible. In the above AR experience of Codename: Niantic Occlusion, you can see Pikachu and Eevee weaving through and around different objects in the real world, dodging feet and hiding behind planters. This level of integration into the environment around us is a proof-of-concept that excites us about the future of AR.
