POKÉMON UNVEILS VIRTUAL MUSIC CONCERT WITH POST MALONE TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Online Global Music Event to Take Place on Pokémon Day, February 27, as Part of P25 Music Program
Bellevue, Wash.—FEBRUARY 11, 2021— Pokémon unveiled plans today for a virtual music concert celebrating its 25th anniversary. The pop-culture brand broke the news with help from headliner and Pokémon fan Post Malone in a video that can be seen here: https://youtu.be/wtQx4R2M2iw/.
Taking place on Saturday, February 27—better known as Pokémon Day—the event will be an online party not just for Pokémon fans but for all music fans around the world. It will also serve as the launch activation for the franchise’s yearlong P25 Music program. The Pokémon Company International has teamed up with Universal Music Group to bring this concert and more music surprises to life throughout 2021 as part of P25 Music. P25 Music is a collaboration with some of music’s biggest names to create new songs, styles, and pop-culture moments, all through the lens of Pokémon. Pop icon Katy Perry was announced last month as the program’s premier artist.
“I’ve been a Pokémon fan for a long time, so the opportunity to headline the Pokémon Day concert celebrating 25 years is awesome,” said Post Malone.
The concert will be free to view on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, Pokémon’s official Twitch channel, and on Pokémon’s 25th anniversary website beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST / 4:00 p.m. PST on February 27. Pokémon will unveil more P25 Music details at the end of the concert, so fans will want to tune in for more upcoming collaboration surprises.
In anticipation of the concert, The Pokémon Company International will host several celebratory activations across the brand in the week leading up to the virtual music event. In addition to the previously announced Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event on Saturday, February 20, The Pokémon Company International will distribute a special password on February 25 for players of the Pokémon video game franchise to add a special Pikachu to their Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games. In keeping with the music theme for the year, this Pikachu knows the move Sing, which it can’t ordinarily learn. Fans can expect more announcements that week from across the franchise.

Deep in the jungle, far from any human settlement, is the Forest of Okoya—a Pokémon paradise forbidden to outsiders and protected by a strict code of rules. In this jungle lives Koko, a human boy who has been raised as a Pokémon by the Mythical Pokémon Zarude. Koko has grown up never doubting that he is a Pokémon. But one day, a chance meeting with Ash and Pikachu leaves Koko with his first human friend. Is he truly a Pokémon? Or is he, in fact, a human? When danger threatens the Forest of Okoya, the bonds between Pokémon and human—as well as the love between parent and child—will be put to the test.

The official Pokémon website has announced that players of Pokémon GO can now transfer Pokémon to Pokémon HOME. To celebrate this new feature, trainers who transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME will receive the Mythical Pokémon Melmetal.
Connect Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME for a Melmetal That Can Gigantamax
Pokémon GO Trainers will soon be able to transfer Pokémon to Pokémon HOME, and can receive the Mythical Pokémon Melmetal after their first transfer.
Pokémon GO is now officially connected to Pokémon HOME, giving Trainers the opportunity to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME! This feature is rolling out incrementally to all Trainers based on their current Trainer level. Keep checking Pokémon GO for the opportunity to transfer your Pokémon to Pokémon HOME.
Trainers will use a new feature in Pokémon GO called the GO Transporter to transfer Pokémon to Pokémon HOME. Every time you transfer a Pokémon, some energy will be drained from the GO Transporter. The energy used by the GO Transporter recharges over time, but it can also be replenished with PokéCoins. The energy cost to use the GO Transporter to transfer Pokémon varies depending on the Pokémon.
To celebrate this development, Trainers who transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME will receive the Mythical Pokémon Melmetal. This special Melmetal can Gigantamax in any battle in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield that allows it. This Melmetal can be received as a Mystery Gift in the mobile device version of Pokémon HOME. Trainers can then use the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME to transfer this Melmetal to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield and add it to their team. This is the first time Gigantamax Melmetal has been made available to Trainers, so don't miss out on this chance to team up with the Mythical Steel-type Pokémon!
After transferring a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, Trainers can open the Mystery Box in Pokémon GO, causing the rare Mythical Pokémon Meltan to appear on the map for a limited time. Trainers can evolve Meltan into Melmetal by gathering 400 Meltan Candy.
The first time you transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, you’ll receive the Mythical Pokémon Melmetal as a Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME. This Melmetal is a special one that has never been obtainable until now. It is capable of Gigantamaxing under the right conditions, such as during Max Raid Battles in the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games. You will not be able to feed Melmetal Max Soup, which is available in The Isle of Armor, the first round of content for the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass. (Note: Full version of game required to use Expansion Pass for that game. Games and Expansion Passes sold separately or in special bundle packs.)
The Mystery Gifts feature is available only on the mobile device (iOS/Android) version of Pokémon HOME. Certain features may be unavailable depending on your device or OS version.
Linking with Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield is a feature available only on the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME.
Catch Meltan in Pokémon GO
If you send Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, you’ll be able to open the Mystery Box, causing the Mythical Pokémon Meltan to appear on your map for a limited time. It is important to note that a set period of time must have passed since you last opened the Mystery Box in order to be able to open it again.
If a Trainer who does not have a Mystery Box sends a Pokémon to Pokémon HOME, they will obtain a Mystery Box.
