Play! Pokémon Team Challenge—Season 3

Play! Pokémon Team Challenge—Season 3 is a Pokémon TCG tournament where players will play to form a four-person team representing their local game store to compete for prizes and glory! The tournament is open to Masters Division players (players in Brazil must be 18 years or older).

This season of Team Challenge will be played both online and in stores. Online matches will be held through the Pokémon TCG Online and hosted by tournamentcenter BVBA. In-store matches will take place in regions that are open for Play! Pokémon events. Please refer to the official Play! Pokémon COVID-19 requirements, and stay connected with your friends and your gaming community while staying safe!

You can register to play at www.tournamentcenter.gg starting January 7, 2022. You can also visit www.tournamentcenter.gg/team-challenge to check for weekly event coverage.

Team Challenge Structure

The Team Challenge—Season 3 kicks off January 15, 2022, and will run through fall 2022, giving participants plenty of time to compete and advance.

In the first stage that begins January 15, individual retailers will host Qualifier tournaments in store (where available) and via the Pokémon TCG Online. The winners from each of these individual tournaments will form a team as representatives of their store. This Qualifier round is expected to conclude on May 8, 2022.

Once the teams are in place for each store, they will compete against other Store Teams in an elimination bracket. Each bracket match will be a 3v3 round-robin competition; the team that earns five or more wins will advance to the next round. Initially, teams will play other stores from their city, and then will be reseated at regional, national, and global levels if they progress. This round will also take approximately 10 weeks.

The Team Challenge culminates in the Grand Finals between the top two Store Teams.

Player and Store Eligibility

The Team Challenge—Season 3 is open to Masters Division players (born in 2004 or earlier, or age 18 and over in Brazil) who have a Pokémon Trainer Club account and valid Pokémon Player ID. Stores that host Play! Pokémon events are eligible to host a team for this event.

Stores and players from the following regions/countries are eligible to participate in the Team Challenge—Season 3:

  • North America: Canada, United States of America (including Puerto Rico)
  • Europe: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Alan Shirahama - on my way to Glory

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ay8PV-NBNs

COMMENT
To be given an opportunity to arrange Pokémon game music like this is such a fulfilling and wild experience for me. My younger self would have been overjoyed by the very idea. I like my beats to roll with a story-like structure and momentum, so I started off by conceptualizing how a Pokémon Trainer's everyday life would play out. The music begins with a laid-back mood in the Pokémon Center, which then transitions to a heated Trainer battle where the struggle to stay in the fight adds to the feeling of tension and excitement, and so forth. Hope you enjoy.

PROFILE
Alan Shirahama is a performer who made his debut in November 2012 as a member of "GENERATIONS", one of the most popular dance & vocal groups in Japan today. Alan became a member of the group "EXILE" in 2014. Alan's creativity and talent have no limits. In 2015, he started his career as a DJ and joined a creative music unit PKCZ®. Alan's style includes elements of Bass Music, Trap and Dubstep. He also cultivate his affinity for Hip Hop, Pop, House, and Disco through his love for dance. As a multi-talented artist... a DJ, trackmaker, actor, and singer... Alan is expected to make his way in the world.

Hyadain - Gyarados!

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq1Vssp-D7g

COMMENT
I mean, come on, you get full free access to the entire collection of original sound data from Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, and be able to mix and match them to your heart's content? Count me in!

When I thought about Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, a quick trip down memory lane took me back to the scene with the special report, "Search for the Red Gyarados!" featured on the TV early in the game. And just like that, my passion for Gyarados really exploded.

This Pokémon bears the handy "Intimidate" Ability, and even "Moxie" which I think is quite slick. Its Attack stat is certainly up there, but its Special Attack value isn’t too bad either. The Mega Evolved form is jaw-dropping to gaze at.

Sure, Gyarados is vulnerable to Electric-type moves, but that is nothing compared to the countless times this Pokémon saved me in close battles. All this nudged me towards crying out its name the way I did in my music.

I sprinkled in all sorts of sampled in-game sounds into the mix for your ears to spot, but it was far from exhausting the vast variety of assets provided in "Pokémon DP Sound Library". With all this material to work off of, I'm excited to see what kind of arrangement other artists will compose. To all Pokémon Trainer musicians out there! GYARADOS!!

PROFILE
Hyadain is a Japan-based composer / arranger / lyricist who has written and produced a wide array of songs for J-POP artists and idol groups on one end, and anime and games on the other. His music career began with a piano at the age of three, which eventually led to his break into the professional scene in 2007 through sampling video game music, among other works. Today, Hyadain is active in multiple playing fields, including making regular appearances on Pokémon television shows.

Dragonite Is Now Available in Pokémon UNITE. Add a Melee All-Rounder to your UNITE team with a draconic powerhouse leveraging the power of fire, water, electricity, and dance in its attacks.

image

Dragonite Dances Its Way into Pokémon UNITE

Rampage through the competition in Pokémon UNITE with Dragonite, now available to join your team. This Pokémon is a Melee All-Rounder, and it’s ready to unleash twisters, comets, fire, water, and electricity on the competition. Dragonite begins each match as Dratini, but it will evolve into Dragonair at Lv. 5 and Dragonite at Lv. 8.

The basic attacks for all three Pokémon—Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite—are boosted with every third attack, and they reduce the cooldown period for the Pokémon’s other moves. In addition, the basic attacks have certain effects that differ as the Pokémon evolves in battle.

Dratini’s boosted basic attack blasts water in front of Dratini. This water attack deals damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and has the additional benefit of restoring Dratini’s HP when it hits. Dragonair’s boosted attack alternates between a water attack and an electric attack with each use. If the water attack hits, it triggers the same additional effect as Dratini’s boosted basic attack. If the electric attack hits, it leaves the opposing Pokémon unable to act for a short time.

Finally, Dragonite’s boosted attack adds a little heat to the rotation—it alternates between a water attack, an electric attack, and a fire attack (in that order) with every use. If the water or electric attacks hit, they trigger the same additional effects as Dragonair’s boosted basic attacks. If the fire attack hits, it deals additional damage to the opposing Pokémon.

Dratini and Dragonair’s Marvel Scale Ability increases their Defense when they are afflicted with a status condition. Then, when Dragonair evolves into Dragonite, the Ability switches to Multiscale, which reduces the damage Dragonite receives for a short time. The Ability goes on cooldown after being triggered.

Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite’s Moves

At Lv. 1 and Lv. 3, Dratini can learn Twister and Dragon Breath. Twister creates a twister and releases it in a designated direction, dealing damage to any opposing Pokémon it hits and reducing their movement speed for a short time. Dragon Breath has Dratini exhale a mighty gust in a designated direction. If the move hits an opposing Pokémon, Dratini’s next basic attack becomes a boosted attack.

At Lv. 5, Twister can be upgraded into one of two moves. Dragon Dance has Dragonair move to a designated location while performing a mystical dance, increasing Dragonair’s damage dealt, movement speed, and basic attack speed for a short time. During this brief period, when one of Dragonair’s basic attacks hits an opposing Pokémon, it reduces Dragon Dance’s cooldown. Each time Dragon Dance is used, Dragonair’s damage dealt increases (up to three times maximum). When Dragon Dance is upgraded, it further increases Dragonair’s movement speed if there are opposing Pokémon nearby when the dance ends.

Extreme Speed has Dragonair leap at the designated opposing Pokémon and throw it, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and shoving them. Extreme Speed also decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokémon it hits for a short time. Using Extreme Speed resets Multiscale’s cooldown. Extreme Speed can be upgraded so that if Dragonair’s movement speed is decreased when it uses Extreme Speed, that movement speed decrease is negated before the move is used.

At Lv. 8, Dragon Breath can be upgraded into one of two moves. Hyper Beam has Dragonite aim at a designated opposing Pokémon, charge up power, and then unleash a beam of light that sweeps up the ground in a straight line. In addition to the beam’s base damage, Hyper Beam also deals additional damage to opposing Pokémon it hits equal to a set percentage of their max HP. Dragonite is left unable to act for a short time after using Hyper Beam. When upgraded, Hyper Beam reduces the damage Dragonite receives while using it, including when charging up power.

Outrage has Dragonite start rampaging, stomping the ground and dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect. Outrage also triggers the additional effect of the most recently used boosted basic attack once again. During the rampage, all of Dragonite’s basic attacks become special melee boosted attacks with increased attack speed. When the rampage ends, Dragonite is left unable to act for a short time. Outrage can be upgraded to reduce the duration of hindrance effects inflicted on Dragonite when it is rampaging.

Dragonite’s Unite Move, Draco Impact

Have a maximum impact with Dragonite’s Unite Move, Draco Impact, which it learns at Lv. 9. Draco Impact has Dragonite fly high into the air before crashing down with several comets on a designated area, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and throwing them. The farther Dragonite flies, the more the Unite Move gauge is consumed. While Draco Impact is being used, Dragonite become immune to hindrances.

Dragonite is ready to rampage through the competition. Fly over to the Unite Battle Committee shop to get Dragonite’s Unite license now.

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have revealed more details for the highly anticipated Pokémon Legends: Arceus game, including an all-new trailer. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released on Friday, January 28, 2022, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. It is currently available for preorder.[1] High resolution screenshots and artwork from the press release have been added to the Pokémon Legends Arceus Imageboard thread.

INTRODUCING THE DIAMOND AND PEARL CLANS OF THE POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS GAME

A New Trailer for the Highly Anticipated Game Launches Today

The Hisui Region’s Two Clans: The Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan In addition to being home to the Galaxy Expedition Team, two other groups reside in the Hisui region: the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan.

The people of the Diamond Clan often speak of the importance of cherishing the present and living in the moment with one’s allies. On the other hand, members of the Pearl Clan frequently advocate the importance of valuing the vast, spacious land shared with others.

Although the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan disagree on many of their beliefs, they seem to nevertheless share many similarities. Both clans don clothing designed to resemble certain Pokémon, and both pay respects to special Pokémon they call lords and ladies—or collectively, noble Pokémon. Moreover, both clans have wardens who serve these special Pokémon.

The Young Leaders in Charge of the Diamond and Pearl Clans

Image

Adaman
Adaman serves as the leader of the Diamond Clan and has Leafeon as his partner Pokémon. This daring young man hates to see time go to waste and likes to rush forward without worrying too much about particulars.

Image

Irida
Irida serves as the leader of the Pearl Clan, and her partner Pokémon is Glaceon. As a leader, she feels it is important to have the courage to face the vast Hisui region. Though she is suspicious when first meeting people, she will slowly come to trust the player thanks to the help they provide in quelling the noble Pokémon.

Introducing the Ginkgo Guild Merchants
A group of merchants known as the Ginkgo Guild also operates in the Hisui region. Not native to Hisui, members of the Ginkgo Guild travel around the various locations of the region, selling the wares they have gathered.

Add the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai to Your Team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Players with play records from the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl games will be able to take on a research request in Pokémon Legends: Arceus that will lead to an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai. They will also be able to claim the Modern Team Galactic Set.[2]

Image

Darkrai
It’s said this Pokémon is active during nights of the new moon and that it can lull people to sleep and make them have nightmares.

Category: Pitch-Black Pokémon
Type: Dark
Height: 4' 11'' (1.5m)
Weight: 111.3 lbs. (50.5 kg)

[1] Early purchasers of Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be gifted the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set and the Baneful Fox Mask. Players can receive these items by choosing Get via Internet from the Mystery Gifts feature in their game. These gifts can be claimed until Monday, May 9, 2022, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Players will need to connect their Nintendo Switch system to the internet to claim Mystery Gifts. To connect to the internet, the selected user profile must be linked to a Nintendo Account. (This does not require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.) It takes approximately two hours of play time before the Mystery Gifts feature is unlocked.

[2] The Modern Team Galactic Set includes the Modern Jacket, Modern Trousers, and Modern Shoes. Players will be able to claim these bonuses in Pokémon Legends: Arceus if they launch the game as a user with play records from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl. The request that allows players to encounter Darkrai will be available to accept in Jubilife Village after viewing the game’s end credits. Players can claim the Modern Team Galactic Set outfit by speaking to the clothier after joining the Galaxy Expedition Team. It takes approximately one hour of play time to reach the point where this option is available.

Hisuian Voltorb looks very similar to the Poké Balls of the Hisui region. This Pokémon is always in high spirits and has a friendly personality. However, it discharges its stored electricity when it gets excited, so it frequently shocks nearby humans and Pokémon. INTRODUCING THE HISUIAN FORM OF VOLTORB IN THE POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS GAME

BELLEVUE, WA—December 10, 2021—The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo introduced a newly discovered Pokémon, the Hisuian form of Voltorb, in an all-new trailer on the official Pokémon YouTube channel today.

Hisuian Voltorb

A Striking Resemblance to Poké Balls in Hisui
This enigmatic Pokémon has a glossy, spherical body. With the wood-grain-like makeup of its body's surface and the hole on the top of its head, it looks very similar to the Poké Balls of the Hisui region. There seem to be countless seeds packed inside Hisuian Voltorb. Occasionally, it spouts these seeds out of the hole in its head. However, no one knows exactly what it’s like inside the Pokémon’s body, because inside the hole, it’s pitch-dark.

Image

Category: Sphere Pokémon
Type: Electric/Grass
Height: 1'8" (0.5 m)
Weight: 28.7 lbs. (13 kg)

Instant Electrical Discharges
This Pokémon is always in high spirits and has a friendly personality. However, it can discharge stored electricity all at once and it frequently shocks humans and Pokémon in its vicinity. Even the slightest provocation can set this Pokémon off, so in human settlements, Hisuian Voltorb is considered a nuisance. Tales of people temporarily plugging the hole on Hisuian Voltorb’s head and kicking it out of settlements are not entirely uncommon.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus  will be released on Friday, January 28, 2022. It is currently available for  preorder.
