Pocket Monsters Platinum Sells almost a Million Copies in Two Days

LogoThe latest Pocket Monsters game was released in Japan on September 13th, and according to Famitsu's website, it sold 967,675 copies the first two days it was on sale. Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl had a combined sales of 1.58 million units during their debut week of September 28 through October 1, 2006. It will be interesting to see if Platinum will be able to top Dimaond and Pearl's first week record which Diamond sold 813,237 units, while Pearl moved an impressive 762,029 copies.

Dengeki has also confirmed that the game easily passed the million mark on the third day it was on sale, bringing the Nintendo DS list of million sellers in Japan to twenty-six titles.

According to IGN, "Pokemon itself announced the sales feat, citing figures from independent sales tracking firm Media Create. Full Media Create numbers for all software and hardware over the week will be released later this week." Famitsu's numbers were provided by it's parent company Enterbrain.

This weeks Pokémon Revival episode is Setting Off! From Futaba Town to Masago Town! (旅立ち!フタバタウンからマサゴタウンへ!). The first episode of the Diamond and Pearl series introduces a new main character named Hikari. On this day, she travels to Professor Nanakamado's laboratory and obtains her first Pokémon, a Pochama.

The Pokemon Sunday gang introduces the audience to the new Nintendo DS game, Pocket Monsters Platinum which is released in Japan today. They show and discuss some of the new elements in the game to promote its release.

Some concept art from Pocket Monsters Platinum was shown on today's episode of Pokémon Sunday. The pictures include: Ginga-dan, The Battle Frontier, the Frontier Brains, and the Rotom Key which is a special item that unlocks the Rotom's new forme's. Minna no Pokémon Bokujō Platinum Compatibility Update Announced

LogoIt was announced today on the official Minna no Pokémon Bokujō (My Pokémon Ranch) website that a Pocket Monsters Platinum compatibility update will be available by the end of the year. No set release date was announced.

Those that have the game already will be able to download the update for free when it's available. Those that don't own the current version will be able to download the updated version as well for 1000 Wii point.

Galactic Conquest TCG Expansion to be Released in Japan on October 10th

Information on the latest Japanese TCG expansion 'Galactic Conquest' (ギンガの覇道) has been announced on the official website. Booster packs will sell for 315 yen a piece, and an entry pack which is recommended for novice players will sell for 2000 yen. The entry pack will include Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia as part of the 30 card main deck.


Stores nationwide will also be carrying out a special promo. People that buy two Galactic Conquest expansion packs will receive one of five promo cards. Information on the promo cards will be announced at the end of September.

The official site has also posted scans and information on the new cards. Below are some of the new cards from Galactic Conquest. You can click on any of the cards to take you to the Japanese TCG Dex for the specific card.

LogoPokémon Platinum (Japanese: ポケットモンスター プラチナ Pocket Monsters Platina) is the next game in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl series. The game will be available for purchase in Japan on September 13, 2008. The game will feature Giratina as its mascot and introduce its Origin Forme , as seen in the 11th Movie, Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Shaymin. The new storyline will involve a disturbance atop Mt. Coronet, as a portal to the "Ruined World" (やぶれたせかい) is opened and Sinnoh's climate becomes colder. The trainers have been given new outfits to suit the colder climate.

In the game, there's a leaflet containing information regarding the new Pokémon forms. It confirms that they are Rotom as many predicted. The leaflet only reveals the first form. All the forms are accessible through the Secret Key after Rotom is captured at the Old Chateau and the formes it changes Rotom to depends on where you use the item. Below are pictures of the five new Rotom forme's.

As we reported the other day, the Sinnoh Dex has received an extra 59 Pokemon in Platinum. You can click on the list to see the additional Pokemon added to the Sinnoh Dex.

The Normal and Menu sprites from Platinum are now available thanks to zhenlin and the Rotom ones are posted below confirming the earlier pictures of the new forme's.
