A New Movie and a New Pikachu for You

Watch the teaser trailer for the upcoming Pokémon movie and find out how to get an exclusive Pikachu for your games.

The upcoming animated film, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, is the 20th entry in the long-running series, and it also serves as a celebration of all the adventures that Ash and Pikachu have had over the years. We've finally got our first look at the movie in the new teaser trailer above, and tickets are now available to order!

This new movie isn't the only way we're marking this milestone, however. For a limited time, Trainers will be able to receive a special Pikachu wearing Ash's hat into their Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game.

Starting September 19, check back here on Pokemon.com to discover a code that allows you to receive a Pikachu wearing one of six different hats in your game. Each hat is based on the hat Ash wore in the various regions he and Pikachu explored. Not only will each Pikachu sport a different hat, but they will also come equipped with a unique set of moves that reflect those that Pikachu would often use in the region that corresponds with the hat it wears.

PLEASE NOTE: You will only be able to use this code once! The date you choose to enter the code will determine which hat and move set your special Pikachu will have. This means you're going to have to be very careful when deciding on which Pikachu you wish to add to your party. Study the schedule below, and get ready to choose your Pikachu!

A new planetarium special based on the Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon TV series has been announced. Like earlier specials, it will be screened at various planetariums throughout Japan throughout the next few years. Translations follow:

Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon: Planetarium

Use your fully powered strength to ensure you don't miss out on the "Miracle Moment" performed by the sun and the moon!

Duration: 29 minutes
Target audience: Early elementary school students +
Period: All year long
Format: Dome screen CG + animation
Production year: 2017

Synopsis:
Tomorrow is an extremely rare day, one where a total solar eclipse can be seen.
If you miss out, it'll be over 300 years until you can see another in Alola.
Hearing this, Satoshi and his friends accompany Māmane to Eclipse Island, which is located in the middle of the eclipse's center line.
At the island, they encounter Fred, a "solar eclipse hunter" that travels the world chasing down solar eclipses, and decide to observe the eclipse together with him.
Unfortunately, the weather turns out to be cloudy this day...
Since they should definitely be able to see the eclipse if they went above the clouds, Satoshi and the others decided to head for a mountaintop.
Meanwhile, the Rocket Gang has snuck out of Kiteruguma's cave,
wanting to get the rare Pokémon that will show up to watch the eclipse.
They decide to get Pikachu while they're at it, so as Satoshi and the others hurry towards the top of the mountain, the Rocket Gang suddenly appear before them, blocking their way!
And at the same time, the solar eclipse has started!
Will Satoshi and the others be able to see the eclipse?!

Use your fully powered strength to ensure you don't miss out on the "Miracle Moment" performed by the sun and the moon!

Rica Matsumoto and Asuca Hayashi Make A Surprise Appearance at the "Pikachu Outbreak-chu!"!

Rica Matsumoto and Asuca Hayashi made a surprise appearance on Thursday August 10th at the Super Soaking Splash Show "Water Carnival" during the "Not-Just-Pikachu Pikachu Outbreak-chu" being held in the Yokohama Minato Mirai area.
They had come to sing the opening theme song and the ending theme song to "Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You!"

There was already a huge crowd gathered around the stage set up at the Red Brick Warehouse, since the "Water Carnival" show was about to begin there.
The "Water Carnival" involves Pikachu dancing lightly along to Latin rhythms!
The audience got super soaked by the water fired from the water cannons! Everyone were in a great mood!
(The Super Soaking Splash Show "Water Carnival" is held until Tuesday August 15th)

After the "Water Carnival" ended, the audience prepared to leave, but then they suddenly heard Satoshi's voice?!
To everyone's surprise, Satoshi voice actor Rica Matsumoto appeared on stage!
The people that had started leaving spot her and make their way back to the stage as well.

Matsumoto performed "Mezase Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary-" to great cheers from the audience.
And of course, the audience started singing along as well! The audience's chorus during the music interlude isn't something anyone will forget either.
After the song was done, Matsumoto commented "I've been wanting to sing a singalong song that connects everyone from children to the elderly.
When I was told I was going to sing "MezaPoké" again, I thought "All right!""

Next, Asuca Hayashi appeared on the stage as well, to everyone's surprise!
Hayashi also did the ending theme song to "The Seven-Day Wishing Star Jirachi" 14 years ago.
When the moderator asked the audience "Did anyone here watch "The Seven-Day Wishing Star Jirachi?", lots of people raised their hands.
Hayashi then went on to perform "Chiisaki Mono" and "Oración: Let's Walk Together".
The venue got filled with a calm and mellow atmosphere.

At the end, everyone that had come to the Red Brick Warehouse took a memorial photo together, where they struck the "I Choose You!" pose!
