Meet Farigiraf!
As a result of its Evolution, the head of its main body and the head from its tail have become one. Both of Farigiraf’s brains are connected through thick nerves, increasing its psychic energy, and it can emit psychic waves from the antennae on its head. Farigiraf is always mindful of its surroundings, and while it can detect danger in an instant, there are times when its body cannot react as fast as its two brains can think.
Farigiraf’s Ability, Cud Chew, is a new Ability appearing for the first time in these titles. When a Pokémon with Cud Chew eats a Berry, it will eat it one more time at the end of the next turn. Armor Tail is another new Ability appearing for the first time in these titles. It makes opposing Pokémon unable to use priority moves.

New Ways to Spend Quality Time with Pokémon - Picnics
Players can have picnics almost anywhere when out exploring the region’s vast wildernesses, along with being able to change the designs of the tablecloth, cups, water bottles, and other picnic items to create an arrangement of their liking. When Pokémon eat sandwiches, not only will their HP be restored, but the meal may impart some effects that will come in handy on adventures!
All kinds of sandwiches can be made at a picnic! Before beginning, players can choose which fillings and condiments they’ll want to use, as well as a sandwich pick that’ll help hold it all together. Once ready, players will need to arrange the ingredients on the bread, stacking them carefully. If not balanced properly, it might accidentally cause the ingredients to topple over or fall off the bread entirely.
Players can also enjoy picnics with friends while playing together through the Union Circle[1]. They just need to simply approach another player’s picnic while playing together with friends to join.
Take Care of Pokémon by Washing Them!
In these titles, when a Pokémon walks alongside the player or battles, it can get grimy and dirty. By washing Pokémon at a picnic, not only will they get clean, but their HP will be restored and their bond with their Trainer will become stronger.
Introducing the TM Machine, a Handy Device That Can Make TMs
A Technical Machine (or TM for short) is a tool that allows Pokémon to learn new moves. In these titles, there is a piece of equipment installed at every Pokémon Center called a TM Machine, which allows Trainers to make their own TMs. TMs can be made using League Points (LP for short) and materials dropped by wild Pokémon after battle. LP can be obtained as players advance the story or by trading in materials from Pokémon.
The selection of TMs available to make grows as players continue their adventure. A single TM can only be used once, but with enough LP and the right materials from Pokémon, players can make as many as they’d like.
[1] NOTE: To have picnics with other players via the internet or local communication, players may need to have the latest version of the game installed. A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to have picnics with other players via the internet.

The Pincer Pokémon Scizor Is Now Available in Pokémon UNITE
Scizor is prepared to pincer the competition in Pokémon UNITE. With the potential to utilize either Scyther’s free-flowing style or Scizor’s hardened steel exoskeleton, this Pokémon is sure to turn heads on Aeos Island. You can obtain Scizor for 14,000 Aeos coins or 575 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop.
Read on to learn more about everything this Pokémon has to offer and to pick up a few tips before battling on Aeos Island.
Scyther and Scizor Basics
Scizor begins each match as Scyther, but unlike most Pokémon in Pokémon UNITE, it can choose to remain unevolved. If Scyther learns the move Dual Wingbeat at Lv. 5, it will remain as Scyther for the remainder of the match. If Scyther learns the move Bullet Punch at Lv. 5, it will instead evolve into Scizor for the remainder of the match. For Scyther, Speed and damage are the name of the game, while for Scizor, it’s durability.
Scyther’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing additional damage and increasing Scyther’s movement speed for a short time. Scizor’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, decreasing the movement speed of opposing Pokémon when it hits and increasing Scizor’s Defense for a short time. This Defense increase can stack. Scyther and Scizor both share the Ability Technician: After the Pokémon uses a move, its next basic attack will change and deal two consecutive basic attacks instead. The second of these deals decreased damage.
Lv. 1 & 3 Moves
Fury Cutter
Scyther slashes twice with its scythes in a cone in front of itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. The second slash deals more damage than the first.
Quick Attack
Scyther dashes forward, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it makes contact with along the way.
Lv. 5 Moves
Dual Wingbeat
Scyther slashes in front of itself with both of its scythes, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in an X-shaped area of effect. If Dual Wingbeat deals damage to an opposing Pokémon in the center of the X-shaped area of effect, it restores Scyther’s HP. If Dual Wingbeat hits an opposing Pokémon, it can be used again within a set amount of time. If Dual Wingbeat is used again, Scyther dashes in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it makes contact with. The dash deals more damage the lower the opposing Pokémon’s HP is. Dual Wingbeat can be upgraded to increase its damage.
Bullet Punch
Scizor dashes in a designated direction and strikes opposing Pokémon with tough punches. If Bullet Punch hits opposing Pokémon, its cooldown is reduced, and Scizor recovers a portion of its HP based on the amount of damage dealt. If Bullet Punch is used again within a set amount of time, the number of punches and the amount of damage dealt increase. The number of punches increases from three to a maximum of five. Bullet Punch can be upgraded to grant Scizor a shield if the move hits an opposing Pokémon.
Lv. 7 Moves
Double Hit
The user jumps in a designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits during the jump and applying a mark to them. After the user hits opposing Pokémon with Double Hit, it jumps again in the designated direction. When the user lands, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack and it charges at a nearby opposing Pokémon. If a marked opposing Pokémon is knocked out, all of the user’s move cooldowns are reduced. Double Hit can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.
Swords Dance
The user dashes a short distance, increasing its Attack for a short time. While the user’s attack is increased, the user’s eighth basic attack becomes an area-of-effect attack that pierces through opposing Pokémon in a line. Swords Dance can be upgraded to reduce the damage the user receives from opposing Pokémon while dashing.
Scyther’s Unite Move, Green Illusion Dive
Scyther dashes and attacks a designated Pokémon on the opposing team, then creates five illusory copies of itself that each dash a set distance from Scyther. The copies deal damage to opposing Pokémon they make contact with and apply a mark to them. After a short time, the copies return to Scyther, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon they make contact with. Green Illusion Dive can be used again before the illusory copies return to Scyther. If it’s used again, Scyther dashes in the designated direction and deals damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. At the end of the dash, the copies dash to Scyther’s location. If a copy makes contact with an opposing Pokémon while dashing, the copy deals damage to that Pokémon and disappears. If a marked opposing Pokémon is knocked out, all of Scyther’s move cooldowns are reduced.
Scizor’s Unite Move, Red Illusion Dive
Scizor dashes before throwing consecutive punches at a designated Pokémon on the opposing team, decreasing that Pokémon’s movement speed. As the last punch is thrown, five illusory copies of Scizor are created that each dash a set distance from Scizor. If a copy hits an opposing Pokémon while dashing, it deals damage, decreases that Pokémon’s movement speed, then disappears. For a short time, Red Illusion Dive can be used again. If it’s used again, Scizor dashes in the designated direction and deals damage to opposing Pokémon it hits before punching the ground, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect. If Scizor hits a Pokémon on the opposing team while dashing, Scizor grabs that Pokémon and continues dashing. If the grabbed Pokémon hits an illusory copy, it will be left incapacitated.
Metagame Watch
Scyther and Scizor offer similar playstyles with slightly different flavors depending on whether you stay as the former or evolve into the latter. Scyther and Scizor are both quick, highly mobile Pokémon, but Scyther has even more mobility with Dual Wingbeat, while Scizor has more durability with Bullet Punch. Furthermore, Scyther’s boosted basic attack offers additional damage, while Scizor’s can raise its Defense.
Generally, Scyther is more powerful in matches where the opponent’s Pokémon lack hindrances that can interfere with its speed and the bonus damage it does with its boosted basic attacks. Scyther’s Unite Move also deals more damage than Scizor’s, making it more adept at taking down opposing Pokémon. Be careful, though—Scyther is less durable than Scizor.
In contrast, Scizor’s Unite Move deals less damage, but it can stun an opposing Pokémon, making it a powerful disruptive tool that indirectly increases Scizor’s durability. Scizor’s ability to raise its Defense with its boosted basic attacks—as well as heal itself with Bullet Punch—only adds to its durability. If you need more HP to stay in the fray, Scizor is a strong play.

Press Release - ED SHEERAN TEAMS UP WITH POKÉMON FOR NEW SONG AND VIDEO
“Celestial” Recorded for Upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Video Games
Bellevue, WA – September 29, 2022 – The stars have aligned as Pokémon mega-fan and international music superstar, Ed Sheeran, has collaborated with The Pokémon Company group on a new song, “Celestial”. His special track will appear in the highly-anticipated video games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, launching November 18 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles. Fans can get an early listen and enjoy the music video for the song which launches today on Ed’s official YouTube channel.
The “Celestial” video is inspired by Ed’s childhood fascination with the franchise and features some of his favorite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Machamp, Snorlax, and more. It follows a typical day in Ed’s life with a Pokémon twist and was directed by the award-winning Yuichi Kodama. Featuring a unique ‘sketch’ themed art direction from Yu Nagaba, whose style is reminiscent of the doodles that Ed drew of his Pokémon as a child, the video is full of surprises for fans to discover and transports viewers back to a simpler time in their childhood when the sky was the limit.
“I’ve played Pokémon since I was in primary school,” commented Ed. “Me and my brother used to have different versions of the games and would trade Pokémon together ‘til we each completed our Pokédex. I loved the cards but the games are what I lost myself in. I loved the whole world they created; it kept me distracted if there was negative stuff happening in my life/school that I wanted to avoid. It was a world I could escape into and I’ve played it ever since. Even though I'm 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Color and play Pokémon Yellow or Pokémon Silver on planes and trains when I'm on tour. It’s such an honor to add a song into a Pokémon game and shoot a nostalgic video too. I hope you guys enjoy the song and video - it was a blast to film!”
“Working with a superstar like Ed has been a dream come true for us at Pokémon,” added Kenji Okubo, President of The Pokémon Company International. “We are all such big fans of his and, not only was he a joy to work alongside, his authentic love of everything Pokémon really shines through. Yuichi Kodama has done a fantastic job of capturing a feeling of pure childlike joy and sense of adventure within the video too. Both of their genuine adoration for Pokémon makes this a truly special collaboration and we can't wait to see Pokémon fans and music fans singing along to Celestial. I hope everyone is also looking forward to enjoying the track later this year in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games.”

A DIGLETT THAT DWELLS IN THE SEA?! NOT QUITE! DISCOVER WIGLETT, A BRAND-NEW POKÉMON DISCOVERED IN PALDEA!
Bellevue, WA — September 29, 2022 — The Pokémon Company International has revealed details about a newly discovered Pokémon found in the Paldea region of the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games: Wiglett, the Garden Eel Pokémon! It may look like Diglett, but it’s really a completely different species of Pokémon!
Wiglett
Boasting an exceptional sense of smell, Wiglett is able to pick up scents from over 60 feet away. It has a skittish disposition and is constantly cautious of its surroundings. When it notices the scent of other Pokémon, Wiglett burrows into the sand to conceal itself.
Wiglett pokes a part of its body out of the sand to feed in the ocean. It’s still unclear what the rest of its body hidden in the sand is like or how long it might be. It’s said that Wiglett’s resemblance to Diglett might be a mere coincidence—a result of its adaptation to its environment.

Dodrio is now available in Pokémon UNITE. Triple the trouble means triple the fun! The Speedster Dodrio launched in Pokémon UNITE on September 14th, 2022!
YouTube Clip - Dodrio Character Spotlight | Pokémon UNITE
Triple Trample the Competition with Dodrio in Pokémon UNITE
Dodrio is sprinting over to Aeos Island and getting ready to join your team in Pokémon UNITE. With powerful beak attacks and a unique scoring Ability, this Speedster proves that three heads are better than one. You can obtain Dodrio for 14,000 Aeos coins or 575 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop.
Read on to learn more about everything this Pokémon has to offer and to pick up a few tips before sprinting into battle on Aeos Island.
Dodrio Basics
Dodrio begins each match as Doduo, but it will evolve into Dodrio at Lv. 5. The Pokémon’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing consecutive blows with each of the Pokémon’s heads. When the Pokémon’s sprint gauge is full, its basic attacks will have it charge in the direction it’s facing and consume all of the sprint gauge. If this charging attack hits opposing Pokémon, all of the user’s move cooldowns are reduced.
Doduo and Dodrio both have the Run Away Ability. The Pokémon’s movement speed increases when opposing Pokémon are nearby. While the Pokémon is moving, its sprint gauge charges. When its sprint gauge is full, the Pokémon starts running with increased movement speed. If the Pokémon’s movement speed decreases below a set speed, the sprint gauge will rapidly deplete. When Doduo scores a goal, it evenly divides its collected Aeos energy into two portions and deposits them into the goal one at a time. After Doduo evolves into Dodrio, when it scores a goal, it evenly divides its collected Aeos energy into three portions and deposits them into the goal one at a time.
Lv. 1 & 2 Moves
Peck
Doduo moves forward while jabbing with its beaks. When the sprint gauge is full, Doduo instead charges forward while jabbing with its beaks. Using Peck fully consumes the sprint gauge.
Quick Attack
Doduo dashes forward, increasing its movement speed for a short time and dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. Quick Attack’s cooldown is reduced if it hits opposing Pokémon.
Lv. 5 Moves
Tri Attack
Dodrio attacks with its beak in a cone in front of itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and applying one of the following random effects: a decrease to Attack and damage over time for a set amount of time, a decrease to basic attack speed, or a decrease to movement speed. When Dodrio’s sprint gauge is full, Dodrio instead shoots out three projectiles—one red, one yellow, and one blue—in the designated direction. If a projectile hits an opposing Pokémon, the projectile deals damage and applies one of the aforementioned effects based on its color. After Tri Attack is used, Dodrio’s next basic attack deals additional damage and restores some of Dodrio’s HP. A maximum of two uses can be kept in reserve for Tri Attack. When Tri Attack is upgraded, Dodrio’s next basic attack after using Tri Attack restores more HP. When Dodrio’s sprint gauge is full, Tri Attack’s cooldown is reduced.
Drill Peck
Dodrio moves forward while striking with its sharp beaks multiple times, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. When Dodrio’s sprint gauge is full, Dodrio dashes forward while striking with its sharp beaks multiple times, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and shoving them. Using Drill Peck fully consumes the sprint gauge. Drill Peck can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown. Also, when the upgraded Drill Peck hits opposing Pokémon, it restores a portion of Dodrio’s HP based on the amount of damage dealt.
Lv. 7 Moves
Agility
Dodrio becomes immune to hindrances and charges its sprint gauge. Afterward, Dodrio’s movement speed increases for a short time, and its sprint gauge charges faster. Agility can be upgraded so that after it’s used, Dodrio’s sprint gauge becomes fully charged.
Jump Kick
Dodrio leaps forward while kicking. If Jump Kick makes contact with an opposing Pokémon or obstacle, Dodrio leaps over it and stomps the ground when it lands, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and decreasing their movement speed for a short time. If Jump Kick makes contact with an opposing Pokémon or obstacle, Dodrio’s sprint gauge charges. If Jump Kick makes contact with an opposing Pokémon, its cooldown is reduced. If Jump Kick is upgraded, then when Dodrio stomps the ground after leaping, opposing Pokémon in the area of effect are left unable to act.
Dodrio’s Unite Move, Triple Trample
Dodrio runs to a designated location. While running, Dodrio is immune to hindrances. If Dodrio makes contact with opposing Pokémon while running, it deals damage to them and throws them into the air. When Dodrio arrives at the designated location, its Attack increases for a short time, and it is granted a shield. Dodrio’s sprint gauge also charges faster for a short time.
Metagame Watch
Dodrio is the first Speedster coming to Pokémon UNITE since Absol, Gengar, Talonflame, and Zeraora debuted with the game’s launch, and it offers a unique playstyle. Between Drill Peck, Agility, Jump Kick, and its Unite Move—Triple Trample—Dodrio has plenty of tools to get in and out of fights with ease while sowing some mayhem along the way. Drill Peck in particular can disrupt opponents by shoving them away from or into your teammates to secure key knockouts—making Dodrio especially unique as a Speedster that offers defensive disruption.
Strong Against: Decidueye
Decidueye excels at raining damage down from a distance with its powerful Spirit Shackle but is famously known to struggle against Pokémon that can run it down. Dodrio’s Triple Trample and Jump Kick are both excellent moves that help it close distance, allowing it to finish off Decidueye with Drill Peck. Regardless of whether Dodrio gets the knockout, forcing Decidueye to reposition is a win for Dodrio and its teammates.
Weak Against: Snorlax
Dodrio can run circles around most Pokémon on Aeos Island, but Snorlax’s Block stops the Triple Bird Pokémon in its tracks. Whether Snorlax uses Block to protect its allies or to shuffle Dodrio toward its own team, it will be tough for Dodrio to respond without the freedom of its legs. Snorlax’s Heavy Slam adds to the pressure from Block, potentially throwing Dodrio into the air for a whole second afterward.
