NEW POKÉMON SCARLET AND POKÉMON VIOLET DETAILS REVEALED, INCLUDING MORE ON TERA RAID BATTLES AND SPECIAL IN-GAME EVENTS

Bellevue, WA — November 8, 2022 — More details were revealed today about the highly anticipated Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, including more information about the Paldea Region and Tera Raid Battles. Updates to online play, compatibility with Pokémon HOME, and celebratory in-game events for Pokémon UNITE were also shared. You can watch the all-new trailer on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Celebrate the Release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet in Pokémon UNITE!

From November 18, 2022, to February 1, 2023, Pokémon UNITE will hold a special in-game event to commemorate the release of the latest games in the Pokémon franchise. Players will be able to receive Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet themed Trainer fashion items, stickers for their Unite snapshots, and more.

Starting January 1, 2023, those playing the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon UNITE that have save data from Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet will be able to receive an in-game Trainer fashion item that matches the look of the main characters from the new games!

The Scarlet Book and the Violet Book

The Scarlet Book, which will appear in Pokémon Scarlet, and the Violet Book, which will appear in Pokémon Violet, are expedition records that were written long, long ago. This expedition is said to have traversed an uncharted area of the Paldea region, but whether the accounts depicted in the books are true remains unclear.

Photographs and sketches of unidentified creatures fill the pages of both books. While there have been sightings of similar creatures in recent years, such reports are rare, and specific details of their biology are still a mystery.

image image

  • The Monster Known as Great Tusk
The Scarlet Book describes how this savage monster attacked the expedition team with its large body and tusks, mortally wounding one of the explorers.
  • The Monster Known as Iron Treads
It is said in the Violet Book that when this monster curls its body and rolls to attack, it leaves a trail gouged into the ground, as if it had scorched the earth.

Take On Black Crystal Tera Raid Battles

During their adventures, players may find black crystals that look different than the ones they’d ordinarily approach to take on a Tera Raid Battle. The Pokémon they’ll face at these black Tera Raid crystals are much stronger than those that appear in ordinary Tera Raid Battles and are only available for a limited time. Trainers that manage to successfully defeat these Pokémon can get rewards that are even more exciting than usual.

image image

  • Charizard with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing in black crystal Tera Raid Battles![1] This Charizard will be appearing during two time periods: first December 1–4, 2022; then again December 15–18, 2022. Charizard cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Charizard appearing during this event has Dragon as its Tera Type.
  • Players will be able to take on Tera Raid Battles at black crystals after completing certain postgame events. However, players who haven’t completed the event may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer by using a Link Code.

Special Tera Raid Battle Events Increase Your Chance of Encountering Certain Pokémon or Tera Types

After the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Tera Raid Battle events will allow players to take on specific Pokémon or encounter Pokémon with certain Tera Types more frequently. The Tera Raid crystals related to these events may look ordinary at first glance, but they are shrouded in a mysterious aura.

image image

The first of these Tera Raid Battle events will be the Eevee Spotlight held on November 24–27, 2022. During the event, Eevee with various Tera Types will appear more frequently in Tera Raid Battles![2]

Introducing a Newly Discovered Pokémon: Gimmighoul!

Revealed over the weekend, Gimmighoul—a Pokémon with two forms—has been discovered!

Gimmighoul (Chest Form)
These Gimmighoul hide inside sturdy treasure chests. While this provides them with a solid defense, the treasure chest’s weight causes Gimmighoul to move slowly, making travel difficult. It is not uncommon for Chest Form Gimmighoul to be mistaken for an antique and taken home or sold to an antique store.

When Gimmighoul senses a person or Pokémon drawing near, it ambushes them. It then uses ghost energy to control its target, forcing them to collect coins. Because it often hides in warehouses, shop corners, and other places that people and Pokémon don’t frequent, it tends to keep persistent control of those it manages to encounter.

Category: Coin Chest Pokémon
Type: Ghost
Height: 1' (0.3 m)
Weight: 11 lbs. (5.0 kg)
Ability: Rattled

Gimmighoul (Roaming Form)
This kind of Gimmighoul doesn’t hide in a treasure chest. It’s small, carries a single coin on its back, and can be found hiding all over Paldea. However, since they run away as soon as a person approaches, it seems not a single Trainer in Paldea has ever managed to catch one.

Pokémon HOME & Pokémon GO Compatibility

The latest Battle Stadium statistics from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will soon be viewable in the mobile device version of Pokémon HOME! From the app, players will be able to view information about Trainer rankings, frequently used Pokémon, Online Competitions, and more. Players will also be able to see what moves, Abilities, and held items are being used in battles. This update to Pokémon HOME’s Battle Data feature is slated for early 2023.

image image image

Compatibility between Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and Pokémon HOME is slated for spring 2023. After players have linked either title to Pokémon HOME, they’ll be able to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to Pokémon HOME and bring select Pokémon from past games to the Paldea region.[3]

It has also been confirmed that linking Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to Pokémon GO will allow players to receive Gimmighoul (Roaming Form) in Pokémon GO![4]

Receive Special Rotom Phone Cases in Your Game!

Players with save data from the Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shining Pearl, Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! games can receive a Rotom Phone case corresponding to its respective game in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.[5]

Zoroark is a Speedster that can dash into battle, dance around opponents, and then disappear without a trace. Discover what this tricky Pokémon can do in Pokémon UNITE on October 27th, 2022 when it joins the game!

YouTube Clip - Zoroark Character Spotlight | Pokémon UNITE

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjYRkAzH3GU

The Illusion Fox Pokémon, Zoroark, Is Now Available in Pokémon UNITE

Sneak into battle with a Melee Speedster that can take on the appearance of other Pokémon.

Trick your opponents and treat them to mayhem with Zoroark in Pokémon UNITE! This Melee Speedster from the Unova region is ready to surprise the competition and take over Aeos Island. You can obtain Zoroark for 14,000 Aeos coins or 575 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop. Zoroark will only be obtainable with Aeos gems as part of a Holowear bundle (for 1,625 gems) for the first seven days of its release.

Read on to learn more about everything Zoroark has to offer and to pick up a few tips before battling on Aeos Island.

Zoroark Basics

Zoroark begins each match as Zorua, but it evolves into Zoroark at Lv. 5. Both Zorua and Zoroark’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing increased damage. Zorua and Zoroark also share the Ability Illusion. When either Pokémon uses this Ability, the Pokémon takes the form of a random wild Pokémon or Pokémon from the opposing team. The Pokémon returns to its original form when it takes damage or uses a basic attack or move. Surprise your opponents with some classic disguise trickery!

Lv. 1 & 3 Moves

Slash - The user dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon.

Fury Swipes - The user dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. If Fury Swipes hits an opposing Pokémon, for a short time, it can be used again.

Lv. 5 Moves

Night Slash - Night Slash changes Zoroark’s normal movement to dash attacks for a short time. After Zoroark performs a dash attack, its next basic attack becomes a special boosted basic attack. Then, after that special boosted basic attack (or another move) hits an opposing Pokémon, Zoroark’s next movement becomes a dash attack again, and so on. Night Slash’s effect duration is limited, but after each time Zoroark hits with a dash attack, a special boosted basic attack, or another move, the duration resets.

If Zoroark moves when unable to do a dash attack, Night Slash’s effect duration immediately ends. During Night Slash, if Zoroark hits opposing Pokémon with a combined total of six dash attacks and special boosted basic attacks (or other moves), Zoroark will jump into the air and then land with a slash in a set area of effect, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. If this slash attack hits opposing Pokémon, Zoroark recovers HP. While jumping, Zoroark is able to use Shadow Claw or Cut to move a set distance. Night Slash can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.

Feint Attack - Zoroark dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and reducing all of its move cooldowns. If Feint Attack hits an opposing Pokémon, the dash’s start point is marked for a short time, and Zoroark is able to use Feint Attack again. If Feint Attack is used again, the new dash’s start point is marked, and Zoroark dashes back toward the previous one, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits along the way. As long as a point is marked, if Zoroark uses certain moves other than Feint Attack, the point where the move was used becomes the new marked point.

If Zoroark hits opposing Pokémon four times with either Feint Attack or certain other moves without interrupting the chain of marking, the next use of Feint Attack changes. If this changed Feint Attack is used, Zoroark leaps at the designated opposing Pokémon and deals damage to it before landing in a designated direction. Feint Attack can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.

Lv. 7 Moves

Shadow Claw - Zoroark dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and leaving them unable to act for a short time. If Shadow Claw hits an opposing Pokémon near the dash’s end point, that Pokémon will be thrown instead of left unable to act. Shadow Claw can be upgraded to increase the length of time opposing Pokémon are thrown.

Cut - Zoroark dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and restoring its own HP. Cut can be upgraded to increase the amount of HP it restores.

Zoroark’s Unite Move, Nightfall Daze - Zoroark releases three dark shock waves with increasing areas of effect, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. Zoroark is immune to hindrances while releasing shock waves.

Metagame Watch

Zoroark joins a steadily growing class of powerful Speedsters in Pokémon UNITE, and it may even be the most mobile of them all. Night Slash and Feint Attack both provide numerous opportunities for Zoroark to zip around during battle, changing targets and dealing damage in ways similar to both Lucario and Tsareena. Shadow Claw and Cut don’t provide as much mobility, but they’re crucial for getting the most out of Night Slash or Feint Attack, as they extend Zoroark’s ability to combine moves and deal damage. Keep their cooldowns in mind as you chase down targets.

Strong Against: Espeon

Espeon is a powerful Ranged Attacker that benefits from evolving early in battle, at Lv. 4—just like fellow Eevee Evolutions Sylveon and Glaceon. Espeon can do plenty of damage from a distance, but once a Pokémon gets close to Espeon, Espeon can have trouble keeping it away without the strength of Stored Power or Psybeam, which are weak up close. With Night Slash and Feint Attack as strong gap-closing options—and with Espeon having relatively low HP—Zoroark has little issue knocking Espeon out.

Weak Against: Clefable

Clefable’s Gravity negates most of Zoroark’s mobility and makes it difficult for just about any Speedster to pursue enemy Pokémon. If Clefable times Gravity to interrupt Zoroark’s Night Slash or Feint Attack, it can even leave Zoroark unable to act for a short time. As Zoroark, it’s best to avoid Clefable in team fights—or wait out its key cooldowns before launching your attack.

A student from the Paldea region just uploaded this footage of their search for Ghost-type Pokemon. Meet the Ghost Dog Pokémon, whose spooky cry can be heard in the Paldea region. Its cry may sound spooky, but Greavard is actually quite friendly.

A NEW POKÉMON DISCOVERED IN PALDEA—GREAVARD, THE LOVABLE SUBSURFACE LURKER—HAS BEEN REVEALED!

A paranormal occurrence was caught on camera and teased this week on the official Pokémon social channels, and now its cause has been unearthed! This week, the Pokémon Company International introduced a lovable new Pokémon found in the Paldea region of the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games: Greavard, the Ghost Dog Pokémon!

Greavard

Normally, Greavard barely moves, resting peacefully underground. It pokes the topmost part of its head above ground and lights an eerie glow at its tip, then waits for someone to approach. When a person draws near, Greavard jumps out of the ground while letting out a spooky cry that would startle most unsuspecting people—though it doesn’t appear to do this with ill intent.

Greavard has such a friendly and affectionate personality that paying it even the slightest bit of attention will make it so overjoyed that it will follow Trainers wherever they go. Of all the Pokémon residing in the Paldea region, it is known to be especially easy to befriend.

However, Greavard will slowly and inadvertently absorb the life-force of those around it, so it’s best not to play with it too much. What’s more, it also has powerful jaws that can shatter bones. A single bite from Greavard can be grievous—so Trainers are advised to approach it with caution.

Greavard will appear in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, launching November 18, 2022, exclusively on Nintendo Switch™ systems.

Read on to learn more about everything Clefable has to offer in Pokémon UNITE’s latest update—and to pick up some tips before disarming the competition on Aeos Island!

Clefable Basics

Clefable begins each match as Clefairy, but it will evolve into Clefable at Lv. 4. The Pokémon’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing increased damage. Clefairy and Clefable both have the Magic Guard Ability, which grants the Pokémon a shield when it restores an ally Pokémon’s HP. The strength of this shield is proportional to the amount of HP restored.

Lv. 1 & 2 Moves

Heal Pulse - Clefairy immediately restores HP to itself and nearby ally Pokémon.
Disarming Voice - The user lets out a charming cry, dealing damage to nearby opposing Pokémon and decreasing their movement speed for a short time.

Lv. 4 Moves

Moonlight - Clefable continually restores HP to itself and nearby ally Pokémon for a short time. Clefable’s movement speed is increased while Moonlight is active. Moonlight can be upgraded to widen its area of effect and increase its effects’ duration.
Draining Kiss - Clefable attacks nearby opposing Pokémon with an energy-draining kiss. Each opposing Pokémon hit by the kiss receives damage and releases an air kiss. These air kisses will travel to Clefable’s nearby ally Pokémon with the lowest HP and restore that Pokémon’s HP. If no ally Pokémon are near Clefable, the air kisses will return to Clefable and restore its HP. Draining Kiss can be upgraded to widen its area of effect and increase the amount of HP it restores.

Lv. 6 Moves

Gravity - Clefable creates a gravity zone centered on itself that persists for a set amount of time. Inside the gravity zone, Clefable’s basic attacks change and deal increased damage. Opposing Pokémon in the gravity zone have their movement speed decreased, with this movement speed-decreasing effect becoming stronger whenever a set amount of time passes. These opposing Pokémon are also unable to use dash moves. If an opposing Pokémon attempts to enter the gravity zone with a dash move, the dash move is stopped and that Pokémon is left unable to act for a short time. Gravity can be upgraded to the widen its area of effect and increase its effects’ duration.
Follow Me - Clefable moves to the designated location while waving its finger, drawing the attention of opposing Pokémon it touches and opposing Pokémon near the designated location. Affected opposing Pokémon are forced to approach Clefable for a short time and attack it with their basic attacks. When Follow Me is used, Clefable receives a shield effect. Follow Me can be upgraded to increase Clefable’s Defense and Sp. Def when the move is used.

Clefable’s Unite Move, Wonder Wish

Clefable waggles its finger, restoring HP to ally Pokémon in the area of effect. The lower an ally Pokémon’s HP is, the more HP Wonder Wish restores to that ally. Afterward, Clefable gets a random move that it can perform by using its Unite Move again within a set amount of time. Note: Some random moves will activate immediately.

Metagame Watch

Clefable joins the Pokémon UNITE roster as one of the most unique Supporter Pokémon, offering a healthy balance of opponent disruption and ally healing. Both Moonlight and Draining Kiss provide powerful area-of-effect healing in team fights, while Gravity and Follow Me can hinder anyone trying to get onto ally carries with low durability. A moveset featuring Draining Kiss and Follow Me allows Clefable to go on the offensive when necessary but also provides plenty of utility when it needs to protect its allies, making the Pokémon a solid double threat. Wonder Wish is also a powerful wild card for Clefable, allowing the Supporter to dish out some quick damage depending on the move.

Strong Against: Dodrio
Speedsters hate being locked down by hindrances, and Clefable has plenty of options for stopping a rampaging Dodrio in its tracks. Gravity can directly negate Dodrio’s Jump Kick as well as the dash from its boosted attacks—and it makes Dodrio unable to act for a short time, allowing Clefable’s teammates to take it down a notch. Follow Me doesn’t have the same hindrance potential as Gravity, but forcing Dodrio to attack Clefable is another way to keep its sprint gauge from charging.

Weak Against: Mew
Mew is one of the most powerful Ranged Attackers in Pokémon UNITE. Between its long-range Solar Beam and the seemingly endless mobility granted by Agility, Mew is a difficult Pokémon for Clefable to lock down. If at any point Clefable attempts to target Mew with Follow Me and fails to chain hindrances with its allies, Clefable has few options left against Mew’s superb damage and movement potential.
