Sirfetch’d to Appear in Pokémon Sword
The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced a new Pokémon called Sirfetch’d which will appear in Pokémon Sword. The Pokémon had been teased about on the official site starting on September 12th, 2019 with a glitchy profile. It was then revealed that the glitchy promotion was due to a wild Rotom that entered the servers and was then corrected on September 18, 2019 when Sirfetch’d was officially revealed. High quality screenshots and artwork from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.
We have learned that the incident was caused by a mischievous wild Rotom that entered our servers, causing a temporary disruption to our website. Fortunately, our IT team members—skilled Pokémon Trainers in their own right—were able to convince the Rotom to leave our system and return to where it normally resides.
With that issue cleared up, we are now free to finally present detailed information about the newly discovered Pokémon found to appear in Pokémon Sword. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

A voracious eater—Cramorant is insatiable. When it comes to food, it will try to swallow anything it can fit in its mouth. Sometimes it will swallow things that aren’t its intended prey, spitting them out in a hurry once it realizes its mistake.
It never forgets its bond with its Trainer. Cramorant can be forgetful, but it will never forget a Trainer it grows to trust. However, it seems that even Trainers will face fierce attacks from their Cramorant if they try to steal its food.
Cramorant’s Ability, Gulp Missile, is a new Ability introduced in these titles, and it can be triggered during battles. After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, it will return with a catch in its mouth. If it takes damage while in this state, Cramorant will retaliate by spitting out its catch at the attacker!

Black tea with a distinct aroma and flavor. Polteageist’s body is made from black tea and is said to have a very distinct aroma and flavor. It will only allow a Trainer it trusts to sample its tea. However, drinking too much can lead to indigestion or an upset stomach, so be careful!
Pests for hotels and restaurants. Many Polteageist make their homes inside hotels and restaurants, disguising themselves and hiding among the tableware. They can pour their power into leftover tea and create even more of their kind, so they’re often treated as pests.
You can enjoy a Pokémon Camp almost anywhere anytime you’re exploring in the Galar region! If you ever feel like spending some time with the Pokémon in your party or cooking up a nice meal with them, then there’s no need to hesitate—in many cases, you can just set up camp right then and there!
Just give a call to any Pokémon that’s far away, and it’ll happily come to you!
You can also play with your Pokémon while camping. There are several toys that your Pokémon will enjoy—you can play with them using a Poké Toy or a variety of bouncing balls! Take some time to play with your Pokémon and get to know them better!
The first step to cooking up some curry is choosing the ingredients you want to add. The type of curry you’ll make will change depending on what ingredients and Berries you choose to put in.
You’ll need to fan the flames until they’re strong enough and then stir the pot just right to make the best batch of curry!
Once you’re done cooking, you and your Pokémon can dig in together! The ingredients you choose change the type of curry you’ll end up with. There are plenty of types of curry, so try to cook them all and complete your Curry Dex!
If you come across a tent while using local communication or when connected to the internet, it’s a sign that another player has set up their Pokémon Camp there. You can take one of your party Pokémon with you, so why not have a look and join their camp! Membership in the Nintendo Switch Online (paid) service is required for joining other players’ Pokémon Camps using an internet connection. You do not need to be have a membership to play with other players using local communication features.
When camping with other players, you can let your Pokémon play with their Pokémon, or you can cook up a big pot of curry and enjoy it together!
The Card Maker will give you a lot of freedom in editing your League Card—you’ll be able to change the background, the frame, your expression, your pose, and more!
You can trade League Cards with other players, and League Cards are displayed during Link Battles, too. Make one that’s really unique! You’ll be able to check all the League Cards you’ve received from others in your album.
One of the features available on the Y-Comm menu is the Surprise Trade. Select a Pokémon from your Boxes that you’re willing to trade, and that’s it! A trading partner will automatically be found as you continue on your adventure!

Press Release - New Nintendo Direct Highlights Next Wave of Games Coming to Nintendo Switch
Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield: New details (and two new Pokémon!) were revealed for the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games, launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 15.- Polteageist is a ghost-type Pokémon, and makes a home for itself by hiding among dishes at hotels and restaurants. Its body is made of tea, and it may even let a trusting Trainer have a taste of its tea. The flying- and water-type Pokémon Cramorant will swallow absolutely anything that looks hearty enough. It has an exclusive ability called Gulp Missile. While using Surf or Dive in battle, it will counter when attacked.
- Players will be able to travel through the new Galar region in style. In this game, players can outfit their main Trainer in tops, bottoms, outerwear, gloves, new hairstyles and even a little makeup. During their journey, players can camp any time at Pokémon Camp. While there, players can play with Pokémon and get to know them better. In the new Wild Area, players can visit other players’ camps as well. Up to four players and their Pokémon can hang out at a camp together. Pokémon Camp is also a great place to cook up some Curry on Rice. In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, there are many types of delicious Curry on Rice that can be registered to the Curry Dex.

Boutiques always have a wide selection of items, and they’ll be your go-to spots for trying on and buying new clothes. Boutiques can have outerwear, tops, gloves—you name it! You can mix and match styles in any way you want. Boutiques in different towns and cities have different items for sale, so keep your eyes open for that perfect outfit while you travel.
Head to a hair salon to get a haircut and a new look
Salons let you choose your haircut and hair color, style your eyebrows, or even swap out your color contacts! Spice up your adventure by changing your look to match your favorite outfit or the uniform you wear during your Gym Challenge!
Trading Pokémon is easy with Surprise Trades—you just never know who you might trade with!

New Anime Series "Pocket Monsters"
At the end of the SM137 broadcast on September 1st, 2019, a teaser trailer for a new anime series called "Pocket Monsters" was revealed. A new Twitter account for the series also launched.

A new Pokémon TV anime series will be broadcast! The title is “Pocket Monster”, the same as when the Pokémon anime broadcasts started in 1997!In this new series, all the regions of the world that have appeared in the game so far, from the Kanto Region to the Galar Region, are the stage for this adventure! "The new "Pocket Monsters" series that was announced today will of course be set in the Galar region from the video games "Pocket Monsters Sword/Shield", which will be released November 15th, but also in all the other regions that have appeared in the video games so far, including the Kanto region from the original "Red/Green" games and the Jouto region from the sequels "Gold/Silver".""Thus far, the series has changed its title every time a new video game has been released, but the new series title is going to be the same one it had when it debuted in 1997, "Pocket Monsters".
As this title indicates, while the story will of course be set in the Galar region, the setting of the new "Pocket Monsters" video games "Pocket Monsters Sword/Shield", it will also take place in all the other regions that have appeared in video games so far, including the Kanto region from "Pocket Monsters Red/Green" and the Jouto region from "Pocket Monsters Gold/Silver", and will feature the various Pokémon that live in these regions.

gamescom 2019 - A message from GAME FREAK's Shigeru Ohmori - Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield
gamescom 2019 is taking place in Cologne, Germany from August 20th, 2019 until August 24th, 2019. Although Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Director Shigeru Ohmori could not be in attendance to the convention due to working on the games. He did make a video showcasing some new scenes from a town in the Galar region though.

The 2019 Pokémon World Championships are over and the champions have been crowned. The location of the 2020 Pokémon World Championships was also announced during the closing ceremony on Sunday evening and it will be held in London, United Kingdom. High resolution pictures from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.
The Pokémon World Championships is an invitation-only event held in a different location every year, for which players can qualify by competing in various local, regional, and international tournaments. This year’s champions were awarded a one-of-a-kind Pokémon World Championships trophy, an invitation to the 2020 Pokémon World Championships, and a monetary prize in the form of a scholarship, cash prize, or Travel Certificate. The prize pool this year totaled more than $500,000.

Washington, DC—August 19, 2019—The 2019 Pokémon World Championships drew to a close yesterday following three days of intense matches and friendly competition in Washington, DC. The best Trainers from around the world attended the 16th annual event to take part in the premier tournament for Pokémon video games and the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). This year’s event featured the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon video games, as well as Pokkén Tournament DX. More than 7,000 players and fans from around the globe gathered in the nation’s capital at the world’s most prestigious Pokémon event.The Pokémon World Championships is an invitation-only event held in a different location every year, for which players can qualify by competing in various local, regional, and international tournaments. This year’s champions were awarded a one-of-a-kind Pokémon World Championships trophy, an invitation to the 2020 Pokémon World Championships, and a monetary prize in the form of a scholarship, cash prize, or Travel Certificate. The prize pool this year totaled more than $500,000.

New Pokémon Evolutions and information about the rivals that Trainers will face were also revealed. Some Pokémon have adapted to the unique environment of one specific region and do not look or behave like Pokémon of the same species found elsewhere. Regional forms of Pokémon can be found in Galar as well, where they’re known as Galarian forms.
Galarian Weezing

Galarian Weezing consumes polluted air and poisonous gases for sustenance. The by-product of this consumption is purified air, which is spewed out from the tops of its heads. It will taunt an opponent, goading it into attacking. When it does, Obstagoon will cross its arms and meet the oncoming attack with its Obstruct move. Obstagoon is especially skilled at throwing its opponents off guard and counterattacking with its sharp claws.

This causes its fur to change colors and triggers more aggressive and volatile behavior. The energy stored in its cheek sacs also changes from Electric type to Dark type. Morpeko’s Ability, Hunger Switch, is a new Ability that causes it to change its appearance each turn. Aura Wheel is Morpeko’s signature move, and it changes type depending on Morpeko’s form. Marnie

Bede
Bede is a rival who is skilled at Pokémon battles and has the pride to match. He has joined the Gym Challenge, having received his endorsement from Rose, the chairman of the Galar Pokémon League. While he clearly is aiming to become Champion, he seems to have other objectives as well.
Team Yell
Team Yell is a group of troublemakers who seem to appear everywhere and who attempt to get in the way at every opportunity. They want nothing more than for Marnie to become Champion, so they try to obstruct other challengers. They take over hotel lobbies, prevent challengers from accessing transportation, and even shout and distract opponents during battle. Whenever Marnie battles, these Team Yell Grunts are quick to appear, showing their support with Marnie-print towels and horns.
Poké Jobs Help Pokémon Grow
In the Galar region, people and Pokémon often work together. Corporations and universities request the help of Pokémon through Poké Jobs. Trainers can check for available Poké Jobs at the Rotomi in Pokémon Centers and will be able send Pokémon directly from their Boxes to any job they accept. Trainers will find that certain Pokémon types are suited for specific jobs. The experience gained while on the job will help Pokémon grow, and Trainers may even receive rare items as rewards.
You can check available Poké Jobs at the Rotomi in Pokémon Centers, and you’ll also be able to send Pokémon from your Boxes directly to any job you accept!

Pokémon GO - Team GO Rocket invades Pokémon GO!
Niantic has announced that Team GO Rocket has invaded PokéStops in Pokémon GO and that Raids will feature Pokémon that are believe to be significant to Team GO Rocket.
1. Encounter Team GO Rocket — Spark and Professor Willow have observed Team GO Rocket members hanging out at discolored PokéStops. It appears they’re after the PokéStops’ resources!
2. Battle Team GO Rocket — Once you begin the encounter with a Team GO Rocket Grunt, they’ll challenge you to a battle. We’re counting on you to accept their challenge and defeat them!
3. Catch the Shadow Pokémon — After a successful battle, you’ll have an opportunity to catch a Shadow Pokémon that Team GO Rocket carelessly abandoned. Candela and Professor Willow discovered that these Pokémon look unusual and behave strangely because Team GO Rocket tried to make them stronger through unnatural means. After additional research, Professor Willow has also found that Shadow Pokémon can’t be traded away by the Trainer who rescued them unless they’re Purified first!
4. Purify the Shadow Pokémon — Thanks to all your research, Blanche and Professor Willow have discovered a process called Purification. Not only does Purification help Shadow Pokémon return to a more normal state, but Purified Pokémon can also become stronger than their normal counterparts due to the gratitude they feel toward the Trainer who saved them!

Pokémon Masters - Starters Guide / Preview Version Demo / Release Date August 29th, 2019
The official Pokémon website posted a Pokémon Masters Starters Guide detailing information such as Leveling Up, Evolving, Battling Sync Pairs and Battle Tips. Also posted was videos on The Official Pokémon Masters YouTube Channel for many areas of the game.
A special preview version of the game will be available in Singapore on Android on July 24th, 2019 and in Canada fairly soon after. Progress in the preview version of the game can be transferred to the full game when it's released on August 29th, 2019.

In Pokémon Masters, you'll explore the artificial island of Pasio, teaming up with famous Trainers to compete in 3-on-3 battles that take place in real time as you work toward becoming the champion of the Pokémon Masters League (PML) tournament. Each Trainer has one trusted Pokémon they compete with—this partnership is known as a sync pair, and it's the foundation of every Pokémon Masters team. How to Play Pokémon Masters | Moves
Introducing Sync Pairs
Each sync pair has a level and six stats—HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. The stats function similarly to how they do in other Pokémon games—HP represents how healthy a Pokémon is; Attack determines the power of physical moves, which can be guarded against by Defense; Special Attack and Special Defense are the same for special moves; and Speed affects the rate the move gauge fills. Your sync pair's current strength is denoted by its level, which you can increase by earning Experience Points (XP) for completing battles. Each time a sync pair levels up, its stats will increase.Each sync pair also has a number of ★s associated with it that indicates its potential and determines its level cap. The first sync pairs to join your team, including the Main Character & Pikachu, are 3★ and max out at Lv. 30 initially. The strongest sync pairs are 5★ and can reach Lv. 40. You'll gain the ability to increase the level cap of your sync pairs early in the game. You can also increase their ★s using rare items, so eventually any sync pair can become 5★. Only a 5★ sync pair that has had its level cap fully unlocked can reach Lv. 100.
How to Play Pokémon Masters | Sync Pairs
Sync pairs start out with just two moves—usually a Pokémon attack and Trainer move. Using Pokémon moves in battle will deplete your move gauge, which will gradually recover over time. Trainer moves won't deplete the move gauge, but they can only be used a limited number of times each battle. Sync pairs can learn more moves with the help of certain items.
The usual type matchup chart from Pokémon video games doesn't apply in Pokémon Masters. Each sync pair instead has one or two type strengths and a single type weakness, and that weakness might be different even between sync pairs of the same type. Taking advantage of the opponent's weaknesses is key to winning battles in Pokémon Masters, you'll want to develop sync pairs of each type.
In addition to a type, each sync pair also has a role—strike, support, or tech. Strike sync pairs tend to have high Attack or Special Attack but lower HP. Support sync pairs are on the opposite end of the spectrum—they usually have higher HP, lower offensive stats, and typically learn moves that restore HP or increase their teammates' stats. Tech sync pairs tend to focus more on impacting the battle indirectly with tricky tactics like inflicting status conditions.
Developing Your Sync Pairs
There are several ways to increase the strength of your sync pairs, and with some effort, you can help any sync pair reach Lv. 100. You'll get XP each time you clear a battle, but helping your sync pairs reach their initial level caps is just the start of their training. Other training opportunities come when you use items, most of which can be earned by completing battles.Once you earn your first badge from a PML Leader, you'll receive special area info that unlocks the ability to extend your sync pair's level cap. You'll need to invest some items each time you do this, and the items you need will vary a little depending on the role of the sync pair you're enhancing. It'll require progressively more and rarer items each time you unlock a particular sync pair's level cap.
You can also help your sync pairs learn new moves and passive skills by talking to Trinnia at the café in the Pokémon Center. The first new move your sync pair learns will require only five Training Machines, an item you'll quickly amass a decent stockpile of. Learning subsequent moves and passive skills requires progressively rarer items in much greater quantities, and you'll need different items depending on the role of the sync pair you're enhancing.
To maximize your sync pairs' strength, you'll also need to scout more sync pairs. Scouting duplicate sync pairs will increase the strength of the original sync pair's sync move, and scouting duplicate sync pairs is also the path toward getting the rare items that can increase the ★s of your sync pairs.
Getting Items by Training
One of the ways to develop your sync pairs is to battle in the training area, which you'll discover early in the story. There are four different types of training areas—Level Up, Strike, Support, and Tech. Level-up courses will net you level-up manuals to immediately give a sync pair XP, while the latter three courses are a great source of the role-specific items that help your sync pairs learn new moves and passive skills. These courses can be done repeatedly to collect lots of items.Once your team gets more powerful, you can also do supercourse training. These more challenging courses can only be completed a certain number of times per day, but the rewards will be far greater than their regular equivalents. You can unlock higher difficulties of both supercourses and courses by defeating easier ones, and each difficulty of supercourse can be cleared three times each day.
Supercourses are likely to be your first opportunity to get rare items like Ultra Tech Tonic and Ultra Aid Ade, but your team will need to be pretty powerful to clear these battles. So try to build up your sync pairs enough to clear these battles for their rewards as soon as you can.
You can also exchange common versions of these items for more powerful versions at the shop. You'll need to trade 50 Great Buff Blends to get the much rarer Ultra Buff Blend, for example.
Evolving Pokémon in Pokémon Masters
You can strengthen certain sync pairs through Evolution! Human Trainers in the game can't evolve, but some of the Pokémon can evolve to make the sync pair stronger.The first sync pairs with Pokémon you can help evolve are likely to be those with first-partner Pokémon from past games, such as Barry and Piplup and Rosa and Snivy. Each of these sync pairs will need to be at least Lv. 30 to evolve the first time, at which point you'll obtain area info related to their Evolution. You'll also need Evolution materials, which you can purchase in the shop for 1,000 coins. Coins can be earned in the game several different ways.
You'll then need to complete a special battle unique to that sync pair. Be ready for a tough fight if you run off to battle the moment your sync pair reaches the minimum level required—the opponents in these bouts are no pushovers! If you win the battle, the Pokémon in that sync pair will evolve, becoming more powerful. Note that the sync pair will maintain its previous level even after the Pokémon evolves. You can keep trying until you succeed if you come up short. You'll need the Pokémon in some sync pairs to evolve fully before the duo can use their most powerful sync move, including both Barry & Piplup and Rosa & Snivy.

Battle Tips
Speaking of Rosa & Snivy (or Servine, or Serperior), the first 5★ sync pair to join your group is a great partner for the initial areas of the game. Many sync pairs learn a second Pokémon attack as their third move, but Rosa can learn Time to Energize! This powerful move immediately fills three slots of the move gauge, allowing you to fire off a quick volley of attacks that will get you launching sync moves in a hurry. Matching Rosa & Snivy with sync pairs that can exploit the weakness of your opponents will get you through the game's early battles in no time.Before you start a battle, you'll get a hint about your opponents' weaknesses to help you select your team. You can also select the Area Details button to get even more info, which sometimes include the type of strategies your opponents might employ. You'll have a much easier time if you bring Pokémon that can exploit the opposing side's weaknesses to each battle.
If you aren't sure which sync pairs to use—or you just want to get through a fight in a hurry—you can use the Optimize button when you're selecting your team to automatically use a line-up befitting the type weaknesses of the battle. You can even have your team fight automatically by tapping the Auto button once the battle begins!
There are some cool settings you can tweak when it comes to battles. Consider turning on the handy option to switch automatically to Auto Mode if you're idle too long—that way your team will be able to fight back if you get a little distracted. We particularly suggest turning on the feature that marks the order of upcoming actions, as this makes it much easier to follow the flow of battle.
Many areas have multiple battle encounters within them. Damage from one fight will carry over to the next, as will the remaining uses of Trainer moves. You'll only receive XP, coins, and items if you clear the area completely. If you succeed in clearing the encounter, however, those sync pairs that were knocked out along the way will still gain XP.
Parting Shots
There's a lot to learn about sync pairs and battling on Pasio, but you'll quickly get the hang of making your sync pairs stronger and stronger. In addition to improving the strength of your roster, there are a few other things to keep in mind as you're starting out.- Don't forget to log in each day to get log-in bonuses and to complete daily missions, which will net you some easy items. New days in the game start at 6:00 a.m. UTC, so make sure to get your rewards for daily missions before then! There are also general missions, which can be completed at any time and function as account-wide achievements.
- Once you complete chapter 5, you'll be able to participate in events, which often have their own event missions. You should definitely prioritize developing sync pairs that have an advantage in ongoing events so you don't miss out on the rewards.
- Each sync pair has a sync pair story that gives you some background about your new allies. They're a lot of fun, and you'll get some easy rewards for completing them, too. This is also where to go to evolve your Pokémon.
- Finally, it's a good stretch goal to work toward increasing the size of your move gauge. By default, it has four slots, but you can upgrade it twice by exchanging coins in the shop. It costs 30,000 coins for the first upgrade and 100,000 for the second.
